H. Jefferson Richardson "Jeff"
Of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2008, in the Wilmington Hospital at the age of 68.
Jeff was born and raised in Oxford, PA, the son of the late Frank and Edna Richardson, graduating from Oxford High School and has made Wilmington his home for the past 30 years. During Jeff's working career he was General Manager of A&P, and Shop-N-Bag supermarkets retiring in 2001. Jeff was a Master Mason of The Oriental Lodge #27, A F&AM. Jeff was a member of Hall-Burke VFW Post and The Moose Lodge in Claymont. He was a Phillies fan and he lived for baseball.
Jeff will be sadly missed by his family; son Jeff Richardson, Jr., daughter-in-law, Dawn Richardson; sister, Janey Adams; grandchildren, Blair Sirman and Darian Mathews; and great-grandson, John C. Sirman. Jeff was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Thelma Eckman and Betty Hastings.
Family and friends are invited to Jeff's viewing on Thursday, December 18, from 7-9 pm, at Gebhart Funeral home of Claymont, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE, (302)798-7726. His funeral service will be at the funeral home on Friday morning at 11 am. Interment will follow in Oxford cemetery, Oxford, PA.

Katherine W. Salisbury
Age 69, of Lewes, DE, passed away Sunday December, 14, 2008, at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
She was born in Washington, DC, daughter to the late, Ivan and Katherine (Donges) Wanless. Katherine was the Secretary and Administrator for former U.S. Senator and Vice President of the United States, Hubert H. Humphrey.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Salisbury in 2007. She is survived by her sons, Vincent, Robert, Paul and Marc; a sister, Mary W. Quade; 7 grandchildren, Gabrielle, Lucas, Robert, Alexandra, Xavier, Benjamin, Kai.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday December 18th at 10 am, at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Long Neck. A visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon from 3-5:00 pm, at the chapel of MELSON FUNERAL SERVICES on Long Neck Road in Long Neck, where a prayer service will be held at 4 pm. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery in Millsboro, following the Mass.

Elizabeth R. Tressler
Age 87, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at Christiana Hospital.
Mrs. Tressler was born on January 10, 1921 in Newark, DE to the late Frank and Verda (Geesaman) Reed. She was employed at Dale's Jewelry Store in Newark for over 30 years. She was a member of Newark Senior Center, where she also volunteered since 1976 and received the Jefferson Award in May 2002.
She is survived by 2 daughters and their husbands, Ruth Anne Benson and Wayne of Bear, DE and Linda DiMartine and Dave of Newark, DE; 2 brothers, Robert R. Reed of Elkton, MD and Edward R. Reed of Newark, DE; 4 grandchildren, Dwayne Benson, Jeffrey Benson, Nicholas DiMartine and Jesse DiMartine and his wife, Jessica and 3 great-grandchildren, Amber Benson, Jesse DiMartine, Jr. and Jazmine DiMartine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse James Tressler, who passed away in 2002 and 3 sisters, Hilda Bromwell, Dorothea Smith and Frances Reed.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Sante Volpe
Mr. Sante Volpe, 82 of Hockessin, DE, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 13, 2008.
Mr. Volpe was born in Torre Dei Nolfi, Italy on July 26, 1926, son of the late Adelmo and Maria Pasqua (Ventresca) Volpe. He came to the United States in 1947 and settled in Philadelphia, where he worked as a bricklayer for six years. He then made Delaware his home and became employed with James Julian, Inc. A talented and skilled contractor, Mr. Volpe formed his own company in 1965, Sante Volpe, Inc., retiring in 1982 after many successful years in business. In his leisure time, he enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing bocce ball and cards, as well as being an avid football fan. His greatest pleasure was his life with his devoted wife and family.
Mr. Volpe is survived by his lovely wife and best friend of 62 years, Aldina (Fontana) Volpe; his daughters, Maria Blevins and Rita Branum; his sons-in-law, Robert Branum and Charles Sharp; his grandchildren, Michael Mongiello and Sandi Cathcart; and his great granddaughter, Deanna Bergman. Mr. Volpe was predeceased by his daughters, Silvana F. Volpe and Gina S. Sharp; his son-in-law, Carl E. Blevins; his brothers, Mario, Settimio, Claudio, Erino and Aldolfo Volpe; and his sister, Lydia DiFrancesco.
The family would like to thank the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice for their loving care and support.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Rd., Wilmington on Friday, December 19, at 12 noon. Entombment will follow in All Saints cemetery, Wilmington. Family and friends may visit at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek on Thursday, December 18, from 5-8 pm and on Friday from 10:30-11:30 am.

Dr. Alfred Thomas Walker, III
Dr. Alfred Thomas Walker, III, age 61, of Oxford, PA, died Thursday morning, December 11, 2008, at Penn Medicine at Rittenhouse, Philadelphia, PA.
He was the husband of Constance "Connie" Louise Wenger-Walker. Alfred as born in Little Falls, NJ the son of the late Alfred T. and Rosalie Christine Kuzmieski Walker, Jr. He had been formerly employed by AVX in South Carolina as a research scientist where he was employed in the formulation and design of capacitors, following that he taught at Lehigh University. He was last employed by DuPont in Wilmington, DE as a senior research scientist where he formulated and designed resistors. Alfred had served in the National Guard as a medic during the Vietnam conflict. He was a member and served on the board of P. C. O. where he chaired the materials committee which researched and reviewed materials for the organic community. He also served on the organic standards committee. He was a member of Organic Material Review Institute where he served on the advisory council and researched and authored technical material reviews for the institute. Alfred volunteered financial assistance to needy college students and was ever ready to share his educational knowledge with others.
A memorial service will be held at the Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Friday, December 19, at 7:30 pm. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 pm, until the time of service. A community memorial service and meal to celebrate Alfred's life will be held in late February and all who were touched by Alfred's life are invited to attend. Notice will be given at a later date.

Bernard Bonk
Age 89, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Foulk Manor North.
Born in Wilmington, Mr. Bonk was the son of the late Vincent and Felicia (Trentowska) Bonk. He served his country during WWII, where he landed at Normandy on D-Day and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He also participated in many other noteworthy battles and earned a bronze star. Afterward, he worked as a machinist for Haveg Industries for over 20 years before his retirement. His memberships included the Pulaski Legion, the Polish Library and St. Hedwig's Church.
In addition to his parents, Bernard was also predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Bednarek) Bonk and his brothers, Ed, Vincent and Joe. He will be missed by his sons, Bernard, Jr. of Cary, NC and John of Hockessin; his grandchildren, Kristin, Kelli, Michael Pat, Shawn and Meghan; 3 great grandchildren, Matthew, Joey and Jaymee; and his brothers, Jesse, Frank and John, all of Wilmington.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 23 at 12 noon at St. Elizabeth's Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington, where visitation will take place between 10-11:45 am. Entombment will follow at All Saints cemetery, Wilmington.

Eleanor E. "Susie" Beamer
Age 77, of Lehigh Acres, FL, passed away on December 6, 2008, at Lehigh Memorial Hospital with her husband at her side.
She was born in West Chester, PA, July 8, 1931 the daughter of the late Walter B. Eachus and Gertrude M. Keeley. She was employed as an electronics assembler with the Burroughs Corporation, Tredyffrin Plant, retiring in 1986.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia E. Eachus. She is survived by her husband, Alfred G. Beamer, Sr.; 3 brothers, Walter Eachus, Earnie Eachus, and Bruce McCoy; a son, David D. McLaughlin and wife Pam; a daughter, Debra McLaughlin; 5 stepsons, Alfred G. Beamer, Jr., John C. Beamer, Kenneth R. Beamer, Donald N. Beamer and Kevin T. Beamer, and their spouses; 2 stepdaughters, Vaughn R. Beamer and Judith C. Beamer; 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm, on Saturday, December 27, at Liberty Fellowship, 245 J Quigley Boulevard, New Castle, Delaware, where friends may call after 12:30 pm.
Ruth P. Brittingham
Age 86, of Millsboro, DE, passed away Monday December 22, 2008.
She was born in Millsboro, daughter of the late, Frank S. and Mildred L. (Lowe) Parker. She was a retired Bookkeeper and part owner of Parker Block Company in Millsboro and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leon O. Brittingham, Sr. She is survived by 2 sons, Leon O. Brittingham, Jr, and his wife Marilyn, Albert R. Brittingham; a daughter, Dolores A. Scarbrough; 2 grandsons, Craig A. Brittingham and his wife Melissa, Mark R. Brittingham; four great grandchildren, Joshua A. Brittingham, Jordan C. Brittingham, Jocelyn M. Brittingham, Chase M. Brittingham.
A graveside service will be held Sunday December 28, at 1 pm, at Millsboro cemetery, where her grandson, Pastor Craig A. Brittingham will officiate.
