BLOUNTVILLE -- Aaron Vernon Malone, 70, of 1424 Freeman Road, died Monday, March 8, 1999, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County.
He was employed with Eastman Kodak until retiring ten years ago and was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Doran Malone; three sons, Larry Malone of Indian Springs, Tenn., Dale Malone, of Church Hill, Tenn., and Donnie Malone of Blountville; six grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Griffin of Blountville, June Malone and Lyndall Cunningham, both of Kingsport, and Carrie Lindland of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, E.B. Malone of
Johnson City and Kyle Malone of Kingsport.

SWORDS CREEK, Va. -- Lewis Lee Miller, 51, of the Clark Valley section, died Monday, March 8, 1999, at his home.

Deborah Riden
Deborah "Debbie" Riden, 41, of Bristol Tennessee, died Monday, March 8, 1999, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., from injuries received in an automobile accident.
She was a native of Clintwood, and had lived in Bristol since 1986. She was employed by King College and American Realty.
Survivors include a daughter, Jaima Dawn McCown of Bristol; a son, Daniel Shane McCown of Bristol; her parents, Alfred and Clayetta Tompkins Mullins of Clintwood; two sisters, Tracey Baker of Clintwood, and Andra Walker of
Johnson City; three brothers, Mike Mullins of Wise, Jimmy Mullins of Bristol Virginia and John Mullins of Clintwood; her grandmother, Samatha Mullins of Clintwood, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Brian E. Roberson
KINGSPORT -- Brian Eldredge Roberson, 35, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at his home.
He was a native of Washington County and was employed as a computer network coordinator for the Virginia Department of Transportation's Southwest Division.
He was a 1982 graduate of Washington College Academy and was majoring in computer science at East Tennessee State University.
He was a member of Jonesborough United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his parents, William E. and Mary Nelle Bacon Roberson, both of Jonesborough; a brother, Craig B. Roberson of Knoxville; a sister, Anna J. Roberson of Maryville; two nephews; and two nieces.

Pearly E. Smith
Pearly Elizabeth Smith, 75, of 22 Holly Lane, Bristol, Va., died Monday, March 8, 1999, at her home.
She was a native of Clintwood and had lived in Marion, Ohio, for many years before moving to Bristol in 1992.
In Ohio, she was a real estate agent, a housemother at the Marion County Children's Home, and a charter member of the Church of Christ.
She attended Central Christian Church in Bristol.
Survivors include her husband, Arvin Ralph Smith; a daughter, Linda Arndt of Liberty, Mo.; two sons, Bill G. Murphy of Smithville, Mo., and Bob Earl Murphy of Longwood, Fla.; a step-son, Wilford
Smith of Marion; three step-daughters, Connie Sue Franklin and Becky Gruber, both of Marion, and Bonnie Ricks of Centerville, Ohio; two brothers, Frank Mullins of Clinchco, Va., and Fred Mullins of Mooresburg, Tenn; two sisters, June Mullins of Clintwood, and Mae Barnett of El Paso, Texas; six grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The body has been taken to Boyd Funeral Home in Marion, Ohio, for the funeral service and burial.

Lynn D. Sparks
Lynn Sparks, 81, of Bristol Tennessee, died Sunday, March 7, 1999 in Salem Health & Rehabilitation Center in Salem, Va.
He was a native of Roanoke and had lived in Bristol for the past 73 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.
He was a member of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church and was active in the Young at Heart Class at the church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Houser Sparks.
Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy S. Wilson of Roanoke, and Juanita S. Perkins of Danville, Va.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and -nephews; and great-great-great-nieces and -nephews.

Mae L. Sutherland
KINGSPORT -- Mae L. Sutherland, 80, died Monday, March 8, 12999.
She was a native of Dickenson County and had lived for a short time in Ohio. She was a resident of Kingsport for most of her life.
She was a member of First Apostolic Christian Church.
She was the widow of Ralph C. Sutherland.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Sims of Greeneville; a granddaughter; two sisters, Ethel Hicks of New Hall, W.Va., and Gladys Huffman of Cleveland, Va.; and a brother, Ellis J. Bailey of St. Paul, Va.

Edith F. Whitt
HURRICANE, W.Va. -- Mrs. Edith Fleming Whitt, 79, of 77 Willowood Circle, formerly of Richlands, Va., died Monday, March 8, 1999, in a Hurricane nursing home.
She was a native of Trammel, Va., and was a retired LPN at the Clinch Valley Clinic Hospital and the Mattie
Williams Hospital in Richlands, Va., having worked 22 years before retiring in 1972.
She had lived in the Richlands and Raven areas most of her life before moving to West Virginia four years ago and was a member of the Richlands First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin B. Whitt; three sons, Jerry B. Whitt of Kokomo, Ind., Larry P. Whitt of Hurricane, and Charles Dahnmon Whitt Sr. of Flatwoods, Ky.; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

WISE -- Betsy Jane Akers, 43, died Sunday, March 7, 1999, in St. Mary's Hospital in Norton.
She was an employee of the Virginia Department of Transportation, a graduate of J.J. Kelly High School, and was of the Freewill Baptist faith.
Survivors include her mother, Georgia Hall Baldwin of Wise; and a brother, Henry N. Taylor Jr. of Norman, Okla.

SALTVILLE -- Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Boardwine, 88, died Monday, March 8, 1999, in Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie.
She was the widow of Howard Boardwine and a member of the McCready United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Shelley of Tallahassee, Fla.; two sisters, Lucille Ratcliff of Saltville, and Elouise Boardwine of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Lisa Underwood of Riverview, Fla., Shannon Webb of Morehead City, N.C., Pam Boardwine of Norton, Patty Boardwine of Nashville, and Penny Warsham of Knoxville; and six great-grandchildren.

Arlie W. "Tommy" Bullock, 70, of Bristol Tennessee, died Monday, March 8, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Bristol Tennessee, a U.S. Army veteran, and a retired employee of Beecham Laboratories with 37 years of service.
He was a member of Central Holston Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Larry Bullock of Bristol Tennessee; a sister, Doris Jane Davis of Bristol Tennessee; two brothers, Billy H. Bullock of Bristol Tennessee, and James H. Bullock of Morrow, Ga.; two grandchildren; two aunts; several cousins; and several nieces and nephews.
