Gary Stephen Bridges, 49, of Hopewell died Monday, August 27, 2001 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg. A native of Miami FL, he was co-owner of In Touch Communications in Hopewell. A longtime resident of Colonial Heights, where he graduated from Colonial Heights High School and attended church in the Baptist faith
He is survived by his wife; Judy Ellen Bridges, his mother; Annie Aldridge Wilson of Melbourne, FL, a brother; F. David Bridges of Jacksonville, FL, a sister; Pat Snodgrass also of Melbourne, FL, six nephews and one niece and their families.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August, 31, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights. Hales, Harry L.
Harry L. Hales, 54, of Chester died Thursday, August 30, 2001 at John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell. He was a native of Petersburg and served in the U. S. Air Force.
Mr. Hales is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Ferguson and husband Michael of Prince George; a granddaughter, Jessica Ferguson of Prince George; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Hales, Sr of Colonial Heights; a brother, Joseph C. Hales, Jr. and wife Betty Lou of Colonial Heights; a sister, Ivey H. Miller and husband Robert of Colonial Heights.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 3, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights with the Rev. William C. Hales officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the residence of Joseph C. Hales, Sr., 664 Boulevard, Colonial Heights. Hutto, Johnnie Mae
Johnnie Mae Goins Hutto, 64, of Chesterfield died Sunday September 2, 2001 at her residence. Born in Logan West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John L. Goins. Mrs. Hutto was a member of the Washington Street United Methodist Church and served on the Staff Parrish Committee. After graduating from Petersburg High School and the Medical Collage of Virginia, School of X-Ray Technology, she worked at MCV and Petersburg Hospital as an X-Ray technician for several years. Mrs. Hutto was a charter member of the Ravenscroft Federated Woman’s Club had served two terms as president, from 1984 – 1986 and again from 2000 – 2001, and had been selected as outstanding member in 1983 and again in 1986. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert F. Hutto; wonderful daughter and son in-law Sheryl E. Hutto Driskill and husband James Scott; a granddaughter Berkeley Elizabeth Driskill of Chesterfield; her mother Mae Goins of Colonial Heights; a sister Joan Elloitt and a brother Kenneth Goins, both of Tenn.; devoted friends Sarah and Aubrey Britt of Prince George, and dear friend Mary A. Bennett of Staunton. A Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday at Washington Street United Methodist Church, 22 E. Washington St, Petersburg VA. The Rev. Betsy C. Basehore and Rev. Bill Priddy will officiate. Interment will follow at the Blandford cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7-8:30 at E. Early, Edith J.
Edith J. Early, 79, of Chester, died Saturday, August 18, 2001 at The Ruxton Convalescent Center in Richmond. She was a daughter of the late John David Jordan, Sr. and Ruth Alma Pate Jordan. Mrs. Early was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob Stiegel Early, Sr. and a brother, John David Jordan, Jr.
She is survived by a son, Jacob Stiegel Early, Jr. of Mass; a granddaughter, Rehanna Early of Mass; a sister, Ruth Jordan of Chester; two brothers, Russell L. Jordan of Fairfax Co. and Robert E. Jordan of Ashland as well as numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, August 22, 2001 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John Episcopal Church, 12201 Richmond Street, Chester. Rev. Robert Armstrong will officiate. Hogue, Catherine C.
Catherine C. “Kitty” Hogue 83 of Colonial Heights, VA. Died on Monday, August 20, 2001 in Johnston Willis hospital. She was a native of Chesterfied County and was the daughter of the late William and Nina Parker Caffrey. Mrs. Hogue was a member of Immanuel Baptist Chuch and was a member of the Ruth Sunday school class. Mrs. Hogue was a volunteer for Southside Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her half sister Virginia Bass.
She is survived by her husband, Roy W. Hogue Sr., a son Roy W. Hogue Jr. and fiancé Brenda Webster both of Prince George. A daughter Mildred Mingea and friend Jim Ruble of Colonial Heights. Three grandchildren Pamela Robertson and husband Michael Robertson., Mark Mingea and wife Carol Mingea and Erick Hogue. Six great grandchildren, Courtney, Cameron Mingea, Mandy Hiott, Erin, David and Katie Robertson. A sister Pearl Wells of Richmond, a brother and sister in-law Calvin and Ruth Bennett of Charlotte N.C. A sister and brother in-law Lee and Bill Pegram of Powhatan, VA. A sister in-law Alice Ogburn of Winston Salem. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Therese E. Phillingane, 77, of Dewitt, died Monday, August 27, 2001 at her residence. Born in North Carolina she was the daughter of the late Ardell Davis and Stella Bowden Ellis. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Petersburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Phillingane; three sons, Loyd Phillingane, R. L. Phillingane and Donald Ray Phillingane. She is survived by three daughters, Irene Chappell of Dinwiddie, Greta Watson of Knightdale, NC and Gwen Frazier of Kannapolis, NC; four sons, Louis Phillingane of Petersburg, Herbert Phillingane of Carson, David Phillingane of Dewitt and James Phillingane of Sanford, NC; two brothers, Ben A. Ellis and Floyd Ellis both of Petersburg; twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren.. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday August 30, 2001 in the chapel of E. Lowe, Harvey Belton
Harvey Belton Lowe, 72 of Prince George County, died on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 in Henrico Doctors Hospital. He was born in Ellenton, South Carolina and was the son of the late, Sam Sr. and Josephine Stallings Lowe. Mr. Lowe was a US Navy Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict and was a retired owner of Lowe Electronics. He was a Past Master of Blandford Masonic Lodge #3. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Boughton Lowe.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mark T. and Becky L. Lowe of Carson, VA. Three daughters, and sons in-=law, Debra L. Pizzullo of Dinwiddie, Katrina L. and Waverly E. Smith of Dinwiddie and Kelli L. and Warren Armstrong, Jr. of Carson. One brother, Sam Lowe Jr. of South Carolina. Five grandchildren, Clint Browder, Chris Pizzullo, Chrissy Lowe, Mandy Lowe and Audrey Armstrong.
A memorial service will be Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 2 P.M. at First Christian Church, 301 South Blvd., Petersburg with the Rev. Ronald Hopkins officiating. Ross, Ralph Snipe
Ralph "Snipe" Ross, 77, of Petersburg, died Monday, February 23, 2004 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mattie Hall Ross. Mr. Ross was retired from the former Noldes Bakery with 23 years of dedicated service and was a member of Westend Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis K. Ross, three sons, Billy Joe Ross and wife, Jennifer of Charles City, Ralph Ross, Jr. and Joseph Calvin Ross both of Petersburg; a daughter, Frances Henson of OK; step-sons, Terry L. Thomas and wife, Becky of NC, Dennis Thomas of Dillwyn and Donald R. Thomas of Petersburg; Nancy L. Hower and husband, Jerry of Dinwiddie and Rose Thomas of NC; seventeen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Lillian Ross of Colonial Heights.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. The Rev. John Crocker will officiate. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.

A funeral for Clara O'Bryhim Canaday, 78, of Fredericksburg will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2001 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The Rev. J. Larry Haun will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M.Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Canaday died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Woodmont Health Care Center.
A Stafford County native, she was a member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church and the Caverlee Sunday School class there.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph P. Canaday; a daughter, Diane M. Buser of Stafford; a sister, Margaret L. Rodgers of Falmouth; and two grandchildren.

Terry, Lucy
Lucy Terry, 80, 1487 Aspen Street, Danville, VA died September 11, 2001 at the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born March 15, 1921 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Wilson Terry and Nettie Beck Terry. She was a retired employee of Dimon, Inc.
Survivors include: Three sisters: Telma Terry, Margaret Payne and Queen Stone all of Danville. In addition there is a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the home of Rosa Fitzgerald, 1632 Washington Street.
Funeral Services for Lucy Terry will be conducted Saturday, September 15, 2001 at 2pm at the New Mine Creek Progressive Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Keith Schuler will officiate. Interment wil follow in the Highland Burial Park cemetery.

Tiedeken, Elmer G.
Elmer G. "Mike" Tiedeken, 89 of Colonial Heights died on Saturday, December 13, 2003 in Southside Regional Medical center, Petersburg, He was born in Camden, New Jersey. Mr. Tiedeken was a retired Sergeant in the US Army having served in World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart and many others. He was a member of the American Legion Post #284, VFW Post #2239 and was a member of Highland United Methodist Church, Colonial Heights.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma K. Tiedeken, a son, Donald Tiedeken of Richmond, two stepsons, Michael L. Davis of Colonial Heights and Everett L. Davis III of Sussex, VA. Two grandchildren, Brittany Davis and Mike Everett L. Davis IV. Two great grandchildren, Clara and Christian.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. with the Rev. David Lewis officiating. Robert Jeffery “Jeff” Davis, 45, of Matoaca, Va., died Friday, June 15, 2001, in Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va. A native of Springfield, Ill., he was the son of Betty Hamilton Davis and the late Robert Bruce Davis. Mr. Davis was a US Army veteran, a member of the NRA, and a purchaser with N. B. Goodwyn and Sons Lumber Co. in Chesterfield, Va. He is survived by his wife, Lani J. Davis; two daughters, Rachel D. Davis, and Lisa N. Davis; mother, Betty H. Davis; grandmother, Inez Hamilton of Springfield; two sisters, Peggy and husband, Philip Chiles of Springfield, Lisa and husband, Scott Brovold of Omaha, Neb.; two brothers, Ted E. Davis of Tampa, Fla., and Jim P. Davis of Springfield; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wilbur L. and Deloris W. Joyner of Matoaca, Va.; brothers-in-law, Dave W. Zammett and wife, Laurie, of Boston, Mass., John R. Zammett and wife, Sarah, of Matoaca, Doug J. Zammett and wife, Evie, of Rochester, N.Y.; and other relatives.
