Margaret G. Britton
PENDLETON -- Margaret Beryl Grant Britton, 75, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
A native of Northampton County, she was a dedicated mother, grandmother and homemaker, and had previously been a member of Rehobeth Methodist Church. She was a current member of Roberts Chapel Baptist Church, where she served in the nursery for many years.
Her survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Hugh Pete Britton Sr. of their home; two sons, Robert Earl Britton of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Hugh Pete Britton Jr. of Pendleton; two daughters, Hattie B. Crisp of Pendleton and Vickie B. Parker of Murfreesboro; nine grandchildren, Mike Britton and Tracey Britton of California, Margaret Ann Blythe of Rich Square, Joseph Crisp of Margarettsville, Richard Crisp of Pendleton, William Robert Parker of Conway, David Earl Parker of Murfreesboro, Marie B. Lonesky of Roanoke Rapids, and April Elaine Britton of Pendleton; two stepgrandchildren, Andy DeLeon and Shelley
Smith of California; four great-grandchildren, William Robert Parker Jr. and Alexandria Marie Parker of Murfreesboro, Joseph Hugh Crisp Jr. of Margarettsville, and Ashley B.
Smith of California; a brother, W.E. ``Jack" Grant of Roanoke Rapids; and Tincy.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roberts Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Philip Thompson. Burial will follow in the Roberts Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bridgers Funeral Home, Conway, and at other times in the family home at Route 1, Box 204, Pendleton. The family has requested that any memorial gifts be made to Roberts Chapel Baptist Church.

POPLAR BRANCH -- Hattie Baum
Carter of Poplar Branch and a former resident of Norfolk and Virginia Beach passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at Fort Smith, Ark.
She was a retired secretary of the Virginia Beach School Board. Survivors include her son, David
Carter of Fort Smith; her daughter, Gwen Stewart of Norfolk; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Colonial Avenue United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be given to the Colonial Avenue United Methodist Church.

EDENTON -- Lura Pellegrin Glines of Dogwood Drive passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, in Chowan Hospital at the age of 80.
She is survived by a son, Harold Robert ``Bobby" Glines, and his wife, Bonnie; two daughters, Wanda Stryker and her husband, Shelton, and Phyllis Bernard and her husband, Frank; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine and Willis Pellegrin, and her sister, Eta Lapeyrouse.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anne's Catholic Church. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Norfolk. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Evans Funeral Home of Edenton. Memorials may be made to the St. Anne's Woman Club.

SOUTH BOSTON -- Dora Wilkerson Doss, 91, of the 200 block of Yates St. and formerly of Virginia Beach, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at the Woodview.
She was born in Halifax County, Va., on Dec. 29, 1907. She was the daughter of the late Baylos Edward and Mattie
Green Elliott Wilkerson. She was a member of Dan River Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Elsie Mae D. Worsham and her husband, Milton, of South Boston, Virginia Lee D. Murden of Virginia Beach, Trudy D. Marsh and her husband, Roy, of Hobbs, N.M., and Shirley D. Lambka and her husband, Harvey, of Jacksonville, N.C.; two sons, Roy Doss Jr. and his wife, Wanda, of Virginia Beach and Lonnie Franklin Doss of Kinston, N.C.; a sister, Alease Matherly of South Boston; two brothers, William Wilkerson and Dick Wilkerson, both of Danville; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Lorena Piper of Virginia Beach. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Richard Doss, her daughter, Louise Doss, and her son, Lawrence E. Doss.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in
Powell Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jack Stewart and the Rev. Paul King. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of Elsie Worsham, 204 Yates St., South Boston.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Lillian .Clarice Kane, 70, died Sept. 19, 1999, in her residence.
She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Simmons. Survivors include her husband, Hubert Frances Kane of Huntsville; three daughters, Carolyn Lester, Phyllis Robinson and Glenda Brummer, all of Huntsville; four sons, Michael Simmons of Virginia, Ricky Simmons of Nauvoo, Ala., and Paul Kane and Jody Kane, both of Virginia; a sister, Barbara Boyd of Huntsville; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Laughlin Service Funeral Home.

Jones Rautenkranz, 56, of the 800 block of Bainbridge Ave., died Aug. 31, 1999. A private service will be at a later date. Cremation Society of Virginia is in charge.
Grace D. Cahill
NORFOLK -- Grace Dalton Cahill, 78, of the 1000 Block of Hanover Ave., died Aug. 30, 1999.
A member of an old Norfolk family, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Dalton Jr. and granddaughter of the late Honorable Andrew J. Dalton, a former Virginia state senator. She was the widow of John Donoghue Cahill of Massachusetts.
During World War II, she worked with Naval Intelligence and was a Red Cross Gray Lady. Mrs. Cahill was a past president and charter member of the Redwood Garden Club. She served on the board of the St. Mary's Infant Home and the founders committee of Blessed Sacrament Catholic School.
She was an honorary lifetime member of the Chrysler Museum. She also was a member of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the Hermitage Foundation, the Victorian Society and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk.
Survivors include two daughters, Anne Taylor Cahill of Norfolk, Kirby Cahill Womble and her husband, E. Wayne Womble, of Richmond; three sons, A.J. Dalton Cahill, John James Cahill II, Allan D.D. Cahill and his wife, Cherie, all of Norfolk; two brothers, A.J. Dalton III, Allan Taylor Dalton and his wife, Jacqueline, all of Virginia Beach; and two granddaughters, Lara B. Cahill of Norfolk and Lesley Cahill Lovett of Richmond.
Funeral services will be private. The family will receive friends at her residence, 1056 Hanover Ave., Norfolk, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. As was her husband, Mrs. Cahill will be buried at sea from the Theodore Roosevelt. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice or to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 520 Graydon Ave., Norfolk, VA 23507. H.D.
