CASTLEWOOD -- Odrick Olen Salyers, 77, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home.
He was a retired coal miner and timber man and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Salyers, Castlewood, Ronnie Salyers, Strasburg, Va., and Terry Salyers, Front Royal, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Pete (Patsy) Bush, Castlewood, and Linda Cannon, Damascus; four brothers, Maynard Salyers, Abingdon, Ray Salyers, Strasburg, Vernon Salyers, Cleveland, Va., and Glen Salyers, Front Royal, Va.; two sisters, Hester Head, Glade Spring, and Beula Stevens, Saltville; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

David W. Sturgill
EOLIA, Ky. -- David Ward "Jack" Sturgill, 61, died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at his home.
He was a member of Lewis Creek Pentecostal Church, and a retired miner.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Hampton Sturgill; two sons, Steven Ward Sturgill, Pound, and Homer Sturgill, Piney Flats, Tenn.; four sisters, Myrtle Sturgill, Atlanta, Mable Parsons and Anna Ruth Brown, both of Gray Summit, Mo., and Cindy Mayfield, Pacific, Mo.; and a granddaughter.

Bobbie L. Wallick
BEAUFORT, N.C. -- Bobbie Lou Shoun Wallick, 66, died Thursday in Carteret General Hospital.
She was a 1949 graduate of Bristol Tennessee High School and attended Virginia Intermont College.
She practiced interior design in Chapel Hill and Beaufort for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Rollin Herbert Wallick; a son, David Lee Wilkerson, Durham; four daughters, Golda Carol Wilkerson, Cheltenham, England, Carrie Lynn Wallick, Bahama, N.C., Nancy Lucinda Stephens, Cary, N.C., and Patricia Leigh Pellock, Columbia, Mo.; a sister, Nancy B. Spears, Auburn, Ala.; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday in St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Hattie A. Armentrout
WYTHEVILLE -- Hattie A. Armentrout, 90, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, in Greystone Nursing Center, Blountville.
She was a native of Hillsville, Va., a member of the Max Meadows United Methodist Church for 63 years and a member of the Ladies Aid Society.
She was the widow of Walter James Armentrout.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Greta) Nester, Charleston, S.C., and Mrs. Don (Jane) Boothe, Bluff City; four sisters, Melda Alexander and Dixie Howard, both of Roanoke, Velva Sutphin,
Johnson City, Golda Arcarco, Cornith, N.Y.; three brothers, Ohlen Shockley, Sylvatus, Va., Giles Shockley, Starky, Va., and Silas Shockley, Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

ABINGDON -- Lydia C. Ball, 88, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of West Jefferson, N.C., had lived in Abingdon most of her life and was of the Holiness faith.
She was the widow of Ben R. Ball Sr.
Survivors include two sons, Earl Ball, Fayetteville, N.C., and Elza Ball, Abingdon; a granddaughter; two grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.

Carlis Blankenship
MARION -- Carlis Blankenship, 66, of 213 Staley Street, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, in a Marion hospital.
He was a native of Richlands, a graduate of Richlands High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired fabricator with General Motors, in Flint, Mich., where he lived for several years before moving to Marion 20 years ago. He was a member of the United Auto Workers, in Flint.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Pete (Janice) Barrett, Saltville; a sister, Mrs. Lena Stinson, Richlands; a brother, J.W. Blankenship, Birmingham, Ala; and two grandchildren, Stacy Kim and Andrea Kim.

Johnson CITY -- Lucille Rasnake Cole, 74, of 2521 Park Ave., died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, at her home.
She was a native of Buchanan County and had lived in Baltimore until 1981, when she moved to
Johnson City.
She was the widow of Jack Cole.
Survivors include a sister, Mable Rasnake, Abingdon; six brothers, Arnold Rasnake, Baltimore, Lawrence Rasnake, Bristol Virginia, Robert Rasnake, Bee, Curvin Rasnake, Big Rock, and Ervin Rasnake, Vansant; and several nieces and nephews.

Harold Z. Fleming
ABINGDON -- Harold Z. Fleming, 88, died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center, Kingsport.
He was a native of Dickenson County, had lived in Clinchco for 28 years, and had been a resident of Abingdon since 1976. He was a veteran of World War II and was employed with Clinchfield Coal Company for 34 years.
He was a 55-year member of Clintwood Masonic No. 66 and a 24-year member of the Greendale Chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Mullins Fleming; five daughters, Rita Norwood, Bonita Springs, Fla., Jackie Franke and Janice Lambert, both of Abingdon, Haroletta Glock, Greensboro, N.C., and Myra Fleming, Morehead City, N.C.; a brother, Samuel R. Fleming, Clintwood; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Ann Goscinski, 79, of Bristol Tennessee, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, in Wellmont Hospice House.
She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Joslyn, Bristol Tennessee, and Terry Mallamo, Seaford, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
