Arlene T. Beasley, 71, of Bowling Green died Friday, April 11, 2003 in Mary Washington Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Welford L. Beasley, Sr.; two daughters, Barbara Pitts of Milford and Sharon Noszek of Ruther Glen; three step children, Brandy Beasley of Ashland and Welford, Jr. and Bryan Beasley both of Chilesburg; three brothers, Grayson Taylor of Doswell, Wesley Taylor of Louisa and Wallace Taylor of Missouri; three sisters, Marian Martin of Mechanicsville, Myrtle Gatewood of King William and Violet Turner of Doswell; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 14 at 3:00 PM in Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with Rev. Judith Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, 6:00-8:00 PM.
Ret. Air Force Brig. Gen. Richard C. Milnes, 65, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Bethesda Naval Hospital after a short illness.
Gen. Milnes was a 1961 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, where he earned a bachelor of science degree. He earned his master's degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Colorado in 1969.
Gen. Milnes retired from the Air Force in 1991, after serving 30 years in the service. He served in the Vietnam War, where he flew the C-7 transport plane. He also flew the B-52, KC-135, C-130, C-5 and C-141. Gen. Milnes' final assignment in the Air Force was commander of the Inter American Defense College in Washington. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Distinguished Presidential Unit Citation with one oak cluster, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with valor, National Defense Service Medal with one bronze star, Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with device and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medals.
After retiring from the Air Force, Gen. Milnes worked for BAE Aeronautical Systems in St. Louis, Mo., holding the position of the Mid-Western regional manager. He retired from that position in July 2002.
Gen. Milnes is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Fredericksburg; his daughters, Diane Peterson of York, Pa., and Kimberly Brown of Hot Springs; a son, Michael Milnes of Tallahassee, Fla.; two brothers, Jack Milnes of Portland, Ore., and Timothy Milnes of Warrensburg, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at Episcopal Church of the Messiah, Spotsylvania, with the Rev. James Reed officiating.

Alfred E. Henshaw, 84, of Woodford died Sunday, April 6, 2003.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Sinlock Henshaw; two children, Mary Frances Henshaw Mooberry of Richmond and Robert E. Henshaw and his wife, Joy of Kingsport, Tenn.; a brother Richard F. Henshaw of Richmond; a sister, Helen Henshaw Massengill of Richmond; five grandchildren, Rachel Henshaw, Mary Jo Mooberry, Mary Margaret Mooberry, Jessica Henshaw and Mary Megan Mooberry; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Ladysmith. Burial will follow in St. Cyril and Methodius cemetery, Woodford.
A rosary will be held at the church tonight at 7 p.m. with family receiving friends afterward.

Mildred Davies "Ducky" Campbell, 85, of Bowling Green died Monday, April 7, 2003. Born in Culpeper, she was the widow of Clarence "Soup" Campbell, Jr.
She was the former principal at Sparta School and a longtime elementary school teacher in Caroline.
Survivors include three children, Candy Taylor of Spotsylvania, Chip Campbell of Fredericksburg and Sally Williams of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, Pete Davies of Culpeper; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in Salem Baptist Church cemetery, Sparta, with the Rev. Pegram Johnson, III officiating. The family will receive friends tonight at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Susan Minarchi, 94, of Ladysmith, died Friday, March 28, 2003 at her home.
Born in Caroline, Miss Minarchi was a founding and lifetime member of St. Mary's of the Annunciation. She had retired from the Virginia Employment Commission.
Survivors include 5 nieces, Susan Blackwell, Ann Loomis, Debbie Minarchi, Pat Shriver, and Barbara Tinnin and 10 nephews, George Albanese, Nick Albanese, Nick Albanese, Bryan Burke, Shawn Burke, Albert Minarchi, Glen Minarchi, John Minarchi, Greg Waddell, Phillip Waddell and Tom Waddell.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at St. Mary's of the Annunciation Church, Ladysmith, with the Rev. Scott Duarte officiating. Burial will follow in Wright's Burying Ground in Ruther Glen.
Brenda Kay Howard, 53 of Sparta, died Tuesday March 18, 2003. She was Elvis Presley's greatest fan, a great listener, teacher and was proud to be a child of the Lord.
Survivors include her husband, James Benjamin Howard; two daughters, Tammy Wong and Jamie Howard; a son, Joe Wong; four grandchildren, Mark, Kyrstal and Ronald Wong and Joseph Howard; three sisters, Linda Price, Sharon Garretson and Sheila Reed; three brothers, Lawrence, Jerry and Rickey Reed and many neices and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Wayne Reed and two brothers, Lonnie and Larry Reed.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 21, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in Salem Baptist Church, with the family receiving friends at the Church one hour prior to the funeral.

Raymond L. Sharp, Jr., 59 of Woodford, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003 in Carriage Hill Nursing Home. Originally from New Jersey, he had retired as a custodian with the New Jersey Public School System. Survivors include his wife, Linda S. Sharp; two children, Theresa and Steven Sharp of the home; two sisters, Gladys of Boonton, NJ and Shirley Ernest of Gladstone of MS. A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday March 15, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in Lakewood cemetery, Bowling Green. Family will receive friends at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, Friday 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
C. Douglas Upshaw, Sr., 76 of Bowling Green, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003 in Mary Washington Hospital. Born in Caroline, he was a lifelong farmer and Trustee of Shiloh United Methodist Church at Bagby.
He was a former director of the Sun-Cured Tobacco Marketing Coop, a former director of the Hanover-Caroline Soil and Water Conservation District, a director of the Caroline County Farm Bureau and a member of the Central Virginia Post Polio Support Group.
Survivors include his wife, Margarette Upshaw; a daughter, Donna Tinder of Bowling Green; a son, Carl D. Upshaw, Jr. of Bagby; four sisters, Eloise Hubbard of Richmond, Calista Gilmer of Wytheville, Gen Moffat of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. and Elaine Vaden of Richmond; two grandsons, Brandon and Bryan Tinder of Bowling Green. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin T. "Dick" Upshaw, Jr.

Abbie S. Lund, 98, of Fredericksburg died Sunday, March 9, 2003, at Carriage Hill Nursing Home. A native of South Dakota, Mrs. Lund had retired from the Newell, S.D.school system after of 25 years of teaching. She was educated in South Dakota schools and graduated from Black Hills Teachers College in Spearfish, S.D.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg and Rehoboth
United Methodist Church in Chilesburg. She was also a member of AAUW and Delta Kappa Gamma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arne; and a son, Charles.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Willetto of Durango, Colo., and Charlotte Lund of Hobbs, N.M.; a son, Richard Lund of Ruther Glen; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Thursday, March 13, at 2 p.m. at Storke Funeral Home, with the Rev. Howard Leming officiating. Burial will follow on Monday, March 17, in Pine Slope cemetery, Belle Fourche, S.D.
