ROBINSON
Richard Edward Robinson Sr., 95, of North Carolina, died Thursday, August 9, 2001 in a local nursing home. Mr. Robinson was born on August 14, 1905 in Rocky Mount, N.C. He was a businessman working in the furniture industry, was a member of the Khedive Temple, the Masonic Lodge in Ayden, N.C., and was a member of Somerton United Methodist Church, Suffolk, Va. He was the widower of Athelia Sumrell Robinson. He is survived by one daughter, Dixie R. Vick of Manteo, N.C.; four sons, R. Edward Robinson Jr. of Richmond, Va., John S. Robinson of Chesapeake, Va., Paul K. Robinson of Duck, N.C., and Christopher P. Robinson of Norfolk, Va.; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2001 at 11 a.m. in Somerton United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, ACCA Temple, P.O. Brenda Simmons-Beasley of Richmond died July 25, 2001 in Florida. She is survived by two daughters, Sherry Lynn Medina and her husband, Hernan of Richmond and Dawn Seay-Fabres and her husband, Caesar of Arlington, Va.; her devoted friend, Glen Simmons of Florida; her parents, John R. and Nellie L. Beasley of Richmond; four grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Chino and C.J.; a brother, Daniel Beasley and his wife, Naomi of Gretna, Va.; and a step-sister, Diane Carol Oliver. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert James Seay Jr. Services were held in Florida.

Walter S. Steiner Jr., 88, of Richmond, formerly of Allentown, Pa., died Saturday, August 11, 2001 in Johnston-Willis Hospital, Richmond. He was the husband of Helen M. (Klegarth) Steiner. They would have celebrated their 66th anniversary on August 31, 2001. He was a welder for Lehman and Graf (machine shop), Syracuse, for 28 years before retiring in 1978. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Walter S. and Catharine E. (Moyer) Steiner Sr. He was a former guitarist for various local bands in Syracuse. He was also a former Semi-Professional Baseball player in the Allentown area. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Helen F. and husband, William S. Bonner of Richmond; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Stephens Funeral Home, 1335-37 Linden St., Allentown, Pa. Col. Glenn L. Stewart (USAF, retired) died August 9, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Martha; daughters, Susan Doyle and Anne Glick; grandchildren, Charmagne Doyle and Aaron Doyle, all of Richmond; his mother, Edna Stewart of Hamilton, Ohio; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thomas and Elizabeth Rupert of Virginia Beach. Col. Stewart graduated fom Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He served 28 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired from his second career at DIT, Commonwealth of Virginia. A memorial service will be held at Bon Air Christian Church, Buford Rd., at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 15. Inurnment will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, August 23 at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
