Helen Louise Austin
Helen Louise Austin, 72, of 205 Stafford St., Bristol, Tenn., died Friday, March 10, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Bristol Tennessee, a daughter of the late Nannie Belle Merritt. She was a former employee of Buntings Drug Store and retired from Raytheon Corp. She was a member of Fellowship Chapel Church and the Ladies Dorcas Circle. She was the widow of John S. Austin.
Surviving are two sons, Todd Austin and Bobby Austin, both of Bristol Tennessee; two daughters, Darlene McPherson of Bristol Tennessee and Becky Kestner of Blountville; two sisters, Ann Neil of Blountville and Betty Kendrick of Bristol Tennessee; a brother, Bill Blair of Mountain City, Tenn; two grandsons; four granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Lester MacKinnon and Scott Price will officiate. Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Austin was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, John S. Austin, and her precious mother, Nannie Belle Merritt.
Pallbearers will be Steve White, Terry White, Mark White, Ken Kendrick, Anthony Kendrick and Brock Malcolm. Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde White, Dr. Earl Wilson, Dr. Steve Hanor, Dr. Baron and the entire staff of 2 East of Bristol Regional Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday in Weaver Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Jimmie Neal Davis Sr. will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. Ministers Don Moorhouse and Don Merryman will officiate. Burial will be in Buffalo Christian Church Cemetery with military rites by Patton-Crosswhite VFW Post 6975 of Bristol.
Mr. Davis, 81, of 2206 Carolina Ave., Bristol, Tenn., died Thursday, March 9, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Pallbearers will be Phil Phillips, Phil Henson, Mike Osborne, Dannis Goff, Todd Arrants, Jackie Vance, Bear Vance and Steven Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be George Large, Verlin Osborne, Frank Arnold, Don Vance and members of the Mens Sunday School Class at Buffalo Christian Church.

Ruby M. Davis
GRUNDY -- Ruby Ethel McClanahan Davis, 76, of Route 1, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at her home.
She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a daughter of the late Glenn and Sarah Jane Elswick McClanahan, a member of Bull Creek Old Regular Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, J. Marshall Davis; three daughters, Ilene D. Lee of Grayslake, Ill., Mary Magdalene D. Afton of Chattanooga and Charlotte Justus of Grundy; two sons, Donald Davis of Roanoke and Randy Davis of Brooksville, Fla.; three sisters, Ruth Owens of Grundy, Eula Fields of Tinley Park, Ill., and Mary Charlene Baker of Williamsburg, Ohio; eight brothers, Curby McClanahan of Delaware, Ohio, Roy McClanahan of Grundy, Robert McClanahan of Roanoke, Alvie McClanahan and Arville McClanahan, both of Pataskla, Ohio, Hassell McClanahan of Midlothian, Ill., Harold McClanahan of Utica, Ohio, and George Stuart McClanahan of Carroll, Ohio; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Grundy Funeral Home Chapel. Elders Frank OQuinn, MacArthur Varney and Willis Conrad will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock.
Mrs. Davis was also preceded in death by a son, Edsel H. Davis; and a sister, Beulah Fay McClanahan.
Among survivors are sons-in-law Tommy Lee of Grayslake and Richard Afton of Chattanooga; grandchildren Melissa Conner of Roanoke, Nancy Miller of The Woodlands, Texas, and Nicholas Ryan Justus of Grundy; great-grandchildren, Brad Conner of Roanoke and Payton Miller of The Woodlands; step-great-grandchildren Perry and Jonathan Mullins, both of Salvisa, Ky., and Jason Cole Mullins of Norcross, Ga.; and extended family members Pat, Randy, Jon and Chris Jackson of Vansant.
She was the oldest of 13 children born to the late Glenn and Sarah Jane Elswick McClanahan. She was a homemaker, where she delighted in caring for her family and elderly family members throughout their lives.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Friends may call at 5 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home, where a service will be held at 7 p.m. Evangelist Michael Trent will officiate.

KEEN MOUNAIN, Va. -- Funeral services for Starlin McKinley Davis will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Buchanan Funeral Service Chapel at Keen Mountain. The Revs. Ancil Childress and Danny Hess will officiate. Burial will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
Mr. Davis, 80, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, in a Grundy hospital.

Mr. Dye, 69, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Herndon, 74, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at his home.

PINEY FLATS -- Margaret Gill Morris, 76, of 404 Cottonwood Lane died Thursday, March 9, 2000, in
Johnson City Medical Center.
She was born in Asheville, N.C., a daughter of the late Troy and Carrie Wilson Gill. He moved to Piney Flats in 1987 and was a member of Piney Flats Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband, Thad Morris; two sons, Randy Morris of Piney Flats and Charlie Morris of Bristol Tennessee; two sisters, Virginia Gambill of Hendersonville, N.C., and Peggy Cavan of Portagus, Ind.; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. in Piney Flats Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Charles Taylor will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service Sunday in the church.

Roger Paul Prater
PAW PAW, Ky. -- Roger Paul Prater, 53, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Pike County, Ky., a son of Lucy Estep Prater of Paw Paw and the late Eli Prater, and had been a resident of Pike County most of his life. He was a coal miner and timberman.
Surviving, besides his mother, are five sisters, Mildred Ward of Cheshire, Ohio, Bonnie Sharp of Milford, Del., Brenda Deel of Haysi and Janice Justus and Eleanor Deel, both of Belfast, Va.; three brothers, Cecil Prater and Lonzo Prater, both of Paw Paw, and Ferrell Prater of Hurley, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in Union Light Freewill Baptist Church by Grundy Funeral Home. The Rev. William Prater and Tommy Conn will officiate. Burial will be in Prater Cemetery in Paw Paw.
Mr. Prater was also preceded in death by five brothers, Hursel, Hassell, Earl, Clyde and Avery Prater.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Friends may call at 5 p.m. Sunday in the church, where services will be held at 7 p.m.
