Charles C. Sturgill
CHILHOWIE -- Charles Clarence "Cat" Sturgill, 91, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, in Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion.
He was a retired employee of Brunswick Corp.
Surviving are two sons, Roger C. Sturgill and James D. Sturgill, both of Chilhowie; a brother, James L. Sturgill of Salem; four sisters, Blanch
Jones of Chilhowie, Ruth Wolfard of Bristol Virginia, Pearl Heath of Marion and Dora Leigh Russell of Salem; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in
Williams Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Armand Jalbert will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Among survivors are daughters-in-law Carolyn P. Sturgill and Linda C. Sturgill, both of Chilhowie; granddaughter Debra L. Sturgill of Chilhowie; grandsons Brian D. Sturgill of Brooklyn Heights, Ohio, and Kevin C. Sturgill of Chilhowie.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in
Williams Funeral Home.
Ira Suttles
COEBURN -- Ira Suttles, 92, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital in Norton.
He was a lifelong resident of Coeburn, a retired coal miner and a former employee of VICC and Blue Diamond Coal Co.
Surviving are two nephews, Jimmy Suttles and Gene Suttles, both of Springfield, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 8 p.m. in Estes Funeral Home. The Rev. Bruce Pilkenton will officiate. Burial will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Coeburn.
Among survivors are special friends Jack and Mary Lou Rogers of Wise.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Friday in Estes Funeral Home.
Charles D. Thomas Jr.
Funeral services for Charles David Thomas Jr. will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. in Cold Spring Presbyterian Church. Dr. Andrew Spence will officiate. Burial will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
Mr. Thomas, 80, of 321 Cold Spring Church Road, Bristol, Tenn., died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in NHC Healthcare.
Pallbearers will be Dale Thomas, Joe Thomas III, Scott Thomas, Danny King, Kenneth King, Brock Fleenor, James Graham and Charles "Chuck" King. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Fred Greear, elders and deacons of Cold Spring Presbyterian Church, S.D. Hale, Lewis King, Claude Brown, Jim Eller, Jimmy Rock, David Leonard and Bud Davies.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday in the church.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Cold Spring Presbyterian Church Building Fund.

Funeral services for Akard Wyatt will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. at the graveside in National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tenn. The Rev. Clarence Lewis will officiate.
Mrs. Wyatt, 76, of 305 Corpus Christi Drive, Bristol, Tenn., died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House.

CEDAR BLUFF -- Graveside services for Nicholas "Nick" Conti will be conducted Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell. The Rev. Dan Brady will officiate.
Mr. Conti, 90, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.

David Deel
BIRCHLEAF, Va. -- David "Junior" Deel, 70, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in Dickenson County Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Fred H. and Flora J. Owens Deel and a retired miner. He attended Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Pinkie Deel; three sons, David Deel of the home, Larry Deel of Haysi and Kenny Deel of Paris, Tenn.; two daughters, Mary Kuhr of Algonac, Mich., and Sandra Justice of Birchleaf; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Haysi Funeral Home. Elders Paul Varney, Joel Turner, Franklin Viers, Garnell Gilbert, Josh Viers and Price Viers will officiate. Burial will be in A.F. Deel Cemetery, Route 2, Haysi, Va.
Among survivors are daughters-in-law Vernie Deel of Haysi and Joann Deel of Paris, and sons-in-law Dave Kuhr of Algonac and Johnny Justice of Birchleaf.
Pallbearers will be Blaine Deel, Chris Cox, Steve Kuhr, Mike Kuhr, Brian Deel, John Justice, Micheal Swanner and Berlin Justice.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the funeral home, where a service will be held at 7 p.m. both nights.

Sue Gilliland, 59, of Bristol Tennessee died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of the Salvation Army Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Cathy Jackson of Bristol Virginia, Lynn Martin of Bloomington, Ind., Ruth Lydel of Wisconsin, and Jimmie Taylor of Los Angeles; a sister, Ethel Norris of Gibsonville, N.C.; a brother, John Walling of Bristol Virginia; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
