RICHLANDS -- Funeral services for Eva Hester Vandyke Cox will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands. The Revs. Carl Ball and Leonard Meadows will officiate. Burial will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Va.
Mrs. Cox, 75, of 121 Franklin Ave., died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at her home.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Baldwin, Paul Vance, Thaddeus McCoy, Wayne Ward, Bobby
Johnson and Bobby Ball.
Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Harris, Dr. E.E. Moore, everyone at Community Home Care and Hospice of Norton.

Janice Marie "Jan" Denton, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999.

Mildred W. Dungan
BRADENTON, Fla. -- Mildred Wright Dungan, 91, formerly of Damascus, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in Blake Medical Center in Bradenton.
She was born in Damascus, a daughter of the late Nathaniel S. and Ollie Berry Wright.
She taught English in Damascus from 1928-49.
She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and Damascus United Methodist Church.
She was the widow of William Emmitt Dungan.
Surviving are a son, Christopher W. Dungan of Bradenton; a sister, Kathleen Nylander of Richmond; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Damascus.

Helen H. Fields
ABINGDON -- Helen H. Fields, 67, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Dickenson County and lived most of her life in Washington County, Va.
She was a member of Greendale Chapel in Abingdon and retired from Harwood Manufacturing in Abingdon after 38 years.
Surviving are her husband, Edgar F. Fields; a son, Eddie Wayne Fields of Abingdon; a daughter, Hope Waddell of Abingdon; two brothers, James Hay and Elmer Hay, both of Abingdon; a sister, Stella Fields of Abingdon; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Greendale Chapel.
The Rev. Jerry Eggers will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Edmiston, Jason Fields, Frankie Fogleman, Teddy Rasnake, Allen Hay, Dean Fields and Scott Hay.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Greendale Chapel.

Mrs. Johnson, 77, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in Norton Community Hospital.

SANFORD, Fla. -- Gerald Lilley, 65, of 424 Steill Forrest Terrace, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at his home.

He was born in Bluff City, a son of the late Ivan "Pat" and Stella Oliver Lilley.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Lilley; and a son, Brian Lilley of Sanford.

William C. Massingill
BLOUNTVILLE -- Graveside services for William C. Massingill will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Glenwood Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Marines Lima Company 3//24.
Mr. Massingill, of 518 Shadow Town, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at his home.

Ethel C. McCord
Ethel Counts McCord, 98, of 213 Maple Tree Drive, Bristol, Tenn., died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at her home.
She was born in Flintville, Tenn., a daughter of the late Andrew Edward Counts and Ella Shepard Counts.
She was the widow of James L. McCord Sr and a long-time member of State Street Methodist Church, where she taught children and adult Sunday school classes for more than 50 years. She was a member and past president of the United Methodist Women and served on various committees of the church.
She was a former president of the PTA and served on the Bristol Tennessee School Board for two terms during the 1940s including one term as chairman. She was past president of Bristol Music Club and the YWCA. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, American Red Cross, League of Women Voters, Women's History Club, New Era Study Club and a participant for many years at the YMCA.
Surviving are three daughters, Winona Tipton of Bristol Tennessee, Virginia Barker of Bristol Virginia and Daphne Nicar of Nashville; a son, James L. McCord Jr. of Bluff City; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at State Street United Methodist Church by Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. The Revs. Fred Dearing and Jonathan Jonas will officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. McCord was also preceded in death by two sons-in-law, James P. Barker Jr. and L. Howard Nicar.
Among survivors are grandchildren Daphne Lynn DeVault, James C. DeVault Jr., David E. Tipson, Pamela Tipton, Michael D. Tipton, J. Mark McCord, Benjamin T. McCord, Corrine McKinney and James P. Barker III; a daughter-in-law, Daphne McCord; a son-in-law, Harold D. Tipton; a grandson-in-law; six granddaughters-in-law; and five special friends, Wilma Smith, Shelby Shelley, Pam Perkey, Jennifer Boggess and Judy Fern.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Thursday in the church parlor.

KINGSPORT -- Gordon Montgomery, 78, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at his home.

Glen Nickles
ABINGDON -- Glen Nickles, 78, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at his home.
He was born in Buchanan County, a son of the late William Bowen and Ida Nickles.
He lived most of his life in Dayton, Ohio, before moving to Abingdon in 1988.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division.
While in Dayton, he volunteered as a cook for several nursing homes and hospitals.
Surviving are his wife, Faye Sesco Nickles; a brother, Thomas Harold Nickles of North Tazewell, Va.; four sisters, Bessie Sammons of South Williamson, Ky., Ruby Hagy and Ruth Pridemore, both of Abingdon, and Wanda Wright of Huntington, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in Farris Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. Ancil Childress will officiate. Burial will be in
Green Hills Memory Gardens.
Mr. Nickles was also preceded in death by two brothers, Claude Nickles and Elmer Nickles.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Wilburn, Dr. Steven Hanor, Dr. Sarfraz Zaidi, Gene McCluskey and Dan Hendrickson.
