Mrs. Louise Hicks (Dootsie) Davis, age 54, of Richmond, died Monday, May 19, 1997. She was the widow of Jasper Ray Davis, a former Detective with the Richmond Police Department. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte D. Moore; and her son, Richard Michael Davis; two grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Barbara C. Hicks; and two nieces. Mrs. Davis was a Switchboard Operator for the Virginia Credit Union. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 12-2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Washington Memorial Park.
FLETCHER
Lawrence (Bubba) Edward Fletcher, 60, of Richmond, died May 18, 1997. He is survived by two brothers, Herman S. Fletcher Jr., and Frederick B. Fletcher; a sister, Mrs. Rosemary Gammon and her husband, Thomas I. Gammon; two nephews, T. Stewart Gammon and his wife, Sharon; Brother Pio Maria E.C. of the Camaldolese Order in Bloomingdale, Ohio; two great-nieces, Ashlee Brooke and Heather Elizabeth Gammon. Mr. Fletcher was a partner of the Little Five Azalea Farm and a member of the Virginia Nursery Association and a graduate of Benedictine High School in 1954. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Margie Marie Garrett of Powhatan died May 18, 1997. She is survived by two daughters, Kathryn M. Garrett of Powhatan and Rosa W. Weller of Lynchburg; one son, James W. Woodson of Powhatan; one brother, Eddie Crouse of Richmond; one sister, Dorothy Fry of Missouri; five grandchildren, Ann Marie, Jay, Paul and T.J. Woodson and Lee Weller. George W. (G.W.) Gentry, 52, of Midlothian, died Monday, May 19, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Chenault Gentry; a daughter, Crystal Gentry; son, Will Gentry; stepson, Travis Beattie; grandson, Eon Gentry; three sisters, Shelby Carter, Helen Hall and Phyllis Sager; three brothers, Edwin, Kenneth (Butch) and Dennis Gentry. Mr. Gentry was the owner and operator of G.W. Gentry Water Wells. GILBERT
Lee Eugene Gilbert, 86, of Richmond, died May 17, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Jean Carney Gilbert; his children, Patricia Gilbert Jeffress and Lee Eugene Gilbert Jr.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Carney Jeffress and Jena Lee Gilbert; a sister, Virginia Gilbert Johns of St. Louis. Mr. Gilbert was retired from the State Corporation Commission as Supervisor of Refunds, Motor Carrier Taxation Division and was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. Family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in River view Cemetery. Arthur A. Girard, 92, formerly of North Adams, Massachusetts passed away May 16, 1997 in Richmond. He is survived by his sons, Arthur L. Girard of Richmond, Va. and Charles A. Girard of Danville, Ky. and his daughter, Lorraine A. Girard of Rockville, Md.; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, Erin, who brought great joy to his life. Services will be held Monday, May 19, 1997 at Notre Dame Church with burial to follow at Southview Cemetery. Rebecca K. Hunter, 57, of Vero Beach, Florida, died May 17, 1997. She was a resident nurse and a graduate of Grace Hospital Nursing School in Richmond, Virginia.
