NORA, Va. -- Alma Buchanan, 68, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, in Norton Community Hospital.
She was born in Dickenson County, a daughter of Vickie McCoy of Nora. She was the widow of Lewis Buchanan.
Surviving, besides her mother, are a daughter, Mary McCoy of Nora; five sons, Ray McCoy, Marshall Gene McCoy, Jimmy McCoy, Billy Mace McCoy and Luther Welch, all of Jefferson City, Mo.; four sisters, Bertie Cochran of Belle, Mo., Shirley Salyers of Coeburn and Barbara Jackson and Carrie McCoy, both of Nora; three brothers, McArthur McCoy of Aurora, Ill., Gene Autry McCoy of Nora and Jonas McCoy of Hillsville; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in McCoy Church Chapel, Route 1, Nora. The Revs. Roger McCoy, Ernie Addington and Harold Meade will officiate. Burial will be in McCoy Family Cemetery, Route 1, Nora.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The body will be taken to the church Tuesday morning, where friends may call Tuesday and Wednesday.

Frances B. Carreras
NAPLES, Fla. -- Frances B. Carreras, 95, formerly of Bristol Tennessee, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, in Naples.
She was born in Petersburg, Va., a daughter of the late Janet Hayes and James William Bozel. She lived in Bristol from 1942 until moving to Naples in 1990. She was a member of Moorings Presbyterian Church and the Pelican Bay Club in Naples. She was the widow of Dr. Wilfred C. Carreras, who was a physician in Bristol from 1946-78.
A memorial service was held Oct. 31 in Naples.

Gordon Castle
COEBURN -- Gordon Castle, 91, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in St. Mary's Hospital in Norton.
He was a retired miner and the widower of Ethel Mae Castle. He was of the Holiness faith.
Surviving are seven sons, William Tennessee Castle and Estel Harrison Castle, both of Coeburn, Allen Ralph Castle and Floyd Ernest Castle, both of Lexington Park, Md., Dallas Ray Castle of Weber City, Va., Benjamin T. Castle of Kingsport and Bruce Sexton of Gate City; three daughters, Helen Loretta Conner of Wise, Margie Marie Castle of Coeburn and Alice Mae Freeman of St. Paul, Va.; 25 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Coeburn. The Rev. Henry Hamm will officiate. Burial will be in Castle Cemetery in Coeburn.
The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Wednesday in Sturgill Funeral Home.

DANVILLE, Va. -- Funeral services for Etta Virginia McQuire Chapman will be conducted Tuesday at 8 p.m. in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. David Mumpower will officiate.
Mrs. Chapman, 82, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at her home.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday before the services in the funeral home. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Mount Rose Cemetery.

RICHLANDS -- Eva Hester Vandyke Cox, 75, of 121 Franklin Ave., died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at her home.
She was born in Buchanan County, a daughter of the late Harve Vandyke and Macie Nipper Vandyke Lowe, both Buchanan County, Va., natives. She was a lifelong resident of the Richlands area, a retired employee of Mattie
Williams Hospital and a member of Old Premier Full Gospel Temple at Red Ash, Va. She was the widow of Lee Cox.
Surviving are a son, Delmer Cox of Doran, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Roy (Virginia) Hess or Richlands, Lottie Shelton of Doran and Mrs. Jack (Irene) Patrick of Paintlick, Va.; a brother, Raymond Vandyke of Raven, Va.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands. The Revs. Carl Ball and Leonard Meadows will officiate. Burial will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Va.
Among survivors are a special friend, Anis Whitt; a special caregiver, Greta Reynolds; grandchildren Kathy Cox and Mrs. Thaddeus (Vickie) McCoy; and a great-grandchild, Tamara McCoy.

He was a son of the late Oscar Grant and Gennie Tivner Grant. He was of the Baptist faith and a retired chemical plant worker.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma Grant of Teays Valley, W.Va.; three daughters, Janet Rose of Hurricane, W.Va., Betty McNeil of Van Croft, W.Va., and Phyllis Kinder of St. Albans, W.Va.; three sons, Bill Grant of Wise, Darrell Wayne Grant of Beckley, W.Va., and Johnny Grant of St. Albans, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was born in Grayson County, Va., and lived in Marlinton.
Surviving are a son, Sam Hannah of Marlinton; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Eleanor) Thayer of Abingdon; six grandchildren, Kevin Thayer and Kreg Thayer, both of Abingdon, Melissa Bozardt of Charlotte, N.C., Steve Hannah, Kim Jordon and Elizabeth Malcom, all of Marlinton; and 10 great-grandchildren.
