KIERSON
Bruce A. Kierson, 44, of Richmond, died Friday, September 24, 1999. He is survived by his sister, Linda Holt; three brothers, Don, Kevin and Keith Kierson; four nieces, Susie Miller, Heather Meyerhoeffer, Jessica and Shawna Kierson; one nephew, Joey Kierson. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bliley Funeral Home’s Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
LOBA
Raymond F. Loba, a lifelong businessman, died Saturday, September 25, 1999 after a short illness. The Detroit native grew up on a farm in nearby St. Clair County, and went into the tire business in 195 5 in Pontiac, Mich. He semi-retired and moved his family to Crozet in 1976. He later relocated to the Richmond area operating James River Tire for several years. Mr. Loba was a decorated Naval veteran, who served aboard the Battleship Washington in the Pacific during WW II and also saw action in Korea, landing United Nations troops at Inchon. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Oke Loba of Richmond; daughter, Susan Loba Dorn and husband, Terrell of Midlothian; two sons, James Raymond Loba of Richmond, and Dennis Raymond Loba and wife, Donna of Orlean, Va.; grandchildren, Matthew, Jason and Elizabeth Dorn, Melanie and Grace Loba. A memorial service will be held at the West End Assembly of God, Parham Rd., Richmond, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 28th.
MONCURE
Miss Scott Moncure, 63, of Stafford, Va., died Sunday, September 26, 1999 at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, Va. A retired librarian from both Prince William County and Stafford County Sch ool Systems, and life member of Aquia Episcopal Church. She was known statewide as an avid horsewoman and trainer. survived by her brother and sister-in-law, George V. Moncure IV and Mary Catherine Moncure of Stafford, Va.; three nephews, George V. Moncure V of Reston, Va., John Eric Moncure of San Francisco, Calif., and James Ashby Moncure of Stafford, Va. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 29, 1999, 11 a.m. at the Aquia Episcopal Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence on Tuesday, September 28, 1999, from 6 until 8 p.m. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Elsie White Moore, age 81, of Hartfield died Sunday, September 26, 1999. She was a native of Hampton where she was a former member of Hampton Christian Church and Hampton Baptist Church. She had been a resident of Middlesex County for more than 30 years and was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church. She graduated from Hampton High School, attended Mary Washington College and was a member of the Hampton Women’s Club. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Jefferson Moore; and her parents, Nannie and Thomas White; and is survived by her husband, Fitzhugh C. Moore; her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly M. and James M. Barnhardt of Mathews; and her three grandchildren, Christopher, Nancy and Jacqueline Barnhardt. NOSKER
Elizabeth Gooldin Nosker was born April 18, 1914 in Galia County, Ohio. She passed away September 24, 1999 at her residence, 12401 Gayton Road, Richmond, Va. Removed to McMechen, W.Va., as a child, s he attended the public schools there, graduating from Union High School. Upon graduation she was employed by Manufacturers Light and Heat Co., Bellaire, Ohio. She was united in marriage with John L. Nosker on June 30, 1946. To this union one daughter was born, Holly N. Henley, Tempe, Ariz., who survives, along with her husband, William L. Henley; and grandsons, John Justin Henley and Brandon David Henley, all of Tempe, Ariz. The deceased became a member of the Church of Christ in her youth. At the time of her passing she was a member of the West End Church of Christ, Richmond. From an early age she was a teacher of children’s Bible classes and later also taught ladies’ Bible classes. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home’s Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 4:30 p.m., and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 27, 1999. John Boone Purser, 44 years old, passed away Saturday evening, September 25, 1999. He was the son of the late Lat and Ruth Purser of Charlotte, N.C. He is survived by his daughter, Claren Taylor Purse r; his once wife and forever friend, Anne Coleman Purser; his brother and sister-in-law, Lat and Kathy Purser; two nephews, Lat and Adam Purser of Charlotte, N.C.; and many friends. James (Jim) S. Rasnic, 59, of Richmond, passed away Friday, September 24, 1999. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy M. Rasnic; and a granddaughter, Erica Burch. He is survived by his wife, Shelvia J. Rasnic; three daughters, Judy Morris and husband, David Morris of Sandston, Janet Johnston and husband, Jayme Johnston of Lynchburg, and Tracey Hill and husband, David Hill of Mechanicsville; his mother, Margaret Brooks Rasnic; one sister, Bettie Huddleston; one brother, John Rasnic; six grandchildren. Mr. Rasnic was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the St. John’s Masonic Lodge #36, AF&AM, and a member of the Shriner’s. He was an independent agent with AFLAC of Columbus, Ga., since 1976. He was affiliated with the East End Assembly of God Church. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where services will be held 2 p.m. Monday (today). Verna Woody Westmoreland, 82, of Warsaw died on Thursday, September 23, 1999. Mrs. Westmoreland was the widow of L. E. Westmoreland, retired from the Credit Bureau of Warsaw, and a member of Warsaw United Methodist Church. Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Bradley Leddy of Palm Beach Garden, Fla.; two grandchildren, Sandra Jordan and Patrick Leddy; and four great-grandchildren. Inez McGhee Williamson, 87, of Richmond went to her eternal home Saturday, September 25, 1999 at Retreat Hospital. She is survived by her brother, Linwood W. McGhee of Mechanicsville.
