Walter O. "Buddy" Carsley, 73, of Chase City widower of Hester Carsley, died Tuesday, February 4, 1997. He was a retired farmer and a member of Salem Christian Church. He is survived by two sons, Bobby Carsley, Spotsylvania and Kermit Thompson, Chase City and three grandchildren. Friends may call at Wood Funeral Service, Chase City, 7 to 8:30 tonight. Catherine Twisdale Clinton of Richmond, widow of Harley J. Clinton, died Tuesday, February 4, 1997. She is survived by three sisters, Virginia T. Marcaurel of Norfolk, Marion T. Mount of Virginia Beach and Norma T. Richardson of Richmond; one brother, Harvey E. Twisdale of Mt. Dora, Fla.; two nieces, Jerry Richardson Halsey and Terry Richardson Wagoner; and one nephew, John L. Twisdale all of Richmond. He is survived by his daughter and son-in- law, Myrna Fogel Lynn and Irwin Lynn; son and daughter-in-law, Isaac Fogel and Jo Benson Fogel, Potomac, MD; seven grandchildren, Alan and Bruce Schonfeld both of California, Marci El-Baba, Northern, VA, Adrian, Dana, Marc and Stacy Fogel, Potomac, MD; four great-grandchildren, Courtney and Tori Schonfeld, Leyla and Camile El-Baba. Lillie C. Grady, 88, formerly of Wooster, died Tuesday, February 4, 1997 at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Dalton. Services will be Saturday 2 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., Richmond. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond, Va. on Saturday. She was born October 3, 1908 in Jones County, N.C. to W.W. and Sophia (Jarman) Combs. She married Jack C. Grady, June 18, 1929. He died in 1982. She moved to Richmond in 1946 where she worked for Liggett and Myers, Inc. for 25 years, retiring in 1971. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidering. Surviving is a son, Jack C. Grady Jr. of Navarre; two grandchildren, Steven Grady of Santa Cruz, Calif. and Melinda Grady of Cincinnati; a sister, Blanch Hathaway of Pollocksville, N.C.; brothers, Bradford Combs of Columbia, S.C. and Spencer Combs of Wilmington, N.C.; a son, Cecil Grady and brothers, Woodrow, Thomas, Horace, Robert and Dan Combs died previously.

Helen Webb Grigg of Richmond, widow of Austin E. Grigg, died Tuesday, February 4, 1997. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth C. and Virginia H. Grigg; two grandsons, Andrew S. Grigg and Matthew A. Grigg; a sister, Bessie W. Bowman; nephew, Dr. Leslie S. Webb Jr. and family, all of Richmond. Mrs. Grigg was a member of River Road Church, Baptist, and the Tuckahoe Woman's Club. Remains rest at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Mr. Myrtle "Myrt" James Harding, age 90 of Richmond, died Wednesday, February 5, 1997. He is survived by two sons, William A. Harding and James R. Harding of Tennessee; one brother, Raymond Harding; one sister, Gerline Jenkins; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Mr. Harding was retired from American Tobacco Co. Israel Ipson of Richmond, born March 15, 1911, in Kaunas, Lithuania, Holocaust survivor and philanthropist, died Wednesday, February 5, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Edna B. Ipson; his son, Jay M. Ipson; daughter-in-law, Eleanor G. Ipson; 3 grandchildren, Edith, Ronny and Esther; 4 great-grandchildren, all of Richmond. Bobby F. Langford, 34, of Richmond, died February 3, 1997. MASTERSON
Mr. James Thomas Masterson of 106 Darcy Drive, Clarksville, died at his residence Tuesday, February 4, 1997. He was born in New York City and reared in White Plains, N.Y. He was the son of the late James Masterson and Bridget Early Masterson. He received his Masters Degree in Psychology from University of Notre Dame and a B.S. in Liberal Arts from Penn State. He worked as a civil service employee functioning in Personnel. He served as Chief Appeals Examiner for the U.S. Government and as assistant Postmaster General for several years. He was head of the Physical Education Department at the University of Notre Dame. He served in the Air Force during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 8163 and the American Legion Post 43. He was a member of Saint Catherine's Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, February 7 at Saint Catherine's Catholic Church. The Celebrant will be Father James M. Fosnot. Interment services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, February 8 in the Fairfax Memorial Gardens in Fairfax, Va. Mr. Masterson is survived by his wife, Alice Wooters Masterson of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Bridget M. Dusenbury of Arlington, Mrs. Susan Masterson Corbacho of New York, N.Y., Mrs. Patricia M. Snyder of Clifton and Ms. Elayne Masterson of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Mary M. Dusenberry; a brother, Father Harold Masterson, both of Orange Park; three grandchildren, Lauren, Cailyn and Ross Snyder.
