JEFFERSON D. BANGLEY
Jefferson D. Bangley, 56, passed away March 24, 2008, at Sentara Obici Hospital after a short illness. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Lucille Bangley.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne F. Bangley, daughter, Sherry B. Huffman and husband Mike; brothers, William Bangley, Jr., and wife, Sarah of Palm City, Fl, Charles Bangley and wife, Carolyn of Greenville, NC; sister, Jane McQueen and husband, Mike of Earleysville, VA; grandchildren, Clint and Claire Huffman and several nieces and nephews.
He was retired from the Suffolk Police Department, after 29 years of service, 26 of them in the Detective Bureau, where he enjoyed the challenge of investigations and helping to bring closure to victims of crimes. He was voted Police Officer of the year in 1983. He was currently working part time for the Suffolk Sheriff Department. He loved his job where he considered all his coworkers his extended family.
He was a charter member of the Suffolk Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #41, where he served in numerous positions, including President. He was a member of Somerton United Methodist Church.
Mr. Bangley was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and gardening. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and boisterous laugh. He will be greatly missed by all, especially Clint and Claire, who were the light of his life.
Memorial services will be conducted by the Rev. Becky Gwaltney at R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with a private graveside service afterward. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Wednesday, March 26, 2008, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

D. LEE JACKSON
Dixon Lee Jackson, 86, died March 27, 2008, at Nansemond Pointe.
Born in North Carolina, he was the son of the late J. Hampton and Carey Grey Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, the VFW of Suffolk and the Man to Man Cancer Group. He had served many years in the construction business as a supervisor and was a Navy veteran of WW II.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Hayes Jackson; daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly J. and Kevin Adams of Chesapeake; Sylvia J. and Errol Stout of Williamsburg, Theresa J. Taylor of Moulton, IA; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Lucy Jackson of Carrollton, Dickie and Sylvi Jackson of Toano; sister, Sadie J. Phillips of Newport News; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 pm at Hillcrest Baptist Church by the Rev. James George with entombment in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. SHIRLEY F. BREDON
Shirley Ferris Bredon, 82, died March 30, 2008 at Nansemond Pointe.
Born in Norfolk VA, she was the daughter of the late Nellie H. and Joseph Ferris. Mrs. Bredon was predeceased by her husband, Charles A. Bredon, her daughter, Kimberly Anne Bredon and her son, Joseph Earl Bredon. She was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elks BPOE 38 in Norfolk, a member of the Rainbow Club at the Church of the Ascension. Shirley was a Registered Nurse for 42 years. She received her Registered Nursing degree from the School of Nursing at DePaul. She loved flowers, plants, and traveling after she retired.
Survivors include her son, Charles A. Bredon, Jr. and wife Marsha of Suffolk; and grandson, Matthew Bredon of Suffolk.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Thursday at 11:00 am with Father Jim Parke at the Church of the Ascension in Virginia Beach with inurnment in the Church’s columbarium. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8:00 pm in the Church’s Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Ascension, 4853 Princess Anne Rd. Virginia Beach, VA 23462. R. EUNICE RUTH DEAN
Eunice Ruth Dean, 71, went to be with her Lord Thursday, April 4, 2008 at her residence.
Born August 3, 1936 and raised in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Dexter Cecil Pickett and Elizabeth Pickett Lambertson. She was a member of Nansemond River Baptist Church, and retired from K-Mart.
Ruth is survived by her loving family, including her three daughters, Gwen Dean Woodard of Suffolk, Darlene Dean of Portsmouth, Wanda Dean Keith and husband Jeff of Portsmouth; son Franklin Dean and wife Cynthia of Poquoson; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother Dexter “DC” Pickett of MI; sister Francis Travis and husband Tom of Portsmouth; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother to many people, and a caring friend to all she knew.
A service will be conducted at 11:00a.m.on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Nansemond River Baptist Church by Dr. Timothy L. Piland. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-3:30p.m. at Baker-

RUBY R. TAYLOE
Ruby Reese Tayloe, 92, died on April 4, 2008 in Suffolk VA. She was born in Lewiston, NC, to the late Eva and Tom Reese. She was predeceased by her husband, Julian
Brown Tayloe; sons, Richard and Frank Tayloe; and four brothers.
She was a member of West End Baptist Church for 54 years and was a former member of the church choir. She retired from Lipton Tea after 30 years of service.
Ruby is survived by her daughter Barbara Mizelle and husband Henry of Suffolk; daughters-in-law, Carolyn Tayloe of Suffolk and Carol Tayloe of Virginia Beach; brothers, Wilson Reese of San Diego, CA and Ramoth Reese of Spruce Pine, NC; six grand children, Tobi Byrd and husband Jimmy, Tim Tayloe, Mark Tayloe and wife Morgan, T.C. Mizelle, Emily Tayloe, and Katie Tayloe; three great grandchildren, Christopher Tayloe, Matthew Tayloe, and Reese Byrd.

THELMA G. BROWN
Thelma Griffin Brown, 88, went to be with the Lord April 9, 2008, in Sentara Norfolk General Heart Hospital.
Born in Isle of Wight County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Delma H. Griffin, widow of Frank L. Brown, Sr. and sister of the late Mills Griffin. Mrs.
Brown was a member of Windsor Baptist Church and the L. T. Hall Bible Class and for twenty seven years worked in the lunch room of Windsor High School.

DEBRA E. STILL
Debra E. Still, 52, of Suffolk died May 24, 2008 at Sentara Obici Hospital.
Born in Weirton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and Vernon Still and was preceded in death by a brother Richard Still.
Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Shriver of Smithfield, OH; son Martin Koerner of Pittsburgh PA; four grandchildren Corey Koerner, Jacob Shriver, Kaleb Shriver, and Abigail Ford.

WILLIAM DAVID FOX
William David Fox, 58, lost his life suddenly in a car accident on Thursday, November 19, 2009.
Born March 30, 1951 in Albany, NY to Roberta
Smith Fox and the late David Fox, he was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan College with a degree in economics. He worked as a purchasing agent with American GFM for over 23 years, and more recently with Electric Motor and Contracting and Wartsila Defense. Bill loved cooking and prepared delicious meals. He also enjoyed kayaking, fishing, fixing his boat, billiards, beach music, and most of all socializing with his many friends.
William is survived by his loving family, including his mother Roberta Fox Robinson of FL; his wife Valerie Reed Fox; two daughters, Heather Jean Fox
Foster of Chesapeake and Allison Alline Fox of NC; stepdaughter Heather Paone of Carrollton; three grandchildren, Jackson and Gracelyn Sandler and Maddox Paone; sister-in-law Marcy Olander and husband Gary of Chesapeake; and many, many friends.
