ROBERT E. BARRETT JR.
Robert "Rocky" Eugene Barrett, Jr., 50, of Martinsville, died Sunday, June 13, 2010, at home.
Born in Martinsville on February 29, 1960, he was a son of Mavis Tilley Barrett of Martinsville and the late Robert Eugene Barrett Sr. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Potter, and a nephew, Raymond Cecil Collins Jr.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are two sons, Robert Cochram of Florida and Josh Thomas Barrett of Roanoke; one brother, Ronald L. Barrett of Union Hall; three sisters, Anita Barrett-Lester of Patrick Springs, Sharon Barrett Vernon of Richmond and Regina W. Collins of Martinsville; and one grandson.
Visitation will be tonight (Wednesday) from 6 to 7 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Charles Waller officiating.
JOSEPH L. COCKRAM JR.
Joseph Luther Cockram Jr., 56, of Meadows of Dan, died June 7, 2010.
He was born October 19, 1953. Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph Luther Cockram Sr. and Gracie Irene Cockram, and a sister, Vivian K. Bowman.
Surviving are two sons, John Lucas Cockram and Jeremiah Cockram, both of Meadows of Dan; sisters, Carlene Shelor, Betty Lewis and Sandra Haden; brothers, Gene Keith, Bill Keith, Garland Keith and Danny Cockram; and a very special friend, Kathy Hudson of Stuart.
Services will be private and will be held at a later date.
JUDY M. DURHAM
Judy Mays Durham, 65, of Collinsville, died Monday, June 7, 2010, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
She was born in Martinsville on November 3, 1944 and was a daughter of James Cletus Turner of Patrick County and the late Dovie Harbour Turner. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Franklin Cicero Mays; a son, Jeffrey Lee Mays; and two brothers, Sammy and Sonny Turner.
She was a member of the Russell Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to her father, are her husband, Ronald Durham of the home; two sons, Anthony Dale Mays of Florida and Mark Wayne Mays of Bassett; two sisters, Marie Foley of Bassett and Mary Fulcher of Patrick County; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Lowell Hopkins, Christopher Wells, Homer Collins, Dean Spencer, Brian Byrd, Ray Workman, Patrick
Wells and Doug Turner.
Funeral services were conducted Friday at Bassett Funeral Service chapel by the Elder Tommy Pegram. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
GERALD C. HARBOUR
Gerald Camden Harbour, age 74, of Stuart and formerly of Woolwine, died Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart.
He was born in Patrick County on April 27, 1936 and was a son of the late John Estel and Nova Pendleton Harbour. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith, and had retired from Liberty Fabrics.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Wood Harbour of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Lisa Harbour of Martinsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Tony
Brown of Lawsonville, N.C.; six grandchildren, Anthony Brown, Justin Harbour, Jordan Harbour, Joshua Harbour, Christina Pendleton and Madison Harbour; one stepgrandson, Corey Thompson; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Regina Pendleton of Stuart and Janice and John Rorrer of Stuart; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Joan Harbour of Stuart and Lloyd and Mary Harbour of Stuart.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elders David Kamoda and Donnie Conner officiating. Burial was in the Plasters family cemetery.
Pallbearers were Anthony Brown, Justin Harbour, Jordan Harbour, Corey Thompson, Gregg Rorrer, Lynn Pendleton and Joshua Harbour.

BERNIE D. HICKS
Bernie Donell (Donnie) Hicks, 64, of Hillsville, died Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Blue Ridge Nursing Home in Stuart.
He was born December 1, 1945, in Carroll County and was a son of the late Bernie and Dorothy Vaughn Hicks.
He was last employed as a salesman for Hicks Ford Motor Company.
Surviving are one sister, Pamela Reece of Cary, N.C., one niece, one nephew and several cousins.
Graveside services were conducted Saturday at Oak Ridge Baptist Church cemetery with services by the Rev. David Sechrist.
Arrangements were by Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, N.C.
CONNIE B. HILL
Connie Barden Hill, 58, of Madison, N.C., died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born December 11, 1951 in Newport News and was a daughter of the late Forrest Barden and Ruth Pilson. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Alfred Pilson.
Surviving are one daughter, Natasha Dodson, and one son, Otis Hill Jr., both of Madison; her stepmother, Shirley Barden of Richmond; three sisters, Bonnie Newman of Bassett, Regina Crawford of Fieldale and Michelle Gonyo of Japan; two brothers, Ronnie Mullins of Henry and Barry Pilson of Woolwine; and three grandchildren. A memorial service was held Friday in Madison.
BRIANNA G. KANNORDE
Brianna Kannorde, 26, of Winston-Salem, N.C,. died Wednesday, June 8, 2010, at Mt. Sinai Hospital Medical Center in Chicago, Ill., from complications due to cancer.
She was born on March 4, 1984, in Winston-Salem and was the daughter of the late Brandon G. Kannorde and Robin Kannorde. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by an uncle Robert Kannorde Jr.; her paternal grandmother, Catherine Kannorde; and her maternal grandfather, Andrew Lipston.
She resided most of her life in Florida, until recently living in Patrick County. She was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are her mother, Robin Kannorde; her sister, Melissa Kannorde; her brother, Justin Kannorde; her son, Timothy; her grandfather, Robert Kannorde Sr.; her grandmother. Lois Lipston of Florida; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins residing in Patrick County.
A memorial service was held in Winston-Salem at North Forsyth High School on June 10.
MELISSA C. LAWSON
Melissa Ann "Missy" Collins Lawson, age 39, of Stuart, died Monday, June 14, 2010, as the result of an automobile accident.
She was born in Patrick County on October 8, 1970, and was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy "Jim" Collins; a nephew, Russell Collins; grandparents, William Hassell and Iva Collins, Henry Russell Fulcher and Julia Sink; and her father and mother-in-law, Mike and Karen Lawson.
She had been a certified nursing assistant at the Landmark Center with 10 years of service.
Surviving are her husband, Kevin Michael Lawson of the home; one son, Bradley Keith Puckett and a very special future daughter-in-law, Katona Puckett of Stuart, her parents, William and Gladys Collins of Patrick Springs; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Debra C. Dillon and David Walker Jr. and Terri and David A. Leviner, all of Stuart, and Jennifer and Brian Hazelwood of Patrick Springs; a sister-in-law, Barbara Collins of Woolwine; several nieces and nephews, Dustin Dalton, Tommy Dalton, Whitney Dillon, Jessica Knowles, and Travis Hazelwood; one great-niece, Caroline Dalton, and a great-niece arriving soon, Savanna Knowles
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor David Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends tonight (Wednesday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home of her parents, William and Gladys Collins on Old Mill Road in Patrick Springs.

RUTH S. NEWMAN
Ruth Shelton Newman, 95, of Patrick Springs, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at her daughter's home.
She was born January 17, 1915 in Franklin County and was a daughter of the late Dan Shelton and the late Virginia Elizabeth Helms Shelton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Frank Newman; a son, Emmett Stanley Newman; a sister, Gertrude "Nannie" Hollandsworth; and a brother, Chester Shelton.
She was a member of the Abundant Grace Church in Collinsville, retired from Bassett-Walker and played the fiddle with Charlie Poole and Posey Rorrer.
Surviving are three sons, Clarence Douglas "Pete" Newman, Daniel Wayne Newman, and Rev. Frank Newman Jr., all of Bassett; two daughters, Virginia Louise Shively and Betty Jean Scott, both of Bassett; one brother, Harold Elmer Shelton of Collinsville; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one stepgrandchild.
Funeral services were held Thursday in the Bassett Funeral Service chapel with Pastor Curtis Ashley, Chaplain Jim Churchwell and Pastor Tommy Rutherford officiating. Burial was in the Foley family cemetery. Pallbearers were Dale Scott, Gary Newman, Mike Newman, Chad Newman, Jerry Cochran, Greg Branscome, Bennie Dillon, Mardy Lugar, Mary Ann Hall, Cody Bousman, April Jennings, Morgan Branscome and Chris Knight.
PATSY K. QUESINBERRY
Patsy Marie Kendrick Quesinberry, 75, of Martinsville, died Thursday, June 10, 2010, at her daughters home in Spencer.
She was born on January 18, 1935 in Martinsville to the late Myrtle Ward Kendrick and Stuart McGuire Kendrick. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and J.W. Kendrick.
Surviving are three daughters; Jennifer Quesinberry Baucom and husband Mike of Fuquay-Varina, N.C; Sharon Quesinberry and husband Tim; and Patricia Quesinberry of Spencer; one son, William Quesinberry and wife Yvonne of Lafayette, N.Y.; two sisters, Becky Kendrick Wade of Axton and JoAnn Kendrick Myrick of Greensboro, N.C.; and one brother, Steven Kendrick of Spencer.
She was a 1952 graduate of Spencer-Penn High School and was a Spencer-Penn Center board member. She was also a member of Stella Christian Church.
Until her recent illness she owned and operated Runway Café at Blue Ridge Airport in Spencer since 2004.. Prior to Runway Café she owned and operated Pat's Pizza in Bassett. Before operating businesses in Henry County she operated the Manor House Restaurant at Historical Poplar Grove Plantation at Scott's Hill, N.C.
She worked with the Henry County Sheriff's Dept. to develop and promote the Community Awareness Program. She sponsored numerous meals at Runway Café for underprivileged children and families as well as members of Alcoholics Anonymous and cancer survivors.
Funeral services were held Monday at Norris Funeral Services Chapel in Stuart with the Rev. Dwayne Pruitt officiating. Burial was in the Ward family cemetery in Horsepasture. Pallbearers were Johnny Ward, Jim Wade, Alan Ward, Gene Ward, Harbour Gilley, and Kevin Hendricks.
Memorials may be made to any of the following or a church of the donors choice: People's Church of the Living God in Bassett, Stella Christian Church, Horsepasture Fire Dept. or Rescue Squad, or Mountain Valley Hospice.
CARL W. SCOTT
Reverend Carl William Scott, 94, of Archies Creek Rd., Claudville, died Friday, June 10, 2010, at Northern Hospital of Surry County.
He was born August 15, 1915, in Surry County, N.C., and was a son of the late Charlie and Lucinda Hooker Scott. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Eunice Rogers Scott; a daughter, Brenda Scott Jones; a son, Carl Alvis Scott; sisters, Hazel McMillian, Irene Scott Scearce Tilley, Helen Key and Nellie Marion; and brothers, Eugene Scott, Paul Scott, and J.C. Scott.
He had given his life to the ministry for over 60 years and pastored many churches. In addition to being a minister, he was also a building contractor. He was a longtime member of Mt. View Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Wakley Phillips of Claudville and Conelia and A.G. Puckett of Ararat; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law Mary Jessup, Ava Hutchens, and Alyene and Haywood Young, all of Mount Airy; and brothers and sisters-in-law Rev. Deward and Louise Scott of Mount Airy, and Herbert and Gail Scott of St. Augustine, Fla.
The funeral service was conducted Sunday at Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church by Dr. David Sparks, and the Revs. Tommy
Smith and Rickey Rogers. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were by Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
PEGGY H. AGEE
Peggy Harmon Agee, 68, of Stanley, N.C., died May 22, 2010, of injuries from an automobile accident.
She was born in Patrick Springs and was a daughter of the late John Wilburn Harmon and Annie Walker Harmon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Leo Agee Sr., on September 13, 2009; six brothers, Charles Harmon, Darryl Harmon, Donald Harmon, Roy Harmon, Larry Harmon and John Harmon; and two sisters, Helen Harmon and Evelyn Bishop.
She was a member of Craig Memorial Baptist Church in Stanley, where she was a former Sunday school teacher.
Surviving are two daughters, Leona Hester and Stacie Everlein, both of Stanley; one son, Franklin Leo Agee Jr. of Stanley; three sisters, Betty Gardner of Granite Quarry, N.C., Julie Logan of Faith, N.C., and Mary Spears of Mocksville, N.C.; a brother, Joe Harmon of Cleveland, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted May 25 at Craig Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Gary Rankin. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton, N.C.
