TAZEWELL -- Kenneth Leon Leffel, 69, of the Gratton area, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, in a Princeton, W.Va., hospital.
He was a native of Tazewell County and was a retired employee of C&A Wood Products, Inc. of Bishop, Va.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Elizabeth Jessee Leffel.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. J.L. "Jay" (Vickie) Ziegler, St. Paul; a son, Steve Leffel, Tazewell; a brother, Rudolph Leffel, Bluefield, Va.; four grandchildren, Angela Leffel and Adam Leffel, both of Tazewell, and Amy Ziegler and Ashley Ziegler, both of St. Paul.

John W. Malone
BLOUNTVILLE -- John W. "Jay" Malone, 71, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Sullivan County.
He was retired from Sullivan County Department of Education in the maintenance department, was former owner of Malone's Cabinet Shop, and had a lifelong career in woodworking.
He was a TSSAA baseball umpire and was a member of First Baptist Church of Blountville.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Lark Malone; a son, the Rev. Tony W. Malone, Blountville; a brother, Bob Malone, Blountville; two grandsons, Jason Malone and Josh Malone; and several nieces and nephews.

Billy W. Moore
Billy Wayne Moore, 49, of 1910 Volunteer Parkway, Bristol, Tenn., died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Jenkins, Ky., and had lived in Texas for many years prior to moving to Bristol in 1991.
He was a truck driver most of his life and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietname War.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Moore; a daughter, Kristi Moore, Bremond, Texas; four brothers, Charlie Moore and James Moore, both of Pike County, Ky., Ricky Moore, Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Dean Moore, Bristol Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

SALTVILLE -- Mrs. Viola B. Moore, 95, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, in Friendship Manor, Roanoke.
She was the widow of George Moore.
Survivors include four sons, Garland Moore, Saltville, Rudy Moore and Roger Moore, both of Roanoke, and Roy Moore, Greeneville, Tenn.; a daughter, Esther Battig, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 21 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

BLOUNTVILLE -- LuVerne Sadie Peters, 86, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, in Bristol.
She was a native of Hartley, Iowa and attended schools there.
She was the widow of Arthur Peters.
She had lived in Westbrook, Minn., before moving to St. Petersburg, Fla., in 1988. She moved to Blountville four years ago to live with a daughter.
She enjoyed crocheting and needle work.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook and The Ladies Aid.
She was also a member of the Neighborly Club.
Survivors include a son, Donald Peters, Westbrook, and a daughter, Karen Schmuker, Blountville; three grandchildren, Darren, of Westbrook, Joan, of Blountville and Nicole, of Atlanta; a step-grandchild; three step-great-grandchildren; a step-great-great-granddaughter; and a brother, Gerald Philiph, Levitown, Pa.
Services will be held Wednesday in Westbrook.

DAVENPORT, Va. -- Dallas Ratliff, 76, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at his home.
He was a native of Davenport, and was a member of Tiller Town Freewill Baptist Church, Council, Va.
He was a retired school bus driver for the Buchanan County School Board.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Blanche Lambert Ratliff; three sons, the Rev. Dallas Kyle Ratliff, Council, Ron Ratliff, Prater, Va., and Wayne Ratliff, Davenport; two daughters, Mrs. William (Nancy) Lester and Mrs. Randy (Marla) Boyd, both of Davenport; a brother, Ira Ratliff, Ashland, Va.; five sisters, Mrs. Eula Elswick, Mrs. Jackie (Rissie) Ottaway and Mrs. Ruth Farlane, all of Roanoke, Mrs. Blanche Rasnake, Oakwood, Va., and Mrs. Arlene Lambert, Fredricksburg, Va.; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a step-grandchild; and a step-great-grandchild.

Rondy Glen Roark, 83, of 817 Clinton Ave., Mosley Apartments, Bristol, Va., died Monday, Dec. 29, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Cassell Roark.
He was a native of Ashe County, N.C., and had lived in Bristol Virginia for the past 75 years.
He was a member of Belle Meadows Baptist Church.
He was retired as an upholsterer from H.P. King Company and from the Bristol Virginia Housing Authority. He also worked in maintenance at Stant Hall,
Jones Manor and Mosley Manor.
Survivors include two daughters, Lois Ann "Delores" Roark Still, Bluff City, and Elizabeth Glover, Bristol Virginia; three sons, Arthur W. Roark and David L. Roark, both of Bristol Tennessee, and Ralph E. Roark, Blountville; a sister, Ruth Doyle, Bristol Tennessee; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

KINGSPORT -- William F. "Buck" Sandoe, 80, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, in Indian Path Medical Center.
He was a native of Abingdon and had lived in Kingsport and Bristol Tennessee most of his life.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Lynne Sandoe, Charlotte, N.C.; a nephew, Roy B. Sandoe, Bristol Tennessee; a sister-in-law, Leona Sandoe, Abingdon; and several great nieces and nephews.

STUART, Va. -- Mrs. Lula Kelly
Johnson White, 102, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, in Blue Ridge Nursing Center.
She was the widow of her first husband, Benjamin Depew and her second husband, Cecil L. White.
She was a member of Eastern Star.
Survivors include three nieces, Mrs. Lionel (Hazel) Pruner, Bristol Virginia, Mrs. J. Martin (Elizabeth) Buhl, Richmond, and Mrs. H. Nelson (Margaret) Witt, Stuart; and a nephew, V.J. Johnson, Nashville.
Graveside services will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Mountain View Cemetery, Bristol Virginia.
