ABINGDON -- Billie Burress Mitchell, 59, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at her home.
She had been a resident of Bristol before moving to Abingdon six months ago.
She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Allen Mitchell; three daughters, Janet Mulderink, Dayton, Ohio, Kathie Wilkerson and Cindy Herrera, both of Austin, Texas; a son, James Allen Mitchell, Austin; two sisters, Peggy Fuller, Charlotte, and Jean Powers, Bristol Virginia; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

SMYRNA, Ga. -- Mrs. Lucille Rust Poore, 76, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, in the Wellstar Cobb Hospital, Austell, Ga.
She was a native of Wyndale, Va., had lived in Smyrna since 1972, and was a homemaker most of her life.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include four sons, Floyd "Pete" Poore, Carrolton, Ga., Thomas "Peyton" Poore, Bossier City, La., Walter "Lonnie" Poore, Palmetto, Ga., and Roger "David" Poore, Meadowview; two daughters, Phyllis Poore Wheeling and Delores "Peanut" Poore, both of Smyrna; a sister, Ruth R. Thomas, Glade Spring; 19 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

BLUEFIELD, Va. -- Mrs. Nannie Ellen Russell, 89, of 1950 Virginia Ave., formerly of Pounding Mill, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in a Bluefield, W.Va., hospital.
She was the widow of Marvin Russell.

Mabel W. Arnold
TAZEWELL -- Mrs. Mabel Wiseman Arnold, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, in a Tazewell hospital.
She was a native of Greenbrier County, W.Va., and had lived in Welch, W.Va., for many years before moving to Tazewell.
She was the widow of her first husband, Ralph Bickel and her second husband, Charles Wiseman.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Bickel, Bandy; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

Marion J. Bowers
MONTICELLO, Ind. -- Marion J. "Tennessee" Bowers, 73, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in St. Elizabeth Hospital.
He was a native of Bristol Tennessee, moving to Monticello in 1966.
He was employed with RCA for several years and retired from Jordan Manufacturing in 1944, after eight years of service.
He was U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara J. Brown; four daughters, Mrs. Garry (Tina) Rice, Tammy Capes and Robin Snider, all of Monticello, and Mrs. Ron (Jackie) Reed, Pulaski; a son, Brent Bowers, Monticello; two brothers, John Bowers, Lennon, Mich., and Robert "Bob" Bowers, Bristol Tennessee; a sister, Betty Lee Oliver, Bluff City; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday in Monticello.

Richard P. Carroll Sr.
NORTH REDINGTON BEACH, Fla. -- Richard Paige Carroll Sr., 68, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, in Bay Pines VA Hospital.
He was a native of Bristol Tennessee and moved to North Redington Beach in 1970 from Panama City, Fla.
He was retired from the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic controller, and was a veteran of the Korea and Vietnam wars.
He was past commander chaplain of VFW 4250, Madeira Beach, Fla., American Legion 273, Maderia Beach, military Order of The Cootie 1939 and graduate of St. Petersburg Junior College.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia Carroll; a step-son, Winston McAll, Texas; two step-daughters, Rene Kesig and Lorrainne Martain, both of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three sons, Richard Carroll Jr., Seminole, Fla., Matthew James Carroll and Stephen D. Carroll, both of St. Petersburg; a sister, Wilma Sue Cannon, Bristol Tennessee, and a caregiver, Nancy F. Carroll, St. Petersburg.
The funeral service was held in Florida.

She was a native of Scott County, a homemaker, and a member of Ewings Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene B. "Wild Bill" Daugherty; five daughters, Rhonda Snodgrass, Kingsport, Karen Turner and Shelva Elliott, both of Gate City, Hilda Redwine and Patsy Robinson, both of Nickelsville; a son, Gary D. Daugherty, Jonesville, Va.; three sisters, La Verta Fugate, Atlanta, Nina Sue Fleenor and Lucille Bishop, both of Nickelsville; a brother, Newton D. Whited Jr., Kingsport; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

MARION -- William Franklin "Bill Frank" Doane, 62, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of DAV.
Mr. Doane was retired from Southwestern State Hospital and was preceded in death by his wife, Mary B. Doane.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Steve A. (Franki D.) Taylor, Marion; a brother, James "Bud" Doane, Saltville; a sister, Martha D. Keese, Saltville; and several nieces and nephews.

WISE -- Hazel M. Estep, 69, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in St. Mary's Hospital, Norton.
She was a former employee of Coalfield Progress, was of the Freewill Baptist faith and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, William R. "Bob" Estep; a daughter, Lisa Michelle Gilley, Coeburn; two brothers, Earl Nunley, Virginia Beach, and William H. Nunley, Abingdon; five sisters, Betty
Wells and Mary Jane Beverly, both of Norton, Linda Mayes and Peggy Nunley, both of Bristol Virginia, and Christy Nunley, Abingdon; and a granddaughter.

CLINCHCO -- William "Bill" Harrison, 81, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in Dickenson County Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and was of the Old Regular Baptist faith.
He was a member of Clintwood Masonic Lodge No. 66, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of UMWA Local No. 7170.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Harrison; two sons, Donnie Harrison and Dennis Harrison, both of Clinchco; a sister, Pearl Raines, Clinchco; a brother, Johnny Harrison, Bristol Virginia; a granddaughter; two step-grandsons; and a great-grandson.
