Funeral services for Elden S. Hudson will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Akard Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gordon Turnbull will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Hudson, 82, of Bristol Virginia, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in Bristol Nursing Home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Graham Landrum's Bible Class of First Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday before the service in Akard Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, 701 Flordia Ave., Bristol, Tenn., or a charity of choice.
Pauline Jackson
BLUFF CITY -- Pauline Jackson, 72, of 413 Silver Grove Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in
Johnson City Medical Center Hospital.
She was born in Sullivan County, a daughter of the late, Robert Lee and Martha Jane Pirrgon. She was the widow of Acie Pierce Jackson.
Surviving are seven sons, Harold Edward Jackson, Robert Lee Jackson and Randy Lynn Jackson, all of Bluff City, Joseph Steven Jackson of Bristol Tennessee, James Martin Jackson of Rockwood, Charles Wayne Jackson of
Johnson City and Freddie Dale Jackson of Blountville; five sisters, Betty Jean Jackson of Bluff City, Helen Louise Jackson of
Johnson City, Alice Vane Wise of Bluff City, Mildred Diane Jackson of Bristol Tennessee and Linda Gail Vaught of Piney Flats; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and eight step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Bluff City Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home. The Revs. Jeff Harless and Louis
Smith will officiate. Graveside services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Sunrise Cemetery in Bluff City. Those attending the graveside services should meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday.
Mrs. Jackson was also preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Loughian.
Among survivors are three special friends, Shirley and Mary Lindamood and Jamie Earhart.
Pallbearers will be Danny Shehan, Sid Johnson, Junior Perry, Ronnie Weten, Allen Westen and Paul Dowell. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren of Mrs. Jackson.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel or other times at the residence.

Clara Addline Townsend Mann, 85, of 117 Crockett St., Bristol, Va., died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late James and Rosa Ella Townsend. She was of the Baptist faith and the widow of George K. Mann.
Surviving are four sons, Frank Lynn Mann and Gary C. Mann, both of Bristol Virginia, George A. Mann of Marietta, Ga., and Stanley W. Mann of Bristol Tennessee; two daughters, Rosella Carol Tench of Bristol Virginia, and Gloria Jean
Smith of Troutman, N.C.; a sister, Mattie Mann of Bristol Virginia; a brother, James Howard Townsend of Bristol Virginia; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel in Bristol, Tenn. The Rev. Donald Smith, a son-in-law, and the Rev. Tony Tench, a grandson, will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Helen Buretta Metzger, 68, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in Vitas Hospice in Winter Park.
She was born in Wise County, Va., a son of the late John and Ethel James Brickey. She had lived in Kissimmee for 21 years and was a retired employee of Lerio Corp.
Surviving are her husband, Robert E. Metzger; a son, Ronnie Clark of Davenport; three brothers, Joe Brickey of Abingdon, Va., Lloyd Brickey of Gary, W.Va., and Sidney Vearl Brickey of Max Meadows, Va.; a sister, Loretta Donham of Ramona, Calif.; two granddaughters; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Estes Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Randall Brickey will officiate. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery in Coeburn, Va.
Among survivors are granddaughters Meghan and Adrienne.
The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Friday in Estes Funeral Home.

Elma Mullins
ST. PAUL -- Funeral services for Elma Mullins will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Howard Reynolds and Larken Boothe will officiate. Burial will be in Skeens Cemetery in Castlewood.
Mrs. Mullins, 78, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in Norton Community Hospital.
She was born in Wise County, a daughter of the late Emory and Sally Alva McReynolds Wright. She was a member of
Wells Chapel.
Surviving are her husband, the Rev. Carlos Mullins; two daughters, Cathy Maine of Coeburn and Linda Horne of Nickelsville; a son, Carlos Mullins Jr. of St. Paul; five sisters, Sally Long of Coeburn, Mae Huffman of Lebanon, Shirley Mulharran of Alexandria, Irene Robinette of Mosheim, Tenn., and Ruth Mullins St. Paul; four brothers, Earl Wright and Raymond Wright, both of Coeburn, Bert Wright and Roger Wright, both of Mosheim; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Among survivors are grandchildren Jamey Castle, Kevin Horne, Jeremy Maine, Sonny Mullins and Heather Mullins; and great-grandchildren Brook Castle, Kayla Mays and Amber Hill.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Maine, Les Horne, Sonny Mullins, Jamey Castle, Kevin Horne, Randy Hamilton and Jeremy Maine.

The four-year-old son of Estil Edward "Ed" Peck Jr. and Teresa Ann Reynolds Peck, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in
Johnson City Medical Center.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- Frances Gertrude Pennington, 76, formerly of Oviedo, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000.
She was the widow of Samuel J. Pennington.
Surviving are a son, Robert A. Pennington; a daughter, Katherine E. Frye; a sister, Cecilia E. Winnie; two brothers, Robert T. Allen and Stuart E. Allen; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Barnett's Marion Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Azen Cemetery.

Joseph C. Purcell
GRIFFIN, Ga. -- Dr. Joseph Carroll Purcell, 78, of 106 Summit Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, in Spalding Regional Hospital.
He was born in Cleveland, Va., a son of the late Jackson Roy Purcell and Frances "Fannie" D. Gray Purcell. He was the widower of Athena Sampson Purcell. He attended public schools of Cleveland and upon graduation, served with the 28th Army Infantry Division during World War II and the Allied invasion of Western Europe. After military service, he received a bachelor of arts degree and master's degree in economics from Virginia Polytechnical Institute. He obtained his doctorate from the University of Iowa.
In 1953, he began work at the Georgia Experiment Station in Griffin, Ga., where he remained for 38 years and was head of the department of economics until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of Griffin Rotary Club.
Surviving are two sisters, Mary E. Schoemaker and Virginia Kiser, both of Cleveland, Va.
Funeral services will be held Saturday in Griffin, Ga.

Stacy Street
HONAKER -- Stacy Street, 77, of Hillman Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in a Lebanon hospital.
She was born in Buchanan County, a daughter of the late Bryant and Elmer Wimmer Street. She had lived in the Honaker area for the past 35 years and attended Outreach Temple in Wysor Valley.
Surviving are six daughters, Wanda Owens, Venita "Nickie" Lowe, Donna Street, Barbara Lowe and Janie S. Baldwin, all of Honaker, and Mrs. Gene (Phyllis) McConnell of Bluff City; three sons, Jerry Street of Tazewell and Larry Street and Johnny Street, both of Honaker; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Honaker Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Ancil Childress and Arvil Arwood will officiate. Burial will be in Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon.
Mrs. Street was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Joe Street; a son, James Street; and a brother, Jennings A. Street.
Pallbearers will be Joe Keen, Roger Street, Jerry Dye, L.C. Bryant, Glenn Honaker and Jerry Gillespie. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Rasnake, Billy Helton, Willard Helton, Ray Coleman, Cecil Keen, McKinley Blankenship and Cecil Shortt.
