Roy O. Kirby Jr., 64, of Richmond, died Friday, September 1, 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Kirby; a son, Gary Kirby; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Robert Eason; two grandchildren, Colin and Sydney Eason; his mother, Edna Kirby; a brother, Larry Kirby; two sisters, Eloise Jones and LaVerne Ware.
His remains rest at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 4.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 5 at Westhampton Memorial Park.
MARTIN
Armelia Dixon Martin, 71, of Chesterfield, died September 1, 2000.
She was the widow of Roy Preston Martin.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Martin Ligon and Robin Cosby Martin; grandchildren, Charity Woody and Chelsa Barker and her husband, Brad; great-grandsons, Brandon and Jacob Barker; also, Wallace Ligon.
Her remains rest at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10), where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church.

McINTOSH
Mrs. Dell Tinsley McIntosh, 79, of Richmond, died Wednesday, August 30, 2000.
She is survived by her husband, James M. McIntosh; two daughters, Jan Lewis Moore and her husband, Tim of Spotsylvania, and Jill McIntosh Johnson of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Dane Lewis, Mark Johnson and Leigh Johnson.
Mrs. McIntosh was a native of Italy, Texas.
She was employed as a Secretary in Administration at Pueblo Air Force Base in Colorado, where she met Mr. McIntosh.
They were wed in 1945 in Orange, Va.
Mrs. McIntosh was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, where she served on the Altar Guild and was a Sunday School teacher.
A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at All Saints Episcopal Church with interment in the Memorial Garden.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of All Saints Episcopal Church, 8787 River Road, Richmond, Va. 23229.

OVERTON
Mr. Bernard Leigh Overton of Richmond, Va., died August 31, 2000 at Brunswick Cove Nursing Center in Leland, N.C.
He was born in Prince Edward County, Va., on June 4, 1921 and was 79 years old.
He was the son of Mr. John Bondurant Overton and Mrs. Ida Leigh Bondurant and was married to Mae Slayton Overton.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Bernard Leigh Overton is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mae S. Overton of Richmond; one son, Bernie L. Overton Jr. and wife, Peggy of Leland, N.C.; one grandchild, Whitney Overton of Leland, N.C.; one brother, Edward T. Overton of Halifax; one sister, Minnie O. Goodman of Alexandria.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda O. Divley.
Graveside services for Mr. Bernard Leigh Overton will be held Sunday, September 3, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in South Boston, Va., at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Stewart conducting the service.
The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home Saturday from 7 until 8:30 p.m.

William F. Owens, 92, of Bohannon, died Thursday, August 31, 2000, at his home.
He was a native of Mathews and a seafood dealer in Baltimore, Md., until his retirement.
Mr. Owens was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Bohannon.
survived by two nieces; Cecelia Etheridge Cartwright of Vermont and Ellen Louise Owens Cook of Pennsylvania; one great-niece and three great-nephews.
His remains rest at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 3, 2000.
Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery, Miles.

RUSSINSKY
On Thursday, August 31, 2000, Helen C. Russinsky of Silver Spring, Md., formerly of Richmond, Va., beloved wife of the late Julius Russinsky; devoted mother of Edith R. (Philip) Zlotnick; loving sister of David (Elaine) Clayman.
Also survived by two granddaughters, Karen Zlotnick and Lori (Michael) Zanville; and one great-granddaughter, Amanda Zanville.

RYLAND
John William Ryland, 93, lifelong resident of Urbanna, died peacefully Friday, September 1, 2000.
He was the son of the late Walter Hugh Ryland and Lillie Hardman Ryland.
Retired Superintendent of Law Enforcement for the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, where for 20 years he protected the tidal rivers of Virginia, which he loved so dearly. Bill was truly a town father who contributed profoundly to his church and community.
At Urbanna Baptist Church he served as teacher, deacon, choir member, treasurer, building committee chairman and in countless other positions.
Former Urbanna Boosters Club president and first president of the Urbanna Chamber of Commerce, he served as one of the area’s first scoutmasters, was a charter member of the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, longtime member of American Legion Post 82 in Saluda and served on the Urbanna Town Council.
A World War II Navy veteran, he served as a Seabee on Midway.
He attended the University of Richmond, where he ran on the school’s cross country team.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Quillin Ryland; two sons, Walter H. Ryland and his wife, Madelaine Aerni Ryland of Richmond, John William Ryland III and his wife, Claudia Robins Ryland of Williamsburg; four grandchildren, Mark and Caroline Ryland of Richmond, Ashley Ryland Willis and her husband, John Willis of Richmond and John Page Ryland and his wife, Betsy Ryland of Urbanna; four great-grandchildren, Ryland, Ben and Reed Willis of Richmond and Page Ryland of Urbanna.
He is also survived by his sister, Alice Ryland Winn of Urbanna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends at Bill and Evelyn’s home in Urbanna Saturday from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Urbanna Baptist Church with burial to follow at Hermitage Baptist Church Cemetery, Church View, Virginia.

RZASA
Joseph R. Rzasa, age 68, of Bracey, Va., died August 30, 2000.
He was a retired veteran of foreign wars and the recipient of the Legion of Merit and Bronze Stars.
He is survived by his wife, Renate Rzasa; son, Joel Rzasa of Westminster, Md.; sister, Patricia Dime of Berwyn, Ill.; and nephews and nieces.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or charity of choice.
SCOTT
Mrs. Marta C. Scott, 61, of Mechanicsville, passed away August 31, 2000.
She was born in Poland on November 4, 1938.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Zofia and Jozef Talarowski; a sister, Elizabeth Wawrzyniak; a niece, Theresa Rice; a nephew, Andrew (Andy) Wawrzyniak; and a nephew/godson, Edmund (Ed) Czerniakiewicz.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Howard L. Scott; one daughter, Renay Miller; one granddaughter, Zerlina Miller; two brothers, William E. (Bill) Czerniakiewicz and his wife, Joyce, and John B. (Jonny) Talarowski; a brother-in-law, Zbigniew (Bish) Wawrzyniak; two nieces, Mary Diggs and her husband, Paul and Julia Brooks Czerniakiewicz; two nephews, Karl W. Wawrzyniak and his wife, Susan, and James (Jimmy) Wawrzyniak.
She was retired from Allied Chemical with 30 years of service and a member of Mechanicsville United Methodist Church.
She will be missed by her family and many, many friends.

Wyatt Slade, 54, of Hopewell, died Friday, September 1, 2000 in MCV Hospital.
He was born in Newport News and was raised in Surry County.
He was the son of the late Wyatt Slade III and Cloteal Hill S lade.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of Vietnam and was retired from Honeywell.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, DuPont Lodge 289, AF & AM, Petersburg Union Royal Arch Chapter #7, Appomattox Commandery #6, Petersburg, ACCA Temple Shrine, Richmond, Past Worshipful Master of Wakefield Lodge #198 AF & AM, Past Worthy Patron of Adah Chapter #7, Eastern Star, Hopewell Shrine Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Loyal Order of Moose, Hopewell.
Mr. Slade is survive by his wife, Kay Slade; and daughter, Kathy Slade of Hopewell.
The family will receive friends at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bill Wash, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

James Franklin Smith Sr., 63, of Richmond, passed away September 1, 2000.
He is survived by his mother, Lennie Smith Parrish; one sister, Lois Pulley; a devoted brother-in-law, Tommy; four children, James (J.J.), Curtis, Kellie McMeeken and Tonya Williams; eight grandchildren, one niece, two nephews and many good friends.

Istvan Tolnay, 87, died September 1, 2000.
He was the widower of Jeanette Tolnay and is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie Tolnay and John Evans and Helen Tolnay and Michael Kerner; four granddaughters, Claire, Grace, Anna and Leah; and special friend, Nina Rowe.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, 10:30 a.m. (today) at St. Benedicts Catholic Church.
Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Eliza Hamlette Williams, 91, entered eternal rest Thursday, August 31, 2000 at Holly Manor Nursing Home, Farmville, Va.
Mrs. Williams was born in Charlotte County, Va., May 29, 1909 to the late John and Betsy (Carter) Hamlette.
Eliza was educated in both Charlotte County and Thyne Institute in Chase City, Va.
She received a bachelor of science degree from St. Paul’s College, Lawrenceville, Va.
She was a beloved teacher in Mecklenburg County School system for 30 years before retiring in 1975.
She was a faithful member of Trinity Episcopal Church and worked vigorously to preserve its existence.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Leo.
Cherishing her memories are one son, Victor Leo Williams (Gloria), Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren, Quentin Lamont and Jessica Annette Williams, both of Richmond, Va.; five sisters, Bertie H. Jeffries, Pittsburgh, Pa., Bessie H. Lowe, Charlotte Court House, Va., Dorthula H. Wright, Vandergrift, Pa., Hassie H. Hubbard, Farmville, Va. and Blanche H. Gaitor, Petersburg, Va.; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, September 3 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 107 W. Fifth Street, Chase City, Va. with Rev. Mary Alice Moseley officiating.

June C. Wilson of Mechanicsville, widow of Claiborne L. Wilson Jr., died Thursday, August 31, 2000.
She is survived by four loving children, Steven M., W. Scott and Daniel R. Wilson, and Marisa Napier; a devoted brother and four sisters, Percy F. Chenault of Ruther Glen, Evelyn C. Loftis of Henrico, Demple Marie Barlow, Arlene C. Barlow and Delores C. Golden, all of Ruther Glen; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by a brother, Alexander Lee Chenault.
Mrs. Wilson was a retired employee of Signet Bank and a member of the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Mechanicsville.
