Margaret E. Huff
BLUFF CITY -- Margaret E. Huff, 48, of 328 Beaver Road, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Bristol, a daughter of C.H. "Chet" and Helen Bartley Evans, and was a graduate of Bristol Tennessee High School.
She was a member of Edgemont Presbyterian Church of Bristol and attended Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elizabethton. She was an organizer of and a volunteer with Abortion Alternative and the Crisis Pregnancy Center of Bristol. She was employed with the Financial Aid Department of King College and was a former assistant director of Community Bible Study.
Surviving, besides her parents, are her husband, James W. Huff Jr.; a daughter, Mrs. William "Tate" (Amy Crystal) Kile III of Bluff City; a son, J. Brad Huff of Bluff City; two sisters, Mrs. Earl (Helen) Hicks of Bristol Tennessee and Mrs. Johnny (Dottie) Haun of Erwin, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 8 p.m. in the Chapel at King College. The Revs. Andrew White and Steve Meyerhoff and Dr. Greg Jordan will officiate. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories at Glenwood Cemetery. The Revs. Andrew White and Larry Stallard will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Monday in King's Chapel.

Thelma Pauline Leonard
Thelma Pauline Leonard, 70, of 417 Meadowcrest Drive, Bristol, Va., died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She had lived most of her life in the Bristol area and was a former employee of Sperry and Electro-Mechanical. She was a member of Beaverview Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, James Leonard; two sons, Butch McCall of Bristol Tennessee and Mike McCall of Bristol Virginia; a daughter, Tracye Jenkins of Bristol Virginia; three brothers, Wayne Houser of Blountville, and Fred Houser and Bob Houser, both of Bristol Virginia; two sisters, Bertie Sword and Pat Nash, both of Bristol Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at noon in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Roy Yelton will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mrs. Leonard was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Leonard.
Among survivors are grandchildren, Matt McCall, Jeff McCall, Tara McCall, Josh McCall, Drew McCall, Luke McCall, Brandon Gibson and Corey Gibson.
Pallbearers will be Matt McCall, Jeff McCall, Josh McCall, Drew McCall, Luke McCall and Bobby Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Gibson and Corey Gibson.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday in Weaver Funeral Home.
Ola Gay Lester
ROWE, Va. -- Funeral services for Ola Gay Lester will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Buchanan Funeral Service Chapel in Keen Mountain, Va. The Rev. Ancil Childress will officiate. Burial will be in Ratliff Family Cemetery on the Youngs Branch section of Buchanan County.
Mrs. Lester, 69, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, in an Abingdon hospital.
She was born in Buchanan County, a daughter of the late Harve and Stella Cook Ratliff, and was a member of Rowe Pentecostal Church.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Rollins "Bud" Lester; three daughters, Darlene Jackson and Jeanie Lester, both of Rowe, and Penny Osborne of Keen Mountain; two sons, Randy Lester and Michael Lester, both of Rowe; five sisters, Gladys Hess of Oakwood, Va., Shirley Sykes of Clearwater, Fla., Geneva Constanine of Clearwater, Fla., Genette Addison of Oakwood, Va., and Katie Anderson of Vansant, Va.; two brothers, Earl Ratliff of Mavisdale, Va., and Claude Ratliff of Oakwood; and five grandchildren.
Mrs. Lester was also preceded in death by a sister, Faye Crow; and a brother, H.C. Ratliff.
Among survivors are grandchildren, Sherry Jackson, Christy L. Rhea, Mark Jackson, Jonathan Lester and Nicholas Osborne.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday in Buchanan Funeral Service.
Clara G. McConnell
SNOWFLAKE, Va. -- Funeral services for Clara Dell Gillenwater McConnell will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Gate City Funeral Home. The Rev. Joe Barber will officiate. Burial will be in Holston View Cemetery in Weber City.
Mrs. McConnell, 93, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000.
Pallbearers will be Todd Pendleton, Bill Pendleton, William Johnson, Jack Gillenwater, Herman Mcconnell and Ronnie McConnell.

Edd McNew Jr.
KINGSPORT -- Edd McNew Jr., 40, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Sullivan County, a son of Roy and Ann McNew Sr. of Blountville, and was of the Baptist faith.
He was a member of Bays Mountain Longbeards, National Wild Turkey Federation, National Rifle Association, North American Hunting Club and the Tri-Cities Varmint Hunters. He was an explosives employee in road construction.
Surviving, besides his parents, are his wife, Rita McNew; a son, Jamie Colbaugh of the home; two sisters, Sheila McNew and Mona McMurray, both of Louisville, Ky.; a nephew; and two nieces.
A memorial service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Charity Baptist Church in Blountville by Snyder's Funeral Home in Gray, Tenn. Pastors Esta Gilley, Grady Maness and Perry Cleek will officiate.
Mr. McNew was also preceded in death by a sister, Melissa McNew; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Among survivors are nephew, Jason Kersey of Kingsport; and nieces, Christina Robbins of Raleigh, N.C., and Latasha McMurray of Louisville, Ky.

RICHLANDS -- Funeral services for Lula Mae Mercer will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff. The Rev. Catherine Carpenter will officiate. Burial will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery at Claypool Hill.
Mrs. Mercer, 86, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at her home.

Mrs. Miller, 73, of 2501 Osborne St., Bristol, Va., died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House.
She was born in Spotsylvania, Va., a daughter of the late William and Mary Seay. She had lived in the Bristol area since 1973.
She was a homemaker and a partner in business with her husband for many years as owners//operators of several motels. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Spotsylvania.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth "Ed" Miller; and a son, Larry Miller of Bristol Virginia.
Among survivors are daughter-in-law, Karen Cook Miller of Bristol Virginia; sister-in-law, Jo Helbert of Bristol Tennessee; a special aunt, Christeen Hopkins; and several cousins.
Pallbearers will be nephews of Mr. Miller.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday prior to the service in the funeral home or any time at the residence.

Lauren W. Moore
ATLANTA -- Lauren W. Moore, 90, formerly of Bristol Tennessee, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Crewe, Va.
Surviving are two sons, Alton L. Moore of Atlanta and Lauren Moore Jr. of Las Vegas; a daughter, Susan M. Fitzgerald of Schenectady, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday in Atlanta.

Douglas Reed
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Douglas Reed, 42, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Toledo, Ohio, a son of John H. and Diane E. Reed of Fort Wayne, Ind., and was a member of the Presbyterian church.
He graduated from Central Michigan University in 1979 and began work for Dana Corp. in Richmond, Ind., as production supervisor. He was a manager of Dana facilities in Richmond, Ind., Plymouth, Minn., Bristol Virginia, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Toledo; and Glasgow, Ky.
Surviving, besides his parents, are his wife, Barbara Cain Reed; three sons, Andy Reed, Matthew Reed and Ryan Adams, all of Bowling Green, Ky., two brothers, Greg Reed of Hiliard, Ohio and Tim Reed of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday in Bowling Green.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Southern Kentucky or the Presbyterian church in Bowling Green.
