NORFOLK -- Lucille P. Bowers of the 1700 block of Blair Ave. died Sept. 13, 1999.
She was born in Southampton, Va., to the late Tom and Cora Parker, and was the widow of Fleetwood Bowers. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point.
Survivors include two daughters, Cora Todd and her husband, John Todd, Liza
Smith and her husband, Roosevelt Smith; a son, Edward Parker; a grandchild, John Todd Jr. and his wife, Anita Todd; a great-grandchild, Victoria Todd; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday at First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point, by the Rev. Anthony Paige. Burial will be in Ivor Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence. Viewing will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at Riddick Funeral Service. A wake will be held at the church from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Katherine M. Campbell
NORFOLK -- Katherine M. .Campbell, 76, passed away Sept. 13, 1999, in a local hospital.
Born in Brookline, Mass., on Sept. 27, 1922, she moved to the area in 1962. Ms. Campbell was a member of the Church of Ascension in Virginia Beach. She was predeceased by her son, Raymond Michael Campbell, and two brothers, Daniel McParland and James McParland.
Ms. Campbell is survived by two children, Joanne C. Blessing and her husband, John, and Francis X. Campbell and his wife, Chanda, all of Norfolk; a sister, Anne M. Weiner of Framingham, Mass.; a brother, E. Geoffrey McParland of Rockland, Mass.; three grandchildren, Craig, Lauren and Kyanne; and three nephews.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Ascension, Virginia Beach, by Fr. James Parke. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach.

NORFOLK -- Mary Dallas .Gammon, 78, of the 1700 block of Hancock Ave., passed away Sept. 13, 1999, at her residence.
A registered nurse, she was born in Pittsylvania County, Va., and had retired as a nursing supervisor from the Lafayette Villa Nursing Home. She was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church and the Christian Adult Class, and a member and Starpoint, Westminster Chapter No. 99, Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, James ``Jim" Gammon; two daughters and their husbands, Diane G. and Guy Willis of Norfolk, Kaye G. and Lee Gibboney of Chesapeake; a son and his wife, Gordon R. and Donna Gammon of Virginia Beach; four sisters, Mabel

NORFOLK -- Gregory Paul Gibson, 43, of the 8000 block of Wedgewood Road, died Sept. 14, 1999.
Born in Thomasville, N.C., he was self-employed and a member of Norview Masonic Lodge No. 113. He was predeceased by his father, Paul L. Gibson.
Survivors include his mother, Lucille C. Gibson; his sister, Carol Gibson, both of Norfolk; three brothers, Steven L. Gibson and his wife, Lindsay C. Gibson, of Chesapeake, Joe M. NORFOLK -- Emanuel Hamilton Sr. of the 8100 block of Wisteria Place died Sept. 9, 1999, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
``Hamp" was born in Newport News and was a government employee, retired from civil service.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Cassandra Hamilton of the home; two daughters, Betty Hamilton Reddick of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Narlee Coleman of Virginia Beach; a son, William Lee Parker Jr. of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends John and Ethel Smiley of Norfolk.

NORFOLK -- Robert Versie Logan of the 7000 block of Auburn Ave. died peacefully Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at DePaul Medical Center.
A native of Rutherford County, N.C., he was the son of the late Fate and Ola Toms Logan and the husband of Thelma F. Logan. Mr. Logan had retired from Sheller-Globe Corp. after 35 years of service. He was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Thelma F. Logan of the home; two daughters, Bernice L. Evans and Drusilla Marks Peterson; a son, Charles C. Logan; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ruth Smith; a brother-in-law, Edward Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Born in Surry, she was a retired admitting clerk for Norfolk General Hospital Emergency Room for 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk.
The widow of Pete Philbrick, she is survived by three sons, Jerry Philbrick of Norfolk, Pete Philbrick Jr. of Cave City, Ariz., and the Rev. Ron Philbrick of Chesapeake; a sister, Anne Cobb of Rocky Mount, N.C.; six grandchildren, Deirdre, Stacey, Chuck, Andy, Rob and Christy; and four great-grandchildren.

NORFOLK -- Henry Rhodes Jr. of the 700 block of Maryland Ave. died Sept. 11, 1999, at McGuire Hospital, Richmond.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he had retired in 1988 as a postal worker after 23 years of service. He was predeceased by his wife, Corrine Rhodes.
Survivors include a daughter, Ramona Nichols of Virginia Beach; two sons, Curtis
Williams and Wardell Williams, both of Norfolk; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends, including his best friend, Horace L. Childs of Norfolk.

NORFOLK -- Gertrude E. Walker, 82, of the 7500 block of Sewells Point Road, died Sept. 10, 1999.
Born in Princess Anne County, Va., she was a member and missionary of New St. John AME Church, Virginia Beach, where she was a member of the Senior Choir and Mass Choir. Mrs. Walker was also a member of Order of Eastern Star of Virginia, St. Alethea Chapter No. 83. She was retired.
Survivors include her husband, James J. Walker; a daughter and son-in-law, Rosetta Lamb and Frederick Lamb Sr., all of Norfolk; a sister, Mary E. Born in Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late Ludy and Annie Mae West Lewis, and the widow of James E. Spivey. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Norfolk.

Born in Goldsboro, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Troy and Doll Rivenbark Bryan. She was a retired doctor's office assistant and had been a BINGO Bus coordinator for the past 15 years. An avid reader, Mrs. Walters was a member of Goldsboro Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, William ``Bill" Walters; two sisters, Mildred Radford of Goldsboro, N.C., and Betty Bryan of Wilmington, N.C.; one brother, Leon Bryan of Rockville, Md.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

PORTSMOUTH -- Our devoted Dad, Hugh Enoch Collier, died Sept. 14, 1999, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his children, Fredrick Hugh Collier and wife, Karen, Kay Collier Dobson and husband, Stan, Ronald Keith Collier and wife, Shelia, Kenneth Alan Collier and wife, Jessie; his former wife and the mother of his children, Patricia Collier Mottley; nine grandchildren; four brothers; and four sisters, all of whom he loved very much.
