MORRISSEY
Ambrose A. (Bud) Morrissey Jr., 77, of Richmond, died Wednesday, February 27, 2002 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth H. Morrissey; four sons, Patrick A. Morrissey, John A. Morrissey, Thomas M. Morrissey and William E. Morrisey; and two daughters, Mary E. Morrissey and Jean M. Sanner, all of Richmond, Va.; his grandchildren, Rachel and Michael Morrissey (children of Patrick and Karen Morrissey), Mitchell and Amanda Morrissey (children of William and Jacki Morrissey); three sisters, Louise M. Moyer of Cantonsville, Md., Helen M. Wren of Richmond, Va. and Ruth M. Bain of Charlottesville, Va. Mr. Morrissey graduated in 1951 from the School of Engineering at Virginia Tech, and was a veteran of WWII serving in the Navy Seabees from 1943 to 1946. He was a retired Senior Electrical Engineer with 41 years of service with Reynolds Metal Co. and was a licensed professional engineer. February 28, 2002 in our presence the almighty heavenly father embraced Lewis B. Moseley of Lawrenceville, Va., who in his life time set an example that could be followed by all. With that embrace Dad's wings were freed and he flew from this life's existence to the promised world of peace, love, and no wrong. He was a special husband, father, and true friend to many. He leaves to cherish his memory forever, Frances P. Moseley his wife, of 28 years; the children he considered his own, George and Debbie Clore, William and Ruth Clore; his grandchildren, Charles, Melody, Michelle, Donald, Annie, Theresa, Deanna; seven great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Robert Charles Pearson; his sister, Nellie Bowen of Alberta; a brother and his wife, Aubrey and Willie "Tee" Moseley of Lawrenceville; two nephews, James Bishop Moseley of Danville and Charles Bowen of Jarrett; and a special niece, Barbara Slayton of Alberta, who provided nursing care for him. He was preceded in death by Alice Moore, his first wife and Barbara Royall, a daughter. Visitation will be at 711 Windsor Avenue Lawrenceville, Va., Saturday March 2, 2002 from 3 to 5 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at The Lawrenceville Baptist Church, on South Hicks St. in Lawrenceville, Va., at 1:30 p.m., Sunday March 3, 2002. OWEN
Dr. Fletcher Bailey Owen Jr., 72, died February 28, 2002. Dr. Owen was born on November 6, 1929 in Richmond, Va., the son of Annie Laura Ennis and Fletcher Bailey Owen. He graduated from John Marshall High School. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Richmond in June 1951, and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the Medical College of Virginia in June 1956. He received his M.D. from the Medical College of Virginia in 1959. The following year, 1959 to 1960, he served one year of rotating internship at Richmond Memorial Hospital. Dr. Owen was a member of the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of Virginia, the Richmond Academy of Medicine, the Virginia Academy of Science, the New York Academy of Sciences and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Owen was the Director of Medical Services for the A.H. Robins Company from July 1, 1960 until his retirement in February of 1990. He was named Assistant Vice President in 1998. In addition to his responsibilities at the A.H. Robins Company, he held the title of Lecturer in Pharmacology with the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Owen was respected and loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his sister, Mildred Owen Lane; his niece, Bonnie Belvin Brown; nephew, Orion Belvin III; three grandnieces and nephews and two great-grandnieces and nephews. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
PARRISH
Agnes Hughes Parrish, 100, of Kents Store, died February 28, 2002 at the King Adult Home in Louisa. Born August 28, 1901 in Wilmington, Va., daughter of the late John S. and Mary Ella Perkins Hughes. She was the widow of Louis Edward Parrish and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Parrish. Mrs. Parrish taught school in Fluvanna County from 1919 to 1922 when she married. She and Mr. Parrish raised their four children and in 1946 she began teaching again. Most of her teaching was fourth and fifth grades at Columbia District School in Fluvanna County from which she retired in 1967. Mrs. Parrish was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, Louis E. Parrish Jr. of Kents Store, John Franklin Parrish of Strasburg and Robert Overton Parrish of Kents Store; one sister, Mary Ella Hughes Perkins of Greensboro, N.C.; two grandsons, Gregory E. Parrish of Apopka, Fla. and Barry N. Parrish of Amarillo, Texas; two granddaughters, Marjorie L. Rummel of Warrenton and Anne-Marie Parrish of Kents Store; six great-grandchildren, Jeremy Parrish and Danny Parrish, both of Apopka, Fla., Joe Rummel and James Rummel, both of Warrenton, Meadow Parrish and Bayley Leyshon, both of Kents Store. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5 at the Beulah Baptist Church, Kents Store, conducted by the Rev. Bobby Greene. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mildred Louise Patterson, age 92, of Blackstone, died Friday, March 1, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard S. Patterson. She is survived by two daughters, Peggy P. Carlo of Blackstone and Anita P. Martin of Powhatan; three sons, Stanley H. Patterson of Powhatan, Robert C. Patterson and Richard G. Patterson, both of Blackstone; a brother, Elbert W. Gunn of Virginia Beach; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, also numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, in the Patterson Family Cemetery, Nottoway County, with the Rev. Tim Beck officiating. The family will see friends Sunday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hamner-McMillian Funeral Home, Blackstone. Harry Franklin Rapp Sr., age 65, formerly of Varina, died Thursday, February 28, 2002. He was the son of Joyce Sims Rapp and the late William J. Rapp Sr. and is also survived by his wife, Pat Rapp; his children, Terry Rapp, Samantha Matthews and H. Frank Rapp Jr.; son-in-law, W. Howard Matthews III; grandsons, Drew Brink, Zachary Matthews and Eli Matthews; brothers, Bill Rapp and Bobby Rapp; nephew, Dennis Rapp. The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday, March 3 from 12 to 2 and 5 to 7 p.m., 7 p.m. memorial service, at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave. Memorials may be made to Northumberland Co. P. Burch Redford, 57, of Richmond, died Thursday, February 28, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Barbara E. Redford; a son, Ellis J. Redford; and his mother-in-law, Mary C. Ellis. Mr. Redford was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a retired School Teacher with the Chesterfield Public Schools with 30 years of service, having coached football, soccer and golf. Katherine S. Trible, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died in Newport News after a brief illness on March 1, 2002. Mrs. Trible was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 25, 1907 and lived a long and wonderful life of 94 years. She graduated from The Friends School and the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. In 1942 she married Paul S. Trible Sr. and they lived happily together for 57 years. Katherine Trible is the beloved mother of Paul S. Trible Jr., mother-in-law of Rosemary D. Trible and grandmother of Mary Katherine Trible and Paul S. Trible III. The Trible family will receive friends at their home, Gascony, in Northumberland County on Sunday, March 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 4, with interment in the church cemetery. Following the service, the family will receive friends at Gascony. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Paul and Katherine Trible Scholarship at Christopher Newport University.
