Hanks, Sr.; a brother, J. W. (Billy) Hanks, Jr.; a sister, and brother-in-law, Janice and Greg Simmons; a stepsister, Phyllis Brown; a stepbrother, Charles H. Luck, Jr.; several nieces and a nephew. HART
Myrtle "Pert" T. Hart, 93, of Morgantown, W.Va., formerly of Lakeside Area, Va., died, Wednesday, February 5, 1997, at Mon Pointe Continuing Care Center. She was born August 30, 1903, in Richmond, Va., daughter of the late John Watkins and Annie Virginia Ford Toombs. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church in Richmond. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. James (Ann) Reeves, of Morgantown, W.Va.; two grandchildren, William A. Hamrick, of Canton, Ohio; Ms. Sharon Browning, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Welford Hart. Friends may call the Joseph W. Bliley Funeral Home, Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Stales Mill Road, Richmond, Va. from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Westhampton Memorial Park with Rev. HELFRICH
Robert B. Helfrich Sr., retired lighting manufacturers' representative and founder of the Helfrich Agency of Richmond, died February 5, 1997. Mr. Helfrich was born in Catonsville, Md. After receiving his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia military Institute, he was employed by General Electric Co. During WW II, Mr. Helfrich served as Captain in the Corps of Engineers, European Theatre of Operations. After the war, he was affiliated with General Electric Supply Co. and was selected lighting specialist for the State of Virginia. He later was named Branch Manager for G.E. Supply Co. in Raleigh, N.C. In 1955, Mr. Helfrich established The Helfrich Agency in Virginia Beach. He moved the agency to Richmond in 1960 and served as President and CEO until his retirement in January, 1996. Mr. Helfrich was a member and past president of the Virginia Illuminating Engineering Society, and other professional engineering societies. He was a charter member of the Westwood Racquet Club and served with The Henrico Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Desmond Helfrich; two sons, Robert B. Helfrich Jr. of Virginia Beach, David W. Helfrich of Midlothian; one daughter, Nancy H. Pittman of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Thomas C. Helfrich of Vero Beach, Fla. and Samuel W. Helfrich; a sister, Mary Helfrich, all of St. Augustine, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Welborne United Methodist Church, 920 Maybeury Drive at Patterson Ave., February 11, 1997 at 3 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Mary's Hospital, Bon Secours Hospice Program, 5801 Bremo Rd., Richmond 23226, Tuckahoe Vol. Rescue Squad, 1101 Horsepen Rd., Richmond 23229, Richmond Area American Cancer Society or a charity of personal choice.

Mrs. Ethel N. Jackson, widow of James E. "Buck" Jackson, departed this life February 4, 1997. Mrs. Virginia Halloway Maddra, 79, widow of Allie Vester Maddra Jr., died Wednesday, February 5, 1997. She was a native of Petersburg, Va., and lifelong resident of this area and was the daughter of the late, Walter and Mary Hack Halloway. Mrs. Maddra was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #136, Ettrick, Va. She was a retired plant nurse for Continental Forest Industries, Hopewell, Va. Mrs. Maddra is survived by three daughters, Jennie M. Fleshood of Nashville, Tenn., Annette M. Horner of Wynnewood, Pa., and Linda B. Maddra of Spring Grove, Va.; one son, Allie V. "Buck" Maddra III, of Midlothian, Va.; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Vaughan of Oakridge, N.C.; a number of cousins and close friends. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 10, 1997 11 a.m. at the graveside in Southlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Prince George Co., with The Very Rev. John S. Horner, Rector of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Ardmore, Pa., and Dr. Dorothy McNeer O'Quinn, Pastor of Salem Sycamore United Methodist Church, Newville officiating. Donald N. Maloy, died February 6, 1997. He was retired from Advest, Inc., a veteran of WW II, a member of the Optimist Club of Richmond, the Navy League American Legion Post #84, the 90 and Nine Breakfast Club, West Richmond Businessmen's Association, the Westwood Club, and the Hermitage Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Elise H. Maloy; stepchildren, Lynn Cave and her husband Rodney, Don Wilhite and his wife, Becky, and Patricia Horne; grandchildren, Melanie Wilhite, Erin and Ethan Cave. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 12 noon at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., with private burial following. Betty (Ma) F. Olson of Chesterfield County, born January 24, 1936, died February 6, 1997. Born in Greenville, S.C. to the late A. W. and Lillie Fowler, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Kenneth Olson. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela O. Coleman, son-in-law, Bill Coleman, and their sons, John and Mike Coleman, all of Chesterfield; son, Charles T. (Tom) Olson, and his wife, Sallie Olson, and their children Anders and Ingrid Olson, all of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; sister, Edith Davenport, and two brothers, Jack Fowler, and Clayton Fowler, all of Greenville, S.C.; brother, Curtis Fowler of St. Cloud, Fla.
