Died February 7, 1997, William G. "Bill" and "Junior" Madison Jr., 72, of Doswell, husband of the late Joyce Beasley Madison. He is survived by his devoted children and devoted sons-in-law, Edwina and Berkley Hale, Ashland, Susan and Gregory Derricott, Doswell, William (Garry) Madison III and Rhonda and Michael Mills, all of Ashland, Nina and Gerold Godsey and Jacque and Thomas Bowmaster, all of Richmond; 13 grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren, six sisters and brothers, Agnes Smith, Hilda Madison, Dorothy Kelly, Edward, John and David Madison, all of Richmond; and a devoted family friend, Jesse Warren. The family will receive friends Saturday 6 to 9 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the Reid Funeral Home, 412 S. McCLISH
Donald Joe McClish, 59 of Richmond, died Friday, February 7, 1997. A loving husband and dear father, he is survived by his wife, Sylvia Gallay McClish; three sons, Matthew Joseph, Patrick Michael, and Christopher Allen McClish; a sister and brother-in-law, Susie and Bob Flynn of St. Joseph, Mich. Donald graduated from Michigan State University and the Darden School of Business at UVA. He also served as a Captain in the U.S. Army and was a retired Senior Vice President of the Carpenter Co. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd. where the family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Mon day and where a Christian Wake will be held 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Epiphany 11 a.m. Tuesday. Barbara Ann Murray, 64, of Mechanicsville, died Thursday, February 6, 1997. She was the widow of William L. Murray, and is survived by her daughters, Robin M. Stainback, Rebecca M. Stewart, and Carol M. Mar shall; grandchildren, Jan-Michael Stainback, Shannon C. Stewart and Stephen W. Stewart. Mary Louise Poole, widow of Clyde L. Poole Sr. of Richmond, died February 6, 1997. She is survived by her son, Barry N. Poole and wife, Mary J.; daughter, Sheila P. Turner and husband, Mike; stepson, Clyde L. Poole Jr.; stepdaughter, Margaret P. McBee; sister, Ruth Litten; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Brandon Poole. Willis Ernest Preddy, 89 of Richmond, died Saturday, February 8, 1997. He is survived by a son, Willis A. Preddy; two stepsons, Emmett H. and William W. Bailey; a grandson, Willis A. Bradford Ross Sr. died on Wednesday, February 5, 1997 in Richmond, Va. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Hardy Ross; father of William Bradford Ross Jr., John Ross, and Robert Tayloe Ross and the late David Tayloe Ross; grandfather of seven grandchildren. SCHROETTER
Hilda Noel Schroetter, 79, of the 2800 block of Monument Ave. a retired Virginia Commonwealth University Professor, died February 5, 1997 at her residence. Mrs. Schroetter was a native of Lynch burg, Va. She was the widow of Samuel Theodore Schroetter. She was an official editor for the University of Virginia in the 50's and was later the Book Review editor for the Richmond Times Dispatch. She was employed by K. S. Giniger Publishing Co. in New York as an author and editor, and amongst her many accomplishments edited Fox's Book of Martyrs and Let the Credit Go, by J. Rives Childs. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Richmond, Va. Mrs. Schroetter was active in the Richmond Democratic Party and was a member of The Woman's Club of Richmond, Virginia Writers Club, Poetry Society of Virginia and a Docent of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. She was a graduate and a member of the Alumnae of Randolph Macon Womens College and received her Masters in Art from the University of Virginia. Survivors include her cousins, Faye Joy and her husband, the Rev. Charles Joy of Norfolk, B. Noel Fallwell of Virginia Beach, Renere Johnson and her husband, Grayson of Rockville, Va. and two special friends, Larry and Gloria Taylor of Richmond. A Memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 1997 at Temple Beth Ahabah, Richmond, Va. by Rev. Robert G. Trache. Burial will be in the family plot in Bristol, Va. at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the St. James Episcopal Church Memorial Fund. H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, will be handling the arrangements.

Mr. Charles Clayton Taylor, age 67 of Cartersville, Va., departed this life on Thursday, February 6, 1997, in Richmond, Va. He is survived by six children, Eugene, Charlene, and Marlowe Taylor, Darlowe Simpson, Gerard Gilliam, and Charnaka Mitchell; eight grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; one sister, Betty Miller; one brother, James Taylor; one aunt, Florence Hatcher; two uncles, Drexel Taylor, and Charles Bolling; one son-in-law, Ronald Simpson; one sister-in-law, Roberta Taylor; one brother-in-law, Wallace Miller; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Gladys Stainback Walker, 63 of Emporia, passed on Friday, February 7, 1997. A native of Sussex County, Mrs. Walker was a loving, caring mother and friend to everyone she met. Vernon W. Barnett, age 43, of Mechanicsville, passed away on Friday, November 27, 1998. He was the son of the late Howard Barnett. He is survived by one son and three daughters, Vernon Wayne Barnett II, Krystal Barnett, both of King William, Kristina Barnett of Summerduck, Va., and Melissa Barnett of Hillsbourgh, N.C.; his mother, Jane Barnett of Mechanicsville; two grandchildren, Destiny and Dylan; two brothers, Darryl Barnett of Richmond, and Victor Barnett of Luray; two sisters, Anita Wood and Pamela Barnett of Luray; a special uncle, Earl Barnett. Mr. Barnett was an employee of Slurry Pavers for the past eight years. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 1, at 2 p.m. at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Ethel Virginia Bradley, 96, of Richmond, died November 27, 1998. She was a retired machine operator with Whitlocks. Miss Bradley is survived by a sister, May B.
