LEBANON -- Grace Virginia Jessee, 91, of Route 3, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, in Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon.
She was a native of Russell County, a member of the Stuarts Chapel, in Lebanon, and the widow of Emmit Jessee.

SWORDS CREEK -- Mrs. Callie Malone Clifton Keen, 74, formerly of Route 1, Raven, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Buchanan County and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. She was the widow of Harry Neal Keen.
Survivors include six sons, Larry Keen and Richard Keen, both of Oakwood, Va., Carnice Keen, Pilgrims Knob, Remus Keen, Red Ash, Va., Philip Keen, Raven, and Eddie Keen, Shortt Gap, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Inez Acklin, Bristol Virginia, and Mrs. Janice Cook, Swords Creek; two brothers, Bruce Clifton, Bear, Del., and Ellis Clifton, Baptist Valley, Va.; eight sisters, Mrs. Mae Price, Wilmington, N.C., Mrs. Sandy Horne, Paintlick, Va., Mrs. Edna Horne and Mrs. Myrtle McGhee, both of Cliffield, Va., Mrs. Hettie Kraszeuski and Mrs. Donna McClure, both of Wilmington, Del., Mrs. Stella Addison and Mrs. Mona Biddle, both of Bear; 15 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

David R. Lampkins
MARION -- David R. Lampkins, 77, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie.
Survivors include his wife, Eula Harrington Lampkins, Marion; a daughter, Linda Sue Lowe, Warrenton, Va.; and two grandchildren, Ryan C. Lowe and Stephanie A. Lowe.

Carrie L. Leonard
Mrs. Carrie Lee Fleenor Leonard, 95, of Bristol Tennessee, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Washington County, had lived in Sullivan County for the past 40 years, and was the widow of Claude C. Leonard.
She was a member of Abram Falls Baptist Church in Washington County, Va., and most recently, a member of the tape ministry of the First Baptist Church, Blountville.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Grady (Edith) Barker, Blountville, and Mrs. Hershel (Louise) Bright, Bristol Virginia; three sons, Harvey C. Leonard and Marshall H. Leonard, both of Bristol Tennessee, and James Harold Leonard, Bluff City; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Radford Moore
CLINTWOOD -- Radford Moore, 76, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, in Dickenson County Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a retired truck driver, a member of the UMWA, Local Union 8332, and a member of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Louise H. Moore; a son, Danny Ray Moore, Bradenton, Fla.; two daughters, Sheila Kay Moore and Diana Lynn Baker, both of Clintwood; four brothers, Fred Moore, Danville, Donnie Moore, Bristol Virginia, Wayne Moore, Kentucky and Roger Moore, Florida; a sister, Fern Large, Lakeland, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Elizabeth B. Murphy
FISHERSVILLE, Va. -- Elizabeth Berry Murphy, of Living Waters Home, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, in Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville.
She was a native of Hutchinson, Kan., and the widow of Wesley C. Murphy Jr.
She was a graduate of Baker University in Baldwin, Kan., and moved to Tennessee in 1945, where she lived until moving to Staunton in 1995. She was a member of the Methodist Church and active in numerous civic organizations including Eastern Star, Girl Scouts, garden clubs and hospital volunteers.
Survivors include two daughters, Mr. Lynn A. (Jane M.) Combs, Fishersville, and Mrs. Patrick E. (Margaret M.) Patton, Staunton; and three grandchildren, Jason Andrew Combs and Elizabeth Anne Combs, both of Fishersville, and Jane Elizabeth Briscoe, Winchester, Va.

James C. Scott
ABINGDON -- Mr. James Campbell Scott, 75, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a member of Wyndale United Methodist Church, and a veteran of World War II, having served from 1943 to 1946.
He retired from United Telephone Company after 35 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Stout Scott; two sons, James Anthony Scott, Macon, Ga., and Jeffery Lynn Scott, Abingdon; three daughters, Sharon Scott, Jennifer Browning and Betty Short, all of Abingdon; three sisters, Mary Shadden, Addie Lee Bouton and Charlotte Cornette, all of Bristol Tennessee; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Frank J. Stephon III
ABINGDON -- Mr. Frank J. Stephon III, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in Cedar Lawn Convalescent Center, Abingdon.
He was a native of Pocahontas, Va., and a graduate of Pocahontas High School, where he was outstanding in football and basketball. At the Pocahontas Coalfield Centennial Celebration, he was honored as Football Player of the 1930s Decade. He was a graduate of Bluefield College, where he starred on the basketball team. In 1983, he was inducted into their Sports Hall of Fame. Mr. Stephon also refereed basketball for 19 years.
He was employed with Pocahontas Fuel Company as a machinist, before moving to Abingdon in 1952. He was employed for 24 years with Raytheon as a tool designer.
Mr. Stephon was a charter member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church, where he served on various committees, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.
Survivors include his wife, Stella DeBusk Stephon; a son, Frank Joseph Stephon IV, Abingdon; a daughter, Donna Stephon Kuczko, Abingdon; two brothers, Louis Stephon, Beech Grove, Ind., and John Stephon, Trenton, N.J.; five sisters, Betty Dobas, Fontana, Calif., Mary Feyti, Irene Hanna and Ethel Borbas, all of Trenton, N.J., and Eleanor Shumate, Melbourne, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Mrs. Phyllis Irene Thomas Anderson, 48, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at her home.
She had lived most of her life in Abingdon and had lived in Texas for the past five years.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Anderson; a son, Danny L. Thomas, Korea; three brothers, Paul S. Thomas, Abingdon, Clark "Buzz" Thomas, Meadowview, and William Jack Thomas, Dry Ridge, Ky.; three sisters, Mrs. Selma Camper, High Point, N.C., Mrs. Beulah Cook, Huntsville, Ala., and Mrs. Annis Delp, Abingdon; and three grandchildren.

Kate E. Ayers
Kate Elizabeth Whittaker Ayers, 85, of Bristol Virginia, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of the Wallace Community in Washington County, Va., and had lived the past 55 years in Bristol. She retired from the Bristol Virginia School System, where she was employed at Washington & Lee School.
She was a member of Bradley Street Baptist Church, where she was active in Sunday school and the Women's Missionary Union. She was the widow of William F. Ayers.
Survivors include several sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Billy R. Crigger
MAVISDALE -- Mr. Billy Ray Crigger, 66, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, in a Kingsport hospital.
He was a native of Iaeger, W.Va., a retired coal operator and a member of Sandy Valley Masonic Lodge No. 17 AF&AM and Kazim Shrine Temple, Roanoke. He was a member of Rowe Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Rowe Crigger; two daughters, Mrs. Russell (Janie) West, Keen Mountain, Va., and Mrs. Michael (Hallie) Shell, Bristol Virginia; a brother, Claude Coleman Crigger, Mavisdale; a sister, Pauline Crigger Crumpton, Mavisdale; and two grandchildren.
