In this afflictive dispensation of Divine Providence, a fond and devoted husband has been bereft of an affectionate and obedient wife, and a numerous circle of relatives and neighbours, of an affiable and intelligent friend and companion.
Mrs. K. was a member of the Methodist E. Church, and attested the genuiness of her possession by a consistent Christian department whilst in health, and in sickness by the most calm and placid resignation even in the 'midst of her severest sufferings.
In a word, she lived like a Christian and she died like a Christian.

In the death of Mr. Manning, our community has lost one of its most valuable members.
In his intercourse with society he was honest and sincere; just and benevolent, and urbane and courteous, and in his family, he was kind and indulgent; rendering his presence desireable, and his company pleasant.
In the year 1805, he embraced religion, and united himself with the Methodist Episcopal Church, in which he held the office of leader for many years, and of which he lived and died a worthy member, but he is gone to a more enduring inheritance, while his children are left to weep; yet they do not weep "without hope".

January 13, 1837 -- In the House of Delegates on Monday last, Mr. Stanard rose and said -- since the adjournment of the House on Saturday, an event had occurred which involved a most serious public and private loss. JUDGE CARR is no more!
And I am not exaggerating when I say, that scarcely any individual could have been taken from us who could be more illy spared.
I think the loss of a citizen so estimable in all relations -- of a magistrate so upright, so able, so impartial, offers an occasion on which the members of this house may suspend their duties, to offer at his grave the testimonial of respect which his virtues and abilities deserve.
To this end, I move the adoption of the following resolution.
"It being announced to the House of Delegates that since its adjournment on Saturday, DABNEY CARR, Esq. one of the Judges of the Supreme Court of Appeals, has departed this life; an event by which the country is deprived of a most estimable citizen, and an able and upright, magistrate; and the House of Delegates profoundly regretting the melancholy event, and being desirous to offer a suitable testimonial of respect to his memory'
Therefore, Resolved, unanimously, that the members of this House will attend the funeral of the late DABNEY CARR, Esq. to take place on this day at one o'clock."
On motion of Mr. Standard, The House then adjourned.
