Vivian P. Boyd
HONAKER -- Vivian Pauline Boyd, 69, of the Gardner Community, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, in Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands.
She was born in Russell County, Va., a daughter of the late Nora Ellen Vencill, and lived in Russell County most of her life. She was a homemaker and the widow of Clyde James Boyd.
Surviving are two daughters, Paulette Boyd of the home and Teresa Osborne of Drill, Va.; two sons, Danny Boyd and James A. Boyd, both of Honaker; two sisters, Helen Ward of Georgia and Aleta Mercer of Belfast, Va.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conduced Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Honaker Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Joe Copolo and Michael Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon.
Mrs. Boyd was also preceded in death by a son, Phillip Boyd; and a grandson, James Frederick Boyd.
Pallbearers will be Victor Ward, Robbie Sullivan, Junior Tillison, Randall Holt, Nelson Plaster, Kenny Barnhart, Keith Osborne and Justin Baldwin.

Vada P. Eggers
DAMASCUS -- Vada P. Eggers, 85, of 22192 Lincoln Circle, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
She was born in Rock Creek, N.C., a daughter of the late James and Janie Roark Potter, and lived in Damascus most of her life.
She was the widow of the Rev. I. Blaine Eggers and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Glade Spring, Va.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Lavone) Widener and Mrs. Bert (Brenda) Snodgrass, both of Damascus; two sisters, Ella Price of West Jefferson, N.C., and Mary Buchanan of Mountain City, Tenn.; three grandsons; a great-grandson; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Pleasant View Baptist Church by
Johnson Funeral Home. Herman Widener and the Revs. Carl Wilson, Tim Stevens and Roger Boyer will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus.
Mrs. Eggers was also preceded in death by three brothers.
Among survivors are sons-in-law, Dennis Widener and Bert Snodgrass; grandsons, Scottie Widener, Travis Dyson and Brent Dyson; great-grandson, Tyler Widener; great-granddaughter, Kaylee Widener; and granddaughter-in-law, Robin Widener.
Pallbearers will be Wade Blevins, Ronnie Blevins, Joe Blevins, Ray Potter, Herman Widener and Robert Cornett.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday in
Johnson Funeral Home.
Glen A. Gilbert
DORAN, Va. -- Glen A. Gilbert, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, in a Richlands hospital.
He was born in Dickenson County, Va., a son of the late Dolphus and Fannie Mullins Gilbert, was a retired maintenance supervisor for F.H. Hill Casket Co. and a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Richlands.
He was the widower of Mamie Gertrude Fields Gilbert.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Sue) Jenkins of Centreville, Va.; a grandson, Tom Jenkins of Durham, N.C.; and a granddaughter, Anne Jenkins of Blacksburg, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff. The Rev. Stafford Compton will officiate. Burial will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Va.
Mr. Gilbert was also preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Gilbert; and a sister, Ina Tuggle.
Among survivors are several cousins.
Pallbearers will be Craig Tuggle, Jim Boyd, Charles Fortner, Brad Robinson, Jim Cassell and Gene Cox.

Mary Cornelia Gragg
BLUFF CITY -- Mary Cornelia Gragg, 78, of 294 Buffalo Road, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, in Bristol Nursing Home.
She was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and a daughter of the late Ross and Virgie Hopkins. She was a housewife and a member of Ryder Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Jewell Roark of Bristol Virginia and Pat Wilson and Janice Pickle, both of Bluff City; two sons, Hobert Gragg and Pete Gragg, both of Bluff City; a sister, Madge
Jones of Bristol Tennessee; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Shipley Cemetery by Weaver Funeral Home of Bristol, Tenn. The Revs. Howard Campbell and Martin Freeland will officiate.
Ms. Gragg was also preceded in death by a son, Ross A. Gragg.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home or friends may call any time at the homes of the children.

Gary Lynn Hatcher
Gary Lynn Hatcher, 53, of 1019 Pennsylvania Ave., Bristol, Tenn., died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and a son of the late Glen and Bernice Hatcher.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietname War, a former employee of Sprint and was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 8 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Noah G. Stout will officiate. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Glenwood Cemetery.
Among survivors are several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mary E. Jackson
Mary Evelyn Jackson, 69, of 105 Chestnut St., Bristol, Tenn., died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol.
She was a daughter of the late Roy Webster and Mary Eileen Love Stout, and lived most of her life in Bristol. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and the widow of Wiley N. Jackson Sr.
Surviving are four sons, Glen A. Jackson of Los Angeles, Buddy Jackson and Wiley N. Jackson II, both of Bristol Tennessee, and Charles Wayne Jackson of Bluff City; a daughter, Barbara A. Watson of Bristol Tennessee; three sisters, Pauline Scott and Betty Shortt, both of Abingdon, and Camella
Green of Bristol Virginia; a half-brother, Donald Stout of Bristol Tennessee; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Farris Funeral Chapel in Abingdon. The Rev. Dennis Burnette will officiate. Burial will be in Greenfield Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Stipes, Fred Roberts, Richard Russell, Steve Worley, Darrell Smith, Jeff Worley and Jody Jackson.

Mrs. Jones, 83, a native of Bristol Tennessee, died Friday, Jan 21, 2000, in Brandon.

BIG STONE GAP -- Darthula Bailey McGee, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, in Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital.
She was born in the Olinger Community of Lee County, Va., a daughter of the late Henry Carr Bailey and Cordie Stella Reasor Bailey, and lived most of her life in the Appalachia//Big Stone Gap area.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Big Stone Gap, where she was a member of Circle 4 of the United Methodist Women.
She was the widow of Elmer McGee.
Surviving are a brother, Ernest Bailey of Ormond Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Ruby B. Baker, Ada B. Goldston and Edyth B. Lindner, all of Cincinnati; seven nephews; and two nieces.
Funeral services will be conduced Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Holding Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Dennie Humphreys will officiate. Burial will be in
Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. McGee was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Bailey.
