Wilma L. Biddix
SPRUCE PINE, N.C. -- Wilma Lee Biddix, 66, of the Grassy Creek community, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, in a Spruce Pine hospital.
She was a member of Sinking Springs United Methodist Church in Bristol Tennessee, and attended Grassy Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis Biddix; four daughters, Denise Dover, Karen Grindstaff, Kim Townsend and Angie Biddix, all of Spruce Pine; a sister, Glenna Rouse of Bristol Tennessee; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday in Spruce Pine.

Robert L. Canter
Robert L. Canter, of 516 Wyandotte Road, Bristol Va., died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, in
Johnson City Medical Center.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Bristol, and a graduate of Virginia High School Class of 1945 and Roanoke Business College.
He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, a Mason with the Shelby Lodge and a Shriner of the Kazim Temple in Roanoke.
Mr. Canter retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation with 39 years of service, and was a member of the Men's Fellowship Class and First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Leonard Canter; a daughter, Carole Cox of Tallahassee, Fla.; two sons, Gregory Lee Canter of Kennesaw, Ga., and Gary V. Canter of Duluth, Ga.; two sisters, Mildred Sharrett and Dorothy Williams, both of Bristol Virginia; two brothers, Eddie W. Canter of Bristol Virginia, and Benjamin Canter of Detroit; and two grandchildren.

PULASKI, Tenn. -- Lillian Beatrice Freeman Gonzales, 82, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, in National Health Care in Pulaski.
She was a native of Tennessee and the retired owner and operator of the Midway Tourist Court.
She was a member of the Suburban Christian Church and the widow of Arthur Gonzales.
Survivors include a son, Jim Gonzales of Pulaski; two brothers, Coy Freeman and Eugene Freeman, both of Bristol Virginia; two sisters, Estella Silva and Thelma Hamilton, both of Bristol Virginia; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

John W. Lovegrove Jr.
John W. "Bill" Lovegrove Jr., 50, of 7608 E. Appalachian Trail, Harrisburg, Pa., died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, in Hershey Medical Center.
He was a native of Bristol Virginia.
He was employed as the Sales Manager for Francis Ford in Harrisburg, and formerly employed with Rufe Chevrolet in Carlisle and Olivetti Corporation in Harrisburg.
Mr. Lovegrove was a member of the Progress Fire Company Home Association and the Goldsboro Fire Company & Club. He was a former member of the Kelly-Tron Golf League, formerly the Olivetti Golf League, at Sportsman's Golf Course in Harrisburg.
Survivors include his fiancee, JoAnn M. Weyandt of Harrisburg; a daughter, Lauren Lovegrove of Etters; his mother, D. Carolyn Cameron Lovegrove of Bristol Tennessee; and a brother, Michael E. Lovegrove of Edinburg, Va.

Noah F. Plummer
ABINGDON -- Noah Franklin Plummer, 82, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Grayson County and had lived most of his life in Washington County.
He was a retired employee of the Town of Abingdon with 36 years of service.
Mr. Plummer was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Price Plummer, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Virginia Plummer; a son, Noah F. Plummer Jr. of Abingdon; two daughters, Mrs. Judy Ellen Russ and Mrs. Phyllis J. Walden, both of Abingdon; six stepsons, Tom Doss of Bristol Tennessee, Raymond Doss and John H. Doss, both of Abingdon, Dallas Doss of Glade Spring, Bufford Doss and Noah Doss, both of North Carolina; three stepdaughters, Hazel Lilly Mae Reedy of Seven Mile Ford, Va., Juanita Mahaley and Katherine Nunley, both of Abingdon; a sister, Ola Cook of Abingdon; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

MARION -- Bertha Mae Hall Roark, 75, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, in Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion.
She was the widow of John Early Roark and a member of the Cleghorn Baptist Church.

Johnson City; a brother, William Bethel Hall of Chilhowie; two sisters, Helen Robinson and Martha Eller, both of Chilhowie; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ruth A. Robinette
RUSSELL COUNTY -- Ruth Agnes Jamison Robinette, 96, of the Swords Creek section, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, in Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon.
She was a native of Russell County, and a member of the Clearview United Methodist Church in Raven, Va., the Order of the Eastern Star in Richlands, and the Swords Creek PTA.
She was the widow of Nick Robinette. She and her husband owned and operated the Raven Coffee Shop for several years.
Survivors include a son, Carl Robinette of Las Vegas, Nev.; three daughters, Mrs. Doris McGlothlin and Mrs. Cliff (Nancy) Lane, both of Raven, and Mrs. Gay Salsberry of Detroit; a sister, Mrs. Louise Rutherford of Honaker; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

ROANOKE -- Marriane Rose, formerly of Clinchco, Va., died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at her home.
She was a member of Rosalind Hills Baptist Church, a former member of Salem Baptist Church, and a member for many years in the Christian Women's Club, serving as treasurer. She was membership chairman for Rokeva Women's Club, and was secretary for Roanoke Valley Baptist Association WMU (Western Division). Mrs. Rose was formerly active with Roanoke Valley Republican Women's Club and the Thursday Morning Music Club.
Survivors include her husband, Harold E. Rose; a son, Hal Rose of Roanoke; a daughter, Melinda Kay Rose of Roanoke; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Earl (Madeline) Kerr of Abingdon, and Mrs. Albert (Marnella) Rodriguez of Rockville, Md.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
