William R. Warman (Grandpop), died April 21, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Thelma G. Warman; his son, W. Wayne Warman; his step-daughter, Thelma Enroughty; four grandchildren; his brother, John Warman; his sister, Elizabeth Drake. Mr. Warman was a World War II Navy veteran. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. where the family will receive friends Friday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. at Westhampton Memorial Park.
YANCEY
Margaret Wagstaff Yancey, 80, widow of Norman Allen Yancey, died Thursday, April 22, 1999 in the Woodview Nursing Home. Mrs. Yancey was born in Skipwith, graduating from Clarksville High School in 1936. She was a homemaker and member of Clarksville Baptist Church where she participated in the Grace Sunday School Class. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Clarksville Baptist Church with the Rev. H. V. Conner officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakhurst Cemetery. Surviving are sons, Norman Allen Yancey Jr. of Clarksville and Russell George Yancey of Keysville; brother, Cleveland G. Wagstaff of Chase City; and two grandchildren. Helen Natalie Austin, 92, of Westminster-Canterbury, 1600 Westbrook Ave., died September 28, 1999. She was a communicant of St. James’s Episcopal Church, a member of The Woman’s Club of Richmond and the Virginia Historical Society. Miss Austin was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. J. William Austin of Bedford, Va. She is survived by several cousins. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 4, at 12 noon in Oakwood Cemetery, Bedford, Va. Ethel C. Brown, 86, of Richmond, departed this life on Thursday, September 30, 1999 to go answer God’s call to reside in her eternal home with her Lord and Savior. She enters a lovely hereafter of tranquility and peace, a place of no suffering or pain, after experiencing a lengthy illness while residing in the home of her dedicated daughter, Sheila; and loving and committed son-in-law, John Evans. She leaves behind to fondly cherish her memory, a devoted and loving daughter, Sheila B. Evans; a caring son, Fred M. Brown; and a beloved daughter, Ginny Phoenix. She will be greatly missed by numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Granddaughter, Toni Haymaker, is grateful for her love and the opportunity to have participated in her daily care during her extended illness. She goes to be reunited with her loving husband, Everette L. Brown; and two loving sons, Robert and William Haymaker. She will be richly rewarded in heaven for being a loving and devoted wife and mother. She rejoiced daily in her servitude to her Heavenly Father, and coveted her Christian walk and salvation. Walter Howard Dunn of Richmond, retiree of Virginia Carolina Chemical Corporation and Mobil Chemical Corporation, died Wednesday, September 29, 1999. He was a member of Ridge Baptist Church, a veteran of World War II, Past Commander of V.F.W. Post 6364, a member Westhampton Lodge #302 and Scottish Rite, and a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Flo Rilla Dunn; daughters, Flo Fontaine and Martha Ligon; grandchildren, Taylor Fontaine, Steve and Stewart Burns, and Christine and Patricia Nuckols; and sister, Jane Dunn. Stanley A. Garcia, 73, of Richmond, died Wednesday, September 29, 1999. Mrs. Elsie Louise Pollard Hewett, age 89, of Lake Shore, Md. died on Wednesday, September 29, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne L. Hewett, and is survived by her daughter, Elsie Lo uise Wright and her husband, Colonel William J. Wright, of Irvington, Va.; her grandchildren, Brian Hewett Wright of Va. Beach, Va., Leslie Wright Fisher and her husband, William Charles Fisher of Salisbury, Md., and twin great-grandsons, Alexander Giles Fisher and William Henry Fisher III. Mrs. Hewett was the daughter of Nancy Douglas Dunn of Dunnsville, Va. and Edward Garthright Pollard of Richmond, Va. She was one of ten children born in Wilmington, Del. One sister, Gertrude Pollard Josendale, and one brother, Francis Pollard of New Castle, Del. survive. A private service will be held at Asbury Church, Port Deposit, Md. with interment in the family’s burial grounds in the church cemetery.

H. Calvin Kibler of Richmond died Thursday, September 30, 1999. Mr. Kibler was a Lt. (USN) in WWII, a graduate of University of Richmond, member of First Baptist Church, retired owner Bacon Insurance Agency, and a life master at bridge. Survivors include his wife, Tee Hill Kibler; a brother, Vernon C. Kibler of Richmond; a niece, Mary Frances Meyers; nephews, Douglas M., Robert D., and Dr. D.L. Collins. Remains rest at Woody Funeral Home Parham Chapel where family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. and where services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. LEWIS
The Reverend Cotesworth Pinckney Lewis, 86, Rector Emeritus of Bruton Parish Church, Williamsburg, Va., died September 29, 1999 at the Williamsburg Landing. Born June 9, 1913 in Birmingham, Ala., the Reverend Lewis was reared and educated in his native state and served congregations in Alabama and Arkansas prior to becoming Dean of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock. In 1956 he was appointed 32nd Rector of Bruton Parish Church, where he served with distinction until his retirement in 1985. At Trinity and at Bruton, Dr. Lewis guided the churches during periods of rebuilding and renewal. During his tenure at Bruton he gained international recognition and welcomed leaders from all over the world to service there. He had served on numerous boards throughout the U.S. and filled a significant role in the 1983 Economic Summit in Williamsburg. Preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Louise Barclay Lewis, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa Lewis Russell and her husband, Jon F. Russell of Vero Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Richard Lewis of Greeneville, Va. and Edmond Lewis of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and two sisters, Deborah Larson of Eugene, Ore. and Catherine Hume of Salem, Conn. Services will be held simultaneously at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 1999 at Bruton Parish Church with the Rt. Rev. David C. Bane, Bishop of the Diocese of Southern Virginia, and Rev. Herman Hollerith IV, Rector of Bruton Parish, officiating, and at Trinity Cathedral, Little Rock, Ark., with the Very Rev. Henry Hudson, Dean, officiating. Linda Newman Ludwig, 86, died peacefully on September 30, 1999. A life long resident of Ashland, Virginia, she was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Ashland. She was a graduate of St. Cather ine’s School in Richmond and a member of the Ashland Garden Club and the Country Club of Virginia. Mrs. Ludwig was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Denton Ludwig. Survivors include her son, Jack D. Ludwig Jr. of Hollywood, Florida; and two daughters, Mary Denny and her husband, Blaine of Virginia Beach and Linda Magovern and her husband, Malcolm of Ashland. She is also survived by a sister, Catherine Blanton Seay of Norfolk; and four grandchildren, Jack D. Ludwig III of Richmond, James Blaine Denny IV and Claire Blanton Denny of Virginia Beach and Malcolm Magovern III of Ashland. The family will receive friends and visitors at the home, 302 College Avenue in Ashland from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 1. Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 2 in St. Ann’s Catholic Church, followed by a private burial service.
