He was a native of Tazewell County, a retired coal miner with Red Ash Coal Company, and a member of UMWA Local 1568. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara
Smith Keen.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Cantrell Keen; six sons, Ervin Keene, Swords Creek, Emory Keen and Doug Keen, both of Red Root Ridge, Va., Lee J. BLUFF CITY -- Grant Reed Madison, 55, of 272 Egypt Road, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Bluff City and a member of Robinson Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Lawrence Madison and Mark Madison, both of Bluff City; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn M. Dickerson, Jonesborough; and several nephews and nieces.

CLINCHCO -- Lura Belle McKinney, 85, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at the home of a son.
She was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County, a member of Ramsey Ridge Freewill Baptist Church and the widow of Vester McKinney Sr.
Survivors include four sons, Daniel Waitsel McKinney, Nora, Va., Vester McKinney Jr., Clintwood, Jason McKinney and Cicero McKinney, both of Clinchco; a daughter, Alice Belcher, Kingsport; nine sisters, Ester Brooks, Josephine Alderson, Louveina Austin, Arbutus Goins and Lockie Kilburn, all of Kingsport, Agnes White, Jefferson City, Pansy Edwards, Knoxville, Margie Duncan, Clinchco, and Edra Riner, Abingdon; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

BIG STONE GAP -- Charles Russell Noaks, 72, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, in Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital, Big Stone Gap.
He had lived most of his life in Stonega and Big Stone Gap, had resided in Pittsburgh while employed as a truck driver with Transport Company. He was a former employee of the Stonega Coal and Coke Company, a former member of the UMWA and a U.S. Army private first class in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Fanny Mae Noaks; a son, Charles Russell Noaks Jr., Columbus, Ohio; six daughters, Carmella
Brown Simpson, Mayetta Noaks, Delphia Noaks, Yvonne Noaks, Romona Mae Noaks and Inez Noaks, all of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Dorothy Sanders, Big Stone Gap; and several nieces and nephews.

GRUNDY -- Eannes Slone, 77, of the Home Creek Section, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, in Buchanan General Hospital.
She was a native of Steele, Ky., had been a resident of Buchanan County for several years, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He was a disabled coal miner.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Causby Fuller Slone; six daughters, Romainua Kaye, Pinellas Park, Fla., Aldeana Shortridge and Dola C. Mr. Robert E. Smeltzer, 93, of Mount Vernon Drive, Bristol, Va., died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Virginia, had lived in Dayton, Ohio, several years before moving to Virginia, in 1948, and attended Victory Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gaynell Musick Smeltzer.
Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Smeltzer, Bristol Tennessee, Bobby Smeltzer, Abingdon, Alvin Smeltzer, Harrison, Idaho, and Doug Smeltzer, St. Maries, Idaho; a brother, Gray Smeltzer, Bristol Tennessee; three sisters, Edna Hall and Louella Cole, both of Bristol Virginia, and Sara Moore, Dayton, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

FLOWER MOUND, Texas -- Laura Burke Trimyer, 67, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, in Flow Rehabilitation Hospital, in Denton, Texas.
She was a native of Abingdon, a Christian, and a graduate of Berea College, in Kentucky.
She was active in Summer Stock and was a founding member of the Greater Hamilton Civic Theater in Ohio. She taught in the public schools for many years and retired from Texas Instruments in Lewisville, Texas.
Survivors include her husband, George R. Trimyer,; two daughters, Scottie McNelly, Denton, Texas, and Denise Rodriguez, Keller, Texas; a son, Robin Swanson, Gretna, Va.; six sisters, Nora Lee Gosa, Bean Station, Tenn., Betty Triplett, Sara Ellen Goodman and Polly Greer, all of Bristol Virginia, Ann Widener and Ginger Fleenor, both of Abingdon; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday in Flower Mound.

She was a native of Floyd County and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pulaski.
Survivors include her husband, Archa Vaughan Jr.; a son, Archa Vaughan III, Parsonsville, N.C.: a daughter, Mrs. (the Rev.) Thomas B. (Hope Vaughan) Sullivan Jr., Chilhowie; a sister, Margaret H. Harman, Floyd, Va.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ola C. Powers Worley, 90, of 403 Carolina Ave., Bristol, Tenn., died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at her home.
She was a native of Konnarock, Va., and had lived in Emory before moving to Bristol, where she made her home since 1930.
She was a former employee of Big Jack Manufacturing Company, a member of the First Church of God and the widow of Mert C. Worley.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Worley, Fred Worley and Jimmy Worley, all of Bristol; four sisters, Hazel Britton, Chesapeake, Va., Blanche West, Fayetteville, Ga., Alta Faust, Virginia Beach, Va., and Jessie Fallin, Montrose, Va.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
