Margaret "Maggie"Pitts, 86, of Ruther Glen, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at her home. She was the widow of John H. Pitts and was a lifelong member of Concord Baptist Church in Ruther Glen.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Anne and James Lambe of Glen Allen and Juanita and Bernie Tinsley of Richmond; two brothers, W. Henry Young of Ruther Glen and Robert E. Young of Port Royal; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2003 at 11:00 AM in Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with Rev. J. R. Dockum officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday 6:00-8:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Virginia, 7231 Forest Avenue, Suite 100, Richmond, Virginia 23226.

Ruth A. Stanley, 79, of Ladysmith, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003 in Memorial Regional Medical Center. She was a member of County Line Baptist Church, Ruther Glen and was active in the Ladysmith Rescue Squad Aux.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin D. Stanley; three children, Douglas Haynes of Fredericksburg, Lynda Thomas and Betty Ann Skinner both of Montpelier; two sisters, Earline Hockaday of Woodford and Margaret Shelton of Carneys Point, NJ; four brothers, Garland Acors of Hanover, Alfred Acors of Bowling Green, Irvin Acors of Hampton and Reginald Acors of Ladysmith; five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held Friday, May 16 at 1:00 PM in County Line Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Skaggs and Rev. Howard Satterwhite officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, Thursday 6:00-9:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ladysmith Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 186, Ladysmith, Virginia 22501.

Bessie G. Peatross, 92, of Ruther Glen, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at her home. Born in North Carolina, she was the widow of Richard M. Peatross, Sr., a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and a member of the Busy Bee's.
Survivors include five children, Richard M. Peatross, Jr. of Vienna, Frederick W. Peatross, Julia P. Waller and Donald L. Peatross all of Ruther Glen and Margaret A. Hardy of Newbern; a sister, Jackie Price of North Carolina; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 15 at 11:00 am in Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with the Rev. Claudia Stallings officiating. Burial will follow in Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, 7:00-9:00 PM.

Dorothy A. "Bev" Hughes, 56, of Ruther Glen, died Saturday, May 10, 2003 at her home. She was a member of Ladysmith Baptist Church, had retired after 20 years in visual display with Belk, and was a volunteer with Mary Washington Hospital auxiliary in the gift shop at the hospital.
Survivors inlcude her husband, Davy L. Hughes; a daughter, Theresa Hughes-Carroll of Spotsylvania; a son, Hunter "H.L." Hughes of Martinsburg, WVA; a brother, James W. Lacey, Jr. of Warrenton; two granddaughters; two grandsons; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. A private interment will take place at a later date in Mount Comfort cemetery, Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ladysmith Baptist Church.

M. Anna Toombs, 86, of Cedon, died Thursday, May 8, 2003 in Woodmont Nursing Home.
Survivors include three children, Charles E. Toombs of Ladysmith; Priscilla Spradlin of Fredericksburg and Carolyn Javins of Chilesburg; a brother, Arthur E. Jenkins of Richmond; twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children, Lillian May Sisk and Gwynn C. Toombs, Sr.; two grandsons, Gwynn C. Toombs, Jr. and Little Tom Edenton and a sister, Alice Whitaker.
A graveside funeral will be held Monday, May 12 at 2:00 PM in Greenlawn cemetery, Bowling Green, with the Rev. Fred Skaggs officiating.The family will receive friends at Storke Funeral Home, Monday from 12:00 - 1:30 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ladysmith Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 186, Ladysmith, Virginia 22501.

Reginald H. Lucy, 88, of Woodford, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at his home. Born in Caroline, he was the widow of Virginia Smith Lucy and had retired after over 40 years with Massaponax Sand and Gravel, where he worked as treasurer.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith L. Yeager of Fredericksburg and Jane W. Lucy of Norfolk; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James H. Lucy.
A funeral will be held Saturday, May 10, at 2:00 PM in Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with the Rev. Howard Satterwhite officiating. Burial will follow in Carmel Baptist Church cemetery, Ruther Glen. The family will receive friendsf at the funeral home Saturday, one hour prior to the service.

Martha L. Durrett, 93, of Bowling Green died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at the Bowling Green Health Care Center. She was the widow of Weldon Durrett and a member of Bowling Green Baptist Church.
Born in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Charles and Laura Lull and adopted by her aunt, Bertha P. Lull. She married Weldon Durrett on June 21, 1933 in Prospect Park, Pa. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, in Sunset Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Kevin Moen officiating.

William A. Horan, 76, of Bowling Green died Friday, May 2, 2003 at the Bowling Green Health Care Center.
He had worked as a maintenance supervisor at Bowling Green Health Care Center and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and the widow of Nancy G. Horan.
He is survived by a son, Glenn Horan of Spotsylvania; a stepdaughter, Martha Smith of Chancellor; five grandchildren, Warren Treat, Randy Treat, Jennifer Jamison, David Horan and Jason Horan.
A graveside service will be held 12 Noon Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at Quantico National cemetery, Triangle, Virginia with Chaplin Edward Leis officiating.
Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green is handling the arrangements.

William Francis Hartsell, Sr., 76, of Milford died Friday, May 2, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital, Richmond.
Born in Maryland, he was a World War II veteran and had retired as a boiler mechanic with the federal government at Valley Forge Army Hospital in Pennsylvania. He then worked for Union Bank and Trust for seven years.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. Hartsell; two sons, William F. Hartsell, Jr. of Collegeville, Pa., and Robert L. Hartsell of Milford; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Monday, May 5, at 11 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church, Sparta, with the Rev. Kevin James officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral.

Willard Rogers Wenrich, Sr., 86, of Bowling Green, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at his home.
Survivors include three sons, Willard R. Wenrich, Jr. and Nathan Wenrich both of Bowling Green and Mark Daniel Wenrich of Richmond; eight daughters, Joyce W. Phipps of Woodford, Janet A. Wenrich of Tampa, FL., Barbara Krueter of Chesterfield, Catherine W. Venable of Matthews, Sharon Leahman of Hawaii, Carolyn Wenrich of Bowling Green, Grace Galliano of Mechanicsville, and Susan Wenrich of Richmond; a sister, Lillian W. Miller of Alta Monte Springs, FL; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded by a daughter, Sonjia W. Gentile.
A funeral will be held 2 PM Monday, May 5, 2003 in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Greenlawn cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 PM Sunday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Mary Washington Hospice, 2300 Fall Hill Avenue, Suite 210, Fredericksburg, VA 22401 or your favorite charity.

Hazel Sheets Mullen, 75, of Dahlgren died Friday, April 18, 2003 at her home. Born in Wythe County, she was the widow of Ben Mullen and an avid collector.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James and Peggy Mullen of Dahlgren.
A funeral service will be held Monday, April 21, 2003 at 2:00 PM in Potomac Baptist Church, King George, with Rev. Dwight C. Storke, Jr. and Rev. Dennis Newton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dahlgren Rescue Squad or Mary Washington Hospice.

Virginia Brooks "Mary" Claytor, 82, of Bowling Green died Thursday, April 17, 2003 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mrs. Claytor was the widow of John G. Claytor.
Survivors include her daughter, Dot Smith of Columbia, S.C.; two sons, Jay Marcom of New York and Charles Claytor of Tappahannock; two brothers, Thomas Eddie Brooks and Jesse Brooke, both of Ladysmith; a sister, Beulah Perry of Warren, Ohio; and a granddaughter, Allison Smith of Columbia, S.C.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, at Carmel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green.

Gerald H. "Jerry" Roman, 75, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 in Mary Washington Hospital. Born in New York, he had worked as a sound and camera technician with NBC and retired as a radio engineer with the Voice of America. He was also a volunteer for the National Park Service in the Fredericksburg area.
Survivors include his wife, Mary C. Roman; two daughters, Diana M. Rhodes of Centreville and Christina M. Clevinger of Ashburn; a brother, Robert Roman of Salt Lake City; two grandchildren, Anna Michelle and Daniel Zachary David Rhodes.
A funeral mass will be held Monday, April 21, 2003 at 11:00 AM in St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Ladysmith, with burial to follow in Lakewood cemetery, Bowling Green. A rosary service will be Sunday at 7:00 PM at the church.
