Johnson CITY -- Maggie Davis, 67, of 512 Hamilton St., died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, in
Johnson City Medical Center.
She was a native of Abingdon and had lived most of her life in
Johnson City.
She was a retired employee of Texas Instruments.
Survivors include her husband, Steve Arie Davis; three sons, Claude "Skip" Young, Kinston, N.C., Doug "Skeeter" Young, Goldsboro, N.C., and Scott Davis,
Johnson City; a brother, Ralph Burke, Abingdon; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Bessie M. Delaney, 96, of Bristol Tennessee, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, in Cambridge House Health Care.

ABINGDON -- Eugene Frye, 81, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, in Cedar Lawn Convalescent Home, Abingdon. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include two sisters, Ruby Smith, Saltville, and Mona Hodges, Brookville, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Albert R. Greer
LAUREL BLOOMERY, Tenn. -- Albert R. Greer, 72, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, in
Johnson City Medical Center.
He was a native of
Green Cove, Va., and had lived in
Johnson County, Tenn., for the past 23 years. He was formerly a school bus driver for the Washington County Virginia School System and an employee of Columbus McKinnon Corp. until his retirement.
Mr. Greer was a member of the
Green Cove Baptist Church, where he served on the deacon board and sang in the church choir. He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Walls Greer.
Survivors include a daughter, Margie Proffitt,
Green Cove; a son, Randy Greer, Laurel Bloomery; four sisters, Opal Greer,
Green Cove, Ruth Dollinger, Fairfax, Va., Betty Pennington, Konnarock, Va., and Mary Anderson, Sugar Grove, Va.; seven brothers, Robert Greer and Jess Greer, both of
Green Cove, Spencer Greer and Elmer Greer, both of Midland, Va., Howard Greer, Konnarock, Harlan Greer, Sugar Grove, and Harold Greer, Elverson, Pa.; five grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Darrell H. Lowery
POUND -- Darrell H. Lowery, 59, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, in Wilcox Hall, Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.
He was a native of Dickenson County, had lived most of his life in Pound, and was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church, Wise, where he served as treasurer, trustee, and chairman of the deacons.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley M. Lowery; two daughters, Mrs. Shelton (Tamara) Cantrell, Pound, and Mrs. Jeffery (Angita) Fleming, Clarksville, Tenn.; a son, Darren Lowery, Norton; three brothers, John R. Lowery, Richmond, James A. Lowery, Lynchburg, and Sam Lowery Jr., Clintwood; four grandsons; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

POUND -- Martha Marie Rife, 76, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, in St. Mary's Hospital, Norton.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Ervin J. Rife; two daughters, Clella Falin and Rita Diamond, both of Pound; two sons, Edwin C. Rife and Donald Rife, both of Pound; a sister, Eura Moore, Pound; two brothers, Julius Meade, Pound, and Hayes Meade, Duffield, Va.; and six grandchildren.

Ethel H. Stout
Ethel Harmon Stout, 99, of 112 Moncier Circle, Bristol, Tenn., died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, in The Cambridge House.
She was a native of Avery County, N.C., and moved to Bristol in 1965. She was a homemaker and a member of West Hills Christian Church. She was the widow of James L. Stout.
Survivors include three daughters, Mildred O'Dell, Bristol Tennessee, Leone Lush, Cross Timbers, Mo., and Betty Covin, Ferrum, Va.; two brothers, Raymond Harmon, Elizabethton, and Ephraim Harmon, Ohio; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

F.L. West
F.L. West, 71, of 1910 Volunteer Parkway, Bristol, Tenn., died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at his home.
He was a native of Marion, had lived in Bristol 37 years, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Electrolux.
Mr. West was a Mason, a Shriner, a member of Victory Baptist Church and the Loyal Order of Moose.
Survivors include his wife, Mae West; a daughter, Judy East, Durham, N.C.; eight sisters, Shirley Moore, Sumter, S.C., Jo Ann Hamm, Port Deposit, Md., Glenna Keyes, Sugar Grove, Va., Doris Sheets, Freda Rotenberry, Rosa Lee Hayes and Deborah Alexander, all of Marion, and Irma Hutton, Wytheville; four brothers, W.C. West and Roger West, both of Marion, Ralph West, Havre de Grace, Md., and Bobby West, Sugar Grove; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Blake Atwood
NAPLES, Fla. -- Blake Atwood, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999.
He was a graduate of Milligan College, Elizabethton, and also attended Washington Lee University and King College.
He served three terms as mayor of Damascus, where he had lived for 40 years and was a past president of the PTA and the Jaycees. He retired as vice president of Damascus Hosiery Mill.
He was a retired captain, serving 21 years in the U.S. Army Reserve.
He was a past president of the Lions Club of St. Paul, where he taught school and coached sports for two years.
He was a member of the
Johnson Memorial Hospital Board, Abingdon, a board member of Mount Rogers Planning Commission of Southwest Virginia and at one time played professional baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals.
He was an elder of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Constance Atwood; two daughters, Connie Atwood Roberts, Jeannie Atwood Gwinn; two sons, Randy Atwood and Jimmy Atwood; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday in Naples Funeral Home Chapel, Naples.
