Luther Honeycutt
HAMPTON, Tenn. -- Luther Honeycutt, 83, formerly of 273 Browns Branch Road, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at the home of his daughter.
He was a native of Mitchell County, N.C., had lived most of his life in
Carter County, Tenn., and was retired from North American Rayon Corporation.
He was a member of Victory Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Coleman Honeycutt.
Survivors include a son, Gilbert Honeycutt, Hampton; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Priscilla) Rouse, Bristol Tennessee; a brother, Earl Honeycutt, Richmond; two grandchildren, Nancy Honeycutt, Los Angeles, and Mark Honeycutt, Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.

Thelma H. Johnson
ABINGDON -- Mrs. Thelma Houston
Johnson died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999 in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of
Johnson City, graduated from the Normal School, now East Tennessee State University, and later attended the New York School of Floral Design.
In 1991, she retired after 60 years in business in Abingdon, where she co-owned and operated Johnson's Grocery, Johnson' Hams and Johnson's Florist with her husband. The businesses became Johnson's Center and Kealey-
Johnson Wholesale Florist, where she worked with her son.
She was the widow of J. Hubert
Johnson and a member of Abingdon United Methodist Church.
Mrs.
Johnson was a charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, president of the American Legion Auxiliary and active in the PTA of Central School and William King High School. She was a member of the Business and Professional Womens Club, the Booklovers Club, the Blue Ridge Florists Association and an honorary life member of the Abingdon Garden Club.

William Jessee "Billy" Lambert, 55, of Bristol Virginia, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Bristol and attended Ruth Street Church of God.
Survivors include his mother, Madeline Lambert Helbert, Bristol Virginia; five brothers, Danny Helbert and Charlie Helbert, both of Bristol Tennessee, Beverly Helbert, Jimmy Helbert and Michael Helbert, all of Bristol Virginia; three sisters, Linda Oliver and Martha Ables, both of Bristol Tennessee, and Rita Young, Nashville; and several nieces and nephews.

Brown Leab, 86, formerly of Bristol Tennessee, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in Crystal Springs.
She was a native of Denton Valley, had lived in Oliver Springs, Tenn., before moving to Florida, where she has made her home for the past 35 years.
She was the widow of John O. Leab and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy L. Bennett, Oliver Springs, Tenn., and Earleen Maxwell, Plant City, Fla.; four sons, John D. Leab, Mulberry, Fla., Kenneth Leab, Thonotosassa, Fla., Jack Leab, Zephyrhills, Fla., and Tom Leab, Lakeland, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

TAZEWELL -- Mrs. Eula DeBusk McVey, 82, of the Gratton area, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in a Tazewell hospital.
She was a native of Lodi, Va., a member of the Fincastle Baptist Church, in Tazewell, and the widow of Clarence Howard McVey.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Skip (Shirley) Jennings, Princeton, W.Va., Mrs. C.L. (Rita) Gregory, Richmond, and Mrs. Ronnie (Beatrice) Freeman, Madison Heights, Va.; two sisters, Mabel Bowman, Bristol Virginia, and Reba Banner, Welch, W.Va.; three brothers, Jack DeBusk and Clarence DeBusk, both of Damascus, and Joe DeBusk, Cabot, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandsons; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Charles Newton, 78, of Bristol Tennessee, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, a farmer and a retired member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local No. 538, for over 50 years.
Survivors include two uncles; two aunts; and several cousins.

Faison W. Pickard Sr.
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Faison W. Pickard Sr., died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in Rowan Regional Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Guyton Dorton.
Mr. Pickard was educated in the Charlotte school system and was a U.S. Army veteran before World War II. He was employed by the Charlotte Division of the Southern Railway System for 38 years.
He moved to Salisbury, N.C., in 1960, was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, serving on the Property Committee and was active in the Men of the Church. He was the oldest active member of the Franklin-Ellis Lions Club.
Survivors include his son, F.W. Pickard Jr., Salisbury; his brother, T.E. Pickard Jr., Charlotte, N.C: three grandchildren, Christy Conn, Richmond, Margaret Nelms, Suffolk, Va., and
Wells Pickard, Salisbury; and a great-grandson.

BIG STONE GAP -- The Rev. Charles R. Reece, 58, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital, Big Stone Gap.
He was a lifelong resident of the area, the founder and Pastor of
Williams Cove Pentecostal Church, established in 1978, and a retired federal mine inspector. He was a member of the Virginia National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Campbell Reece; one son, Robby Reece, Big Stone Gap; two daughters, Mrs. Bob (Cindy) Mitchell, Big Stone Gap, and Charlotte Eliza(beth) Reece of the home; a sister, Mrs. Jack (Dottie) Chesnutt, Big Stone Gap; a half-sister, Shirley Poteet, Big Stone Gap; and several nieces and nephews.

GRAY, Tenn. -- Harley Robert "Buster" Widener, 81, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home, Tenn.
He was a native of Cranberry, Avery County, N.C., was of the Pentecostal faith and a U.S. Navy Seaman 1st Class veteran of World War II, serving in the Asia Pacific.
Mr. Widener was a retired, self-employed building contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Iris Mildred Deskins Widener; a daughter, Mrs. George "Tom" (Linda Kaye Widener) Tittsworth, Kingsport; three sisters, Thelma Adkins and Mildred Deskins, both of Kingsport, and Hildred Greene, Bristol Tennessee; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was of the Baptist faith and the widow of Robert "Bob" Williams.
