VanZILE
Betsey Bryan VanZile, age 60, of Atlanta, formerly of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thorney Cyril VanZile Jr., and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lamont Stewart Bryan of Richmond. Mrs. VanZile is survived by her son, Thomas G. Ross II, who is also the son of George Thomas Ross of Richmond; her daughter-in-law, Mary M. Ross; and granddaughter, Tennant Ross, all of Marietta, Ga.; her sister, Mrs. Emily Bryan Jeffreys of New Canaan, Conn.; and her niece, Isobel Jeffreys White of Dallas, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Brook Road. A reception for the family will be held at Brook Hill after the services. Her family suggests memorial contributions may be made to a cancer hospice or to Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg.
WERNER
Kathleen B. Werner, age 88, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2001. Mrs. Werner was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Edwin H. Werner; and by her parents, William J. and Annie Barbour of Waynesboro. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Parker; son-in-law, Victor Parker; grandson, Scott Parker, all of Richmond; and grandson, Chris Parker and his wife, Tonia of High Point, N.C. Mrs. Werner was a registered nurse receiving part of her training at the Medical College of Virginia, prior to her employment by Dupont in Waynesboro. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Services for Mrs. Werner will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, April 2. BEACH
Mr. Leonard Alton Beach, age 64, of Hopewell, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001 at his residence. Leonard was born April 2, 1937 in Hopewell, the son of the late Leonard Edward and Naron Elizabeth
Powell Beach. Mr. Beach traveled worldwide as a superintendent of electrical construction and was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 666 Richmond for forty-three years. Survivors include his wife of thirty-two years, Iva Henegar Beach; two daughters, Deborah Annette Beach Bruner and Dorothy Diane (D.D.) Beach, both of Chester; two sons, Dwayne Reed Beach of Colonial Heights and Thomas Aaron Beach of Hopewell; one brother, Kenneth E. Beach of Prince George; and six grandchildren, Tina Dawn Beach, Claire Sunderland Levenson, Daniel Alton Beach, Molly Sussannah Beach, Tessa Nicole Beach and Naomi Fawn Showalter. A son, David Lynn Beach, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Gould Chapel, Nelsen Funeral Home, Hopewell, Va. (804) 458-6377. Margaret Rose Darnall Billups, age 60, of Richmond, formerly of Mt. Hope, W.Va., passed away July 9, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lawrence Billups Sr. and her parents, Helen Alyne and William H. Darnall Jr. She is survived by her children, William (Bill) Billups Jr. of Richmond; and Laura Gindek and husband, Dave of Monroe, Conn.; her brother, William H. Darnall III and wife, Nancy of Costa Mesa, Calif.; her grandchildren, David, Megan, and Kaitlin Gindek. The family is deeply appreciative of the prayers, acts of concern and love expressed by friends during Margaret's long illness. Alice Payne Carr of 6725 Kensington Ave., Richmond, died July 9, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Carr and is now survived by her husband, Herbert St. Clair of Richmond; one nephew, Franklin (Frankie Payne); a niece, Joanne Zickefoose; a great-nephew, Scott Zickefoose and a great-niece, Amy Zickefoose, all of Kents Store, Va. She was retired from C&P Telephone where she worked as a clerk. She was a member of Monument Heights Baptist Church. Graveside funeral services will be held at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery in Goochland County at 11 a.m. Friday, July 13. Family will receive friends at West Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad Street from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday. Clara Bow Daniels, 63, went back on July 10, 2001. She was employed with Shoney's of Richmond for over 42 years. She leaves behind in life and in Christ Jesus her daughter, Debbie; son-in-law, Tony; two grandchildren, Kolbe and Shane; her brothers and sisters, Roy, Sue and Junior Daniels, Dian Anderson, David and Tammy Daniels, Roy Lee and Brenda Sanson; their children, Jessica, Angela and Abraham; nieces, Sarah, Diana, Mary, Tabitha and Rachel Daniels; nephews, Randy Daniels, John Anderson and Jason Daniels. Foster departed this life July 9, 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and John Foster; and a brother, John

Smith Drive, died Monday, July 9, 2001, in Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News. She was a native of Randolph County, North Carolina, a housewife, and a Baptist. Her husband, Lewis Boone Frazier, and a daughter, Mozelle Frazier Flynn preceded Mrs. Frazier in death. Survivors include daughter, Juanita Frazier Abernathy, Smithfield; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-greatgranddaughter. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, July 12, at 2 p.m. in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Blackstone, with Clyde Senger officiating.
