Hazel Jane Pippin, 76, of Bristol Virginia died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, in NHC Healthcare.
She was a lifelong resident of Bristol and a daughter of the late William Thomas and Laura Ollivene Blevins Pippin.
She was a former employee of Bristol Drug Store.
She was a member of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church and attended First Christian Church in Bristol Virginia.
Surviving are a sister, Mildred L. Cross of Bristol Virginia; three brothers, Jimmy Pippin and Franklin Pippin, both of Bristol Virginia, and Norman Pippin of Erwin, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Glenwood Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel by Akard Funeral Home in Bristol, Tenn. The Rev. John A. Thrasher will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday in Akard Funeral Home.
Burl H. Salyers
COEBURN -- Burl Hue Salyers, 66, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in Freemont Memorial Hospital in Freemont, Ohio.
He was born in Coeburn, a son of the late Burl Taft and Lola Adkins Salyers.
He was a member of Moose Club 1833 and a retired employee of Ford Motor Co. with 30 years of service.
Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca Ann Salyers of Dayton, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Wendy Adams of Dayton; a stepson, Michael Scherz; a sister, Unita S. Odle of Coeburn; and a grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Estes Funeral Home.
The Rev. Curtis Bond will officiate. Burial will be in Adkins Cemetery in Coeburn with military graveside rites by Pound VFW Post 9600.
Mr. Salyers was also preceded in death by three brothers, Dennis, Bobby and Bruce Salyers.
The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Monday in Estes Funeral Home.
Berniece Smith
JONESVILLE, Va. -- Berniece Smith, 85, of the Cedar Hill community died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at her home.
She was born in Jonesville, a daughter of the late Charlie and Roxie Kinser Wolfe.
She had lived in Lee County, Va., her entire lifetime.
She was a member of Cedar Hill Christian Church and the widow of Rhea Smith.
Surviving are three sons, Lowell Smith, Dale
Smith and Darrell Smith, all of Jonesville; three daughters, Sue
Smith and Sheila Smith, both of Jonesville, and Pat
Smith of Bristol Tennessee; a sister, Beulah Collins of Rose Hill; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a step-grandchild; and a step-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 8 p.m. in Cedar Hill Christian Church Sanctuary by Province Funeral Home.
The Rev. Jim Myers will officiate.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Hamblin Cemetery at Flatwood.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. to go to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Mrs. Booher, 91, formerly of 101 Sheri Drive, Bristol, Tenn., died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, in NHC Healthcare of Bristol.
She was born in Greeneville, Tenn., lived most of her life in the Bristol area and was a 1928 graduate of Virginia High School.
She was a retired employee of H.P. King Co., a member of High Point Presbyterian Church and the widow of Virl C. Booher.
Surviving are two sons, William A. "Bill" Booher of Bristol Tennessee and Robert C. Booher of Gulf Port, Miss.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Mrs. Booher was also preceded in death by a son, Paul E. Booher.
Among survivors are daughters-in-law, Betty S. Booher, Elsa Booher and Beverly Booher; sister-in-law, Virginia Cartmell; and several cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Wednesday in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel.
Lois Dungan Brickey
BROADFORD, Va. -- Lois Dungan Brickey, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at her home.
She was a member of Roberts Chapel United Methodist Church and the widow of C.P. (Carl) Brickey Sr.
She was a graduate of Chilhowie High School, attended Radford University and Emory & Henry College.
She was a teacher for 40 years in the Smyth County School System and a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are a son, C.P. Brickey Jr. of Broadford; a daughter, Page Arnold of Saltville; a sister, Marguerite Bunch of Seven Mile Ford, Va.; three grandchildren, Preston Brickey, Kathy Pearce and Gary Arnold II; and four great-grandchildren, Carl Preston Brickey IV, Alex Michael Brickey, Chelsea Page Pearce and Morgan Katherine Pearce; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 8 p.m. in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Middle Fork Cemetery by D.R. Henderson Funeral Home of Saltville.

Funeral services for Orvold Walter Broberg will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Mountain View Mausoleum Chapel by Weaver Funeral Home of Bristol, Tenn. The Rev. Bill Arnold will officiate.
Mr. Broberg, 88, of 1807 Norway St., Bristol, Va., died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House.
He was born in Dassel, Minn., and had lived in Bristol for the past 23 years.
He was a retired millwright machinist with Carlings Brewery and a member of Shelby Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Marcella Broberg; two stepdaughters, Billie Dixon of Bristol Virginia and Sharon Reed of Blountville; a stepson, James Gordon Keith of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Broberg was preceded in death by a daughter, Lucille Turpin; and a grandson, Mitchell Turpin.
Among survivors are grandchildren Thomas Knudson, Jan Olson, Sheri Elstmann, Linda Kresa and Mary Lynn Thomas, all of Minnesota; and step-grandchildren, Kathy Anderson of Abingdon, Amy Anderson of Fort Benning, Ga., Jason Keith of Chicago, Eric Keith of Charleston, S.C., Donna K. Kellner of Telford, Tenn., and Amanda Reed of Blountville.

Mr. Crabtree, 86, of 1905 Fifth St., died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, in a Richlands hospital.
Pallbearers will be James Short Jr., Michael Short, Leonard Short, Dennis Short, Jonathan Shelton, Joshua Shelton and Brian Keith Crabtree. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Lambert and the men of Richlands Tabernacle.
