Bertha Hale Davis, 83, of Cripple Creek, Va., died Monday, July 7, 2003, at the Brandon Oaks Health Care Center, Roanoke, Va.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, at 8 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel, Wytheville, Va., with the Rev. Owen Moore officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's cemetery.
She was born Feb. 11, 1920, in Cripple Creek, Va. She was a member of Crockett's Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Davis; her parents, James Lucas and Bettie Jane Lowe Hale; one sister, Margie Hale Crockett; and three brothers, Bruce Hale, Helton Hale and Fred Hale.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, John E. and Jane Davis of Cripple Creek, Va.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Frieda and Marty Horne of Roanoke, Va., and Dreama and Russell Helton of Kingsport, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. (service time) at the Barnett Funeral Home.

Ellis W. Morehead, 92, of the Walker Creek community in Bland County, Va., died Tuesday, July 29, 2003.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 1, at 2 p.m. at the Newberry Funeral Home in Bland, Va., with the Rev. Roger Lusk officiating. Interment will be in Hoge's Chapel cemetery in Bland, Va.
He was a lifelong resident of Bland County, Va., and was a member of the Central United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James "Wardy" and Bessie Helvy Morehead; a sister, Ruby Morehead Tickle; and a brother-in-law, J.D. Tickle.
Survivors include one niece; and his caregivers and close family friends, Jack and Veronica Compton of Bland, Va.

Elizabeth Blair King, 79, of Max Meadows, Va., died Sunday, July 6, 2003, at Asbury Place in Wytheville, Va.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, at 2 p.m. at the Bakers Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Glennard Quesenberry officiating. Interment will be in the Olive Branch cemetery.
She was born in Ivanhoe, Va. She was a member of the Bakers Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Baker King; her parents, Thomas Jefferson and Martha Walk Blair; and five brothers, Thomas Blair, Sherman Blair, Paul Blair, Curtis Blair and Clyde Blair.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth "Juicy" and Lorri King of Wytheville, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Tim Norman of Collinsville, Va.; a brother, Jimmy Blair of Max Meadows, Va.; two sisters, Ester Brammer of Bassett, Va., and Juanita Williams of Richmond, Va.; and four grandchildren, Jon Michael Norman of Collinsville, Va., Kristen Blair King, Laura Ashley King, and Cortney Leigh King, all of Wytheville, Va.

Edna Cline Gallimore, 74, Bristol, Va., died Thursday July 24, 2003, at her residence.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 26, at 8 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel in Bristol, Va., with the Rev. Stephen Playl officiating. Graveside service will be held Sunday, July 27, at 2 p.m. at the Mountain View cemetery.
She was born Nov. 15, 1928, in Wytheville, Va., but lived all of her adult life in the Bristol, Va. area. She was a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church. She had retired from Bristol Compressors with 15 years of service and was an Avon representative for 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas M. Gallimore Sr.; and her parents, Paris Burley "Tobe" and Nellie Sue Taylor Cline.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Deborah and James Gobble of Bristol, Va., Kathy Gallimore of Bristol, Tenn., and Patricia and Allan Leonard of Bristol, Va.; one son, Douglas M. Gallimore Jr. of Johnson City, Tenn.; one sister, Vivian Dix of Lee Hall, Va.; seven grandchildren and one stepgrandchild, Travis Gobble, Tracey Gobble, Amanda Estes, Melissa Leonard, Leslie Hill, Jessica Leonard, Lori Ann Gallimore and Jessica Stone; and eight great-grandchildren.

Jewel Dianne Aker McVey, 51, of the Piney section of Wythe County, Va., died Tuesday, July 8, 2003 after a long battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ted Anders and the Rev. Bobby Lewis officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion cemetery.
She worked at Longwood Elastomers in Wytheville, Va. for 26 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Cora Aker.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Melissa Michelle McVey of the home, Heather Dawn McVey and Chris Beavers of Portsmouth, Va.; two grandchildren, Michael David Armbrister Jr. and Amanda Leigh Armbrister, both of the home; an expected grandchild, Bo Beavers; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Bill Byrd of Johnson City, Tenn., and Frances and Larry Atwell of Fayetteville, N.C.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger "Jock" Aker, Stephen "Leg" and Louise Aker, all of Max Meadows, Va., and Harry "Sonny" and Viola Aker of Wytheville, Va.; four nieces, Kim, Lori, Natalie and Misti; one nephew, Derek; two great-nieces and three great-nephews; and special friend, Wilma Dabney.

William Franklin Ring, 68, of Bastian, died Sunday, June 29, 2003.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 3, at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill cemetery in Bastian, Va., with the Rev. Lee McIntosh and the Rev. Paul Looney officiating. Full military honors will be conducted.
He has lived in Bastian, Va. for the past 25 years. He was a member of the Bastian Union Church and a member of the V.F.W. Post 7969. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gerlie Mae Ring; a stepfather, Noah R. Hopkins; two brothers, Robert D. Ring and James L. Ring.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley C. Ring; two sons, Robin "Butch" Malmberg of Mt. Vernon, Va., and Ron Malmberg of Bland, Va.; two daughters, Brenda Crain of Albuquerque, N.M., and Renee Schultz of Bastian, Va.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a close family friend, Charlie Delph of Alexandria, Va.

Cora Viola Hatfield Morgan, 99, of Bastian, Va., died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 21, at 1 p.m. at the Bastian Church of God with the Rev. David Webb officiating. Interment will follow in the Musick cemetery in Bastian, Va.
She was a member of Big Cub Missionary Baptist Church in West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Susan Davis Hatfield; one daughter, Eunice Toler; and two sons, Robert Wendell Morgan and Jeanna Eli Morgan.
Survivors include one daughter, Josephine Musick of the home; one brother, Luther Hatfield of Coal Mountain, W.Va.; five sisters, Brookie Cline, Georgie Hatfield and Arlene Wallace, all of Coal Mountain, W.Va., Mervin Fraley of Moorehead, Ky., and Zetta Brown of Cyclone, W.Va.; 14 grandchildren 19 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Henry T. Gillespie, 78, of Seminole, Fla., died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003 at St. Petersburg General Hospital, St. Petersburg, Fla.
Funeral service was held Monday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m. at E. Dale Gunter Funeral Home, St. Petersburg, Fla., with the Rev. Fred V. Cooley officiating. Interment was in the Memorial Park, St. Petersburg, Fla.
He was born April 23, 1925 in Chatham Hill, Va., and moved to Seminole, Fla. in 1952 from Rural Retreat, Va. He was a welder for Economy Machine for 12 years then was a welder and burner for 20 years with Misener Marine. He was a member of the Church of God.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty L. Gillespie of Seminole, Fla.; two sons, Thomas H. Gillespie and Michael J. Gillespie, both of Seminole, Fla.; one daughter, Gail I. Gillespie of Seminole, Fla.; one brother, Dorsey Lee Gillespie of Rural Retreat, Va.; six sisters, Ella Oakes of Saltville, Va., Patsy Seip of Live Oak, Fla., Ovella Perryman of Marion, Ky., Olivene Atwell, Audrey Meadows and Elsie Cameron, all of Rural Retreat, Va.; and nine grandchildren.

Linda L. Barnes of Bland, Va., formerly of Wytheville, Va., died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., after a brief illness.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Wytheville Pentecostal Holiness Church on West Ridge Road, Wytheville, Va.
She was a graduate of the nursing program at Wytheville Community College and was a registered nurse.
She was preceded in death by her father, S.R. Barnes; and brother, Joseph A. Barnes.
Survivors include her mother, Della Barnes of Wytheville, Va.; one brother, Bill Barnes of Powhatan, Va.; one sister, Joyce Viars of Roanoke, Va.; two nephews, Joseph Barnes of Powhatan, Va., and Dallas Viars of Roanoke, Va.; and two nieces, Wendy Barnes McClure of Powhatan, Va., and Stacey Viars of Roanoke, Va.
