Albert K. Walker Jr., 67 of Fredericksburg, died Monday January 26, 2009 at his home. Survivors include six children, Ronald Walker of Dale City, Jeffrey Walker of Stafford, Angela Satterwhite of Ladysmith, Bobby Rogers of Ladysmith, Clint Walker of Spotsylvania and William Walker of Fredericksburg; a brother, Ronald Walker of Covington and fourteen grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held.

Joanne P. Parrish, 63 of Woodford, died Sunday January 25, 2009 in Mary Washington Hospital. Survivors include her brother, Steve Parrish and his wife Anna of Woodford; her sister, Kathryn Carver and her husband Roger of Fredericksburg; nephews, Jeff and David Parrish and William Carver II; niece, Candace Carver; great nephew, Darrin Parrish and great niece, Savannah Parrish. A graveside funeral service will be held Friday January 30th at 11:00 AM at Bethany Baptist Church cemetery, Woodford. The family will receive friends at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, Thursday 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Upper Caroline Fire Dept. or a favorite charity.

Bruce W. Fontaine, 55 of Bowling Green died Sunday January 25, 2008. He was a member of St. Asaphs Episcopal Church and a faithful friend and neighbor to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hunter and Dessie Miller. Survivors include his sisters, Sharon Allen and her husband Kenneth of Ladysmith, Brenda Wright and her fiannce Glen Hazelwood of Lanexa and Fern Wilcox and her husband Ricky of Bowling Green; his maternal grandmother, Margaret Anderson of Richmond, several nieces and nephews and a special friend and neighbor, Daisy Braxton. A funeral service will be held Wednesday January 28th at 2:00 PM in Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with burial to follow in Lakewood cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, two hours prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Asaphs Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Billie Ruth Kegley Melton, 76 of Fredericksburg died Monday January 19, 2009 in Mary Washington Hospital. Born in Galax, she had retired from the Fredericksburg Chateau Assisted Living Facility. Survivors include her daughter, Carrie L. Wright and her husband Tommy of Bowling Green, her son, Robert R. (Randy) Melton and his wife Evelyn of Fredericksburg, her grandson, Matthew M. Melton and several nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be held Friday January 23rd at 2:00 PM in Greenlawn cemetery, Bowling Green. The family will receive friends at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, Friday from 12:00 Noon until the procession leaves for the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.

Annie B. Goodwin, 91 of Milford died Monday January 19, 2009. Survivors include her son, Lawrence Cannon of Richmond; a sister, Earl Gayle of Ruther Glen; two granddaughters; six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. A graveside funeral will be held Thursday January 23rd at 2:00 PM in Lakewood cemetery, Bowling Green. Visitation at Storke Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until the time of service.

Otis Leroy Southworth, 78, of Ruther Glen, died suddenly Saturday, January 10, 2009. Born in Caroline, he had retired after 39 years from Richmond City Schools and was a U. S. Army veteran. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Marian Southworth; a son, Michael Wayne Southworth and his wife, Nina of Ruther Glen; a brother, Lewis Southworth of Richmond; a granddaughter, Erica Southworth; and a grandson, Austin Southworth. He was preceded in death by a son, David Southworth. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. Burial will follow in Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover. The family will receive friends 6- 8 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2009 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, c/o Barbara Allen, 201 Travis Street, Bowling Green, VA. 22427

Novella Satterwhite, 86, of Ruther Glen died Friday, January 9, 2009 at Westport Convalescent Center. Born in Alabama, she is survived by her husband, Grayson A. Satterwhite; three children, Linda Bradley, Bobby Satterwhite and Marie E. Smith all of Caroline; two sisters, Mary Culver and Myrtle Glover of Alabama; three brothers, Bobby Atchley of Alabama, Cleon Atchley of Illinois and Richard Atchley of Stafford; six grandchildren, John Bradley, James Bradley, Jeremy Barker, Jared Barker, Ashley Satterwhite and Bob Satterwhite; and three great grandchildren, James Bradley, Jr., Stephen Hickman and Leigh Ann Hickman.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009 in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green with Rev. Frank Carrington officiating.

Lucy Mae Cooper, 86, passed away at her Shumansville home Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, with her family around her.
Lucy Mae was a devoted and loving wife and a caring, loving and grateful mother. She was a lifelong member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Cooper; three children, Irvin E. Cooper of Milford, Dianna Chinault of Ruther Glen and David Cooper of Bowling Green; six grandchildren, Amy Wingfield, Paul Cooper, Keith Chinault, Shane Chinault, Brandon Cooper and Cassandra Cooper; seven great-grandchildren; and her brother-in-law, Melvin Harris of Richmond.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with burial to follow in Mount Hermon Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, from 7-9 p.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to Mount Hermon Baptist Church, 18453 Sparta Road, Milford, VA. 22514.

John Barrington Clary, 53 of Richmond, departed this life January 4, 2009. Survivors include his father, Amos Clary; two sisters, Julia Watts and her husband Kenneth and Patricia Clary; and a niece, Sara Watts. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barrington Clary. A memorial service will be held Wednesday January 7th at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jerusalem Christian Church, King William.

Elizabeth A. “Liz” Fraughnaugh, 79, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Born in Caroline County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Sam Taylor (of Caroline County, VA) and Anne Taylor Collier (of Richmond, Virginia). She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James F. Fraughnaugh. Liz was a lifetime member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. Survived by her two daughters, Sharon Smith and her husband, Duke of Virginia Beach, VA, Linda Webb and her husband, Lawrence of Stockbridge, GA; two sons, Mike Mathews of Griffin, GA, and Frank Mathews and his wife, Dawn of Zuni, VA; a sister, Joyce Anthony of Hustle, VA; five grandchildren, Fran Payne, Scott Zane, Frankie Mathews, Chad Mathews and James Hargrave; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Salem Baptist Church, Sparta, VA. With Malcolm J. Puckett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Velva Mastin Pickett of Woodford died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 at Bowling Green Health Care Center. She had retired from FMC and was a charter member of the Fredericksburg Seventh Day Adventist Church. Survivors include her husband, Franklin Pickett; two daughters, Celia Payne and her husband, Clinton, of Fredericksburg and Amelia Graninger of Spotsylvania County; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29 in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with burial following in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at the funeral home.

Robert “Bob Stone” Abrams, 85, of Manquin passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008. Born in 1923 to Mordecai and Belva Blount Abrams, he was a lifelong resident of King William County. He was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church and a retired dairy farmer. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jacqueline Broaddus Abrams and many friends who will greatly miss him and cherish his memory. A graveside service will be held 11 AM Friday, January 2, 2009 at Salem Baptist Church cemetery, Sparta with Rev. Bill Duganne officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 5-8 PM Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church Building Fund, 20538 Mattaponi Trail, Milford, VA. 22514 or a charity of your choice.

Patricia N. Skinner, 60 of Fredericksburg, died Saturday December 20, 2008 in Mary Washington Hospital. Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Traci and Lyle Parker and grandson Cody Parker of King George. A private graveside service will be held at the Christian Outreach Church cemetery, Spotsylvania.

Stephen A. Jett, 71, of Woodford died Friday, December 19, 2008 at Mary Washington Hospital. Funeral arrangements are private.

Rev. Walter F. Fette, 85, of Bowling Green went to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 17, 2008. Born in Wuppertal, Germany, at the age of 6 he moved to the United States, He lived in New York until 1960 when he moved to Bowling Green to become pastor of Bowling Green Pentecostal Church. He served the Lord faithfully for almost 50 years with his wife of 53 years, Anne F. Fette who died December 17, 2006. He is survived by a son, Gordon Fette of California; a daughter, Kathryn Morales of Bowling Green; and two grandchildren, Joey (age 21) and Brad (age 19). He was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Fette. A funeral service will be held 12 Noon Monday, December 22, 2008 at Bowling Green Chapel (formerly Bowling Green Pentecostal Church) with Rev. David Eames officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Bowling Green Chapel, P. O. Box 872, Bowling Green, VA. 22427.

Robert Ralph Rowley, 84 of Thornburg, died Wednesday December 17, 2008 in Mary Washington Hospital. Born in King George, he served in the United States Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Rachel Rowley; six children, Wayne Rowley of Partlow, Gary Rowley of Spotsylvania, Donna Mainka of Houston TX, Michael Rowley of Spotsylvania, Jerry Rowley of Stafford and Carol Rowley of Chicago IL; two brothers, Tommy Rowley of Arizona and Norman Rowley of Woodford and eight grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Friday December 19th at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with Rev. Charles Tillapaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Wright’s Burying Ground, Ruther Glen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Thomas Henry Reynolds, Sr., 85, of Ladysmith, passed away peacefully at his home, Sunday, December 14, 2008.
The son of the late Annie Parker and Alfred Rixey Reynolds, he was born September 18, 1923, the fifth of nine children. In 2003, he mourned the death of his wife of 60 years, Muriel Walsh Reynolds and in 2006 he grieved the passing of his son, Thomas H. Reynolds, Jr. (51). Also preceding him in death were six of his siblings, Edward, Forester, and Floyd Reynolds, Frances Rife, Elizabeth Hundley and Minnie Dalton Holzapfel.
He is survived by three devoted daughters, Marilyn Parnell, Donna Strong-Wickham and Winona Smitherman; two sisters, Doris Leake and Virginia Baldwin; eleven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
In his earlier years, he was joint owner of Reynolds Brothers Lumber in Caroline. Later, he worked and retired from the Richmond Foundry, but he may be known best as the “Tomato-Man” of Ladysmith, where for 23 years, he raised and sold his own plants and vegetables, until in 2007 when pulmonary disease made this no longer possible.
A funeral service will be held 2 PM Thursday, December 18, 2008 in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. Burial will follow at Shiloh United Methodist Church cemetery, Montpelier, VA.
The family will receive visitors, Tuesday, December 16 and Wednesday, December 17 from 4pm-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Christian School, 1701 Cardwell Road, Crozier, VA. 23039.
