POUND -- Violet Dotson Meade Hollyfield, 83, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center, Kingsport.
She was a member of Ferbie Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and was the widow of her first husband, Tolly Meade, and her second husband, Stuart Hollyfield.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Glenn (Jo An) Stewart, Pound, Mrs. John (Ina) Dingus, Mechanicsville, Va., and Mrs. Jim (Patsy) O'Brien, Eagan, Minn.; a stepdaughter, Mary Ann Goetzel, Greeley, Colo.; a stepson, Rayburn Hollyfield,
Johnson City; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Melvin Hutchens
BLOUNTVILLE -- Melvin "Hutch" Hutchens, 68, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at his home.
He was a native of Slab Fork, W.Va., a former resident of Beckley, W.Va., and had resided in Sullivan County since 1963.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, receiving five service medals with three Bronze Stars, and a Combat Infantry Badge. He was a retired Trailways and Greyhound bus driver with 40 years of service.
Mr. Hutchens was a member of the Order of Kentucky Colonels, Nova Scotia Order of Good Times, Tennessee Sheriff's Association and a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joy Marie Hutchens; a son, Gary Wayne Hutchens, Orlando, Fla.; four sisters, Violet Frances Shelor, Rustburg, Va., Norma Jean Cooper, Crab Orchid, W.Va., Mary Lou Crum, Beckley, W.Va., Carolyn Sue Kemp, Las Vegas, Nev.; three brothers, William "Bill" Hutchens and Richard B. Hutchens, both of Beckley, W.Va., and David Hutchens, Bedford, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Pauline G. Morton
Pauline Glover Morton, 89, of 400 Martindale Road, Bristol, Tenn., died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and a former employee of JCPenney. She was the widow of Ward C. Morton and a member of Central Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, John F. Morton, Bristol Tennessee; two granddaughters, Sarah Morton, Atlanta, and Susan Morton Leonard, Knoxville; a grandson, John W. Morton, Atlanta; and two great-grandchildren.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Lucy Boyd Perkins, 80, formerly of Marion, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, in Pentagon City Hospital, Arlington.
She was the widow of Elmer Perkins and the widow of Marvin Perkins.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharlette P. Quillen, Fredericksburg; two sons, Curby Perkins, Shawsville, Va., and Kenny Perkins, Stuarts Draft, Va.; two half-sisters, Clara Jackson, Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Gladys Litt, Butler, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

Virgie M. Williams
Virgie Mae Davis Williams, 88, of 14 Meadow St., Bristol, Va., died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Rogersville, Tenn., and had lived most of her life in this area. She was a homemaker, was of the Baptist faith and the widow of Ray Tester Williams.
Survivors include five daughters, Betty Jean Taylor, Oceanside, Calif., Naomi Ruth Patrick, Bluff City, Patsy Booher and Brenda Carol Hale, both of Bristol Tennessee, and Linda Sue Bowman, Blountville; two sons, Fred Allen Williams, Bristol Virginia, and Jerry Wayne Williams, Abingdon; 27 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Earl E. Wilson
Earl E. Wilson, 81, of 713 Edgemont Ave., Bristol, Tenn., died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and a retired elevator operator with R&K Building Company. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his former wife, Lora Kate Wilson, Bristol Virginia; three sons, Robert Wilson and Eddie Wilson, both of Bristol Virginia, and Junior Wilson, Bristol Tennessee; two daughters, Francis Trivette and Peggy Andis, both of Bristol Virginia; a brother, Dewey Wilson, Bristol Tennessee; two sisters, Louise Wilson Bower, Bristol Tennessee, and Edith Stephens, Bunnell, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

ROANOKE -- Neil Ferguson Young, 89, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, in Roanoke.
He was a graduate of Emory & Henry College and the University of Michigan. He coached and taught at King College, Bristol Tennessee, Emory & Henry College, Emory, Va., and the Citadel, Charleston, S.C.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran retiring as a major in 1965.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Crowgey Young; two daughters, Elizabeth Mae Young, Roanoke, and Mrs. N. Robert (Barbara Neil Young) Huff, South Miami, Fla.; a granddaughter, Mrs. James-Norman (Barbara Elizabeth) Poff, Roanoke; and several nieces and nephews.

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- William Haller "Hal" Copenhaver III, 62, of 600 Devenger Road, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998.
He was a graduate of Virginia Tech, a member of the South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers, the Palmetto Chapter of Virginia Tech Alumni Association, the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
He was a consulting engineer, registered in several states, and a member of Lutheran Church of Our Saviour.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Wolf Copenhaver; a daughter, Mrs. David (Carol Ann Copenhaver) Ford, Roswell, Ga.; a son, Stephen Haller Copenhaver, Marietta, Ga.; two sisters, Susan Hutton, Meadowview, and Martha Jo Beitner, Richmond; two grandchildren; and a step-grandson.
Services and burial will be held Sunday in Greenville.

GLEN LYN, Va. -- Lawrence B. Fletcher, 83, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, in Kelly Elder Care Home, Glen Lyn.
He was a native of Dickenson County, where he was employed as a coal miner in his younger years. He was a retired employee of the Chrysler Corporation and a member of Trelum Masonic Lodge No. 552 AF&AM, Madison Heights, Mich.
Survivors include a daughter, Maria Kowalski, Pioneer, Ohio; a son, Dean Fletcher, Dante; 13 stepchildren, Billy Jo, Anita, Juanita, Evelyn, Jim, Audrey, Donna, Sandra, Jerri, Shirley, Phyllis, Henrietta and Noel; and two grandchildren.

LEBANON -- Katherine W. Fuller, 84, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998,. in the Maple Grove Health Care Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Russell County, the retired owner of the Highway Beauty Shop, Lebanon, and a member of the
Green Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, A. Kemper Fuller Sr.; a daughter, Mrs. Vernard (Zeda) Douberly, Bristol Virginia; two sons, A. Kemper Fuller Jr., Lebanon, and Gary L. Fuller, Abingdon; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl "Tootsie" Mitchell, Abingdon, Mrs. Juanita Grimm, Gray, Tenn., and Mrs. Ezzel Gates, Tazewell; two brothers, Howard Williams, Big Stone Gap, and David Williams, Richmond; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
