Johnson CITY -- Mrs. Rosa Lyons Foster, 97, of 814 E. Hillcrest Drive, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at her home.
She was a native of Rogersville, Tenn., a member of First Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Dante, Va., and the widow of Artemus Foster.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Adams and Shirley Joann Brummett, both of
Johnson City, and Jeanie C. Lee, Radford, Va.; a son, Richard Foster, Dante; 26 grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several great-great-great-grandchildren.

Betty Lou Honaker Gillooly, 52, of 166 Honaker Drive, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in
Johnson City Medical Center.

Anna B. Goforth
BLOUNTVILLE -- Anna Belle Goforth, 78, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at her home.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Sullivan County, retired from Raytheon, and was a member of Tri-City Evangelical Methodist Church. She was the widow of Verlin Goforth.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Jean Tibbits, Pontiac, Mich.; a son, Roy Lester Goforth, Piney Flats; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Dove, Gray, and Mrs. Virgie Jones, Michigan; three brothers, Ray Shaffer, Gray, John Shaffer, Michigan, and James Nelson Shaffer, California; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

L. Aubrey Goodson Jr.
DANVILLE -- L. Aubrey Goodson Jr., died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999.
He was a native of Caswell County, N.C., a graduate of North Carolina State University, earning a bachelor of science degree, and earned a Juris Doctorate from the Georgetown University School of Law.
He was a U.S. Army combat veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater of Operations, where he was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star for valor and the Silver Star for gallantry in action.
Mr. Goodson practiced patent law in Washington, D.C., for ten years as a partner in the firm of Fisher, Christen & Goodson. For many years, he was associated with Dan River, Inc., serving in a variety of capacities, as Senior Vice-President, Director of Research, and President of the Chemical Products Division, now Hickson DanChem Corporation. After retirement from Dan River, he became President and Chief Operating Officer of Charter Federal Savings Bank, in Bristol Virginia. Most currently, he was serving on the Board of Directors of the Daniel Group, Inc.
In 1980, he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship in the Textile Research Institute, Princeton, N.J. He was also a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International.
In civic activities, he was former Chairman of both Danville's City Planning Commission and First Federal Savings and Loan Association. He was also a former Director of several varying companies, including Memorial Hospital of Danville, Bristol Regional Medical Center, Danville Rotary Club, Danville Salvation Army, Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History, Danville Golf Club and Country Club of Bristol.
He was an active member of First Baptist Church, where he served in many positions of responsibility, including Sunday school teacher and Chairman of the current Board of Deacons.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Carroll Goodson; two sons, Louie A. Goodson III, Charlotte, N.C., and Mark Edward Goodson, Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Gayle Goodson Butler, Des Moines, and Mary Ellen Woods, Cary, N.C.; a brother, William Neal Goodson, Arlington, Va.; a sister, Nancy Goodson, Parrott, Greensboro, N.C.; and four granddaughters.

Jackie Harmon
HURLEY -- Jackie Harmon, 67, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, in Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy.
He was a native of Williamson, W.Va., had been a resident of Buchanan County several years and was a member of Kelsa Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon.
He was a retired coal miner and was preceded in death by his first wife, Amy Geraldine Estep Harmon.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Daniels Harmon; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Frances) McCoy, Whitewood, Va.; a son, Jackie Lee Harmon, Virginia Beach, Va.; two stepdaughters, Thersa Elaine Duty and Pam Fletcher, both of Hurley; a stepson, Terry Scarberry, Harmon, Va.; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

KEOKEE, Va. -- Hazel Gertrude Ratliff Huff, 82, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, in Crestview Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster, Ohio.
She was a native of Jewel Ridge, had been a resident of Keokee for 53 years, and was a member of the Rawhide Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ervin Huff; two daughters, Mary Sue Clark, Newark, Ohio, and Lena B. Hamilton, Lancaster; two sons, Thomas G. Ratliff, Kingsport, and Roger L. Ratliff, Pickerington, Ohio; a sister, Mildred Patton, Richlands; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

REAGAN, Tenn. -- William Anthony Johnson, 78, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, at the home of his son.
He was retired from the military and from Sperry Univac.
Survivors include his wife, Christine L. Johnson; a daughter, Deborah Williams, Beulaville, N.C.; two sons, William A.
Johnson Jr., Florida, and Joe Johnson, Reagan; and six sisters, Mary Ursula Davis, Radcliff, Ky., Mary Agnes Johnson, Maple Mountain, Ky., Mary Virginia Straub and Dorthy Helen McMillan, both of Louisville, Margaret Frances Bradley, Maricopa, Ariz., Josephine Alberta Brardley, Tempe, Ariz., and Rose Elizabeth Bartley, New Haven, Ky.
Services will be held Thursday in Lexington, Tenn.

ST. PAUL -- Myrtle Meade, 102, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, in the Norton Community Hospital, Norton.
She was a member of McClellan's Chapel and a Sunday school teacher.
She was the widow of P.O. Meade.
Survivors include a son, Roba Meade, Monroeville, Ohio; four daughters, Naza Mobie Maples, Mamie McReynolds and June McClellan, all of St. Paul, and Carrie "Tiny" Crowder, Greeneville, Tenn.; 30 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 43 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

Robert K. Penley
Robert Kenneth Penley, 70, of 1542 Elm Street, Bristol, Va., died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, in the Life Care Center, Elizabethton.
He was a native of Kingsport, had lived most of his life in the Bristol area, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was involved with the Eastern Little League for many years and was a member of the Beaver View Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Maxie A. Penley; six daughters, Cathy Sparkman and Susan Johnson, both of Bristol Virginia; Louise Smith, Stone Mountain, Ga., Robin Reimer and Tammy Arnold, both of Bristol Tennessee, and Carol Rhoten, Greenville, Tenn.; three brothers, Rayford Penley, Albert Penley and Junior Penley, all of Kingsport; a half-brother, Billy Moody, Kingsport; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

ABINGDON -- Mrs. Eulalah Nichols Phillips, 92, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in Cedar Lawn Convalescent Home, Abingdon.
She was a native of Ashe County, N.C., had lived in Meadowview and Abingdon for almost 70 years, and was a member of Palestine Baptist Church.
She was the widow of Dallas F. Phillips Sr.

Phillips Jr., Alvarado; three daughters, Mrs. Irby (Melba Elizabeth) Snead, Abingdon, Mrs. Richard (Rachel) Baker, Blountville, and Mrs. Harold (Beulah Mae) Blankenship, Goldsboro, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. Marado Miller, Winston-Salem, N.C.; a brother, W.R.
