DANTE, Va. -- Charles A. "C.A." Long, 67, died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of West Dante, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired employee from Phillips Auto, St. Paul.
He was a member and deacon of Phillips Chapel Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Marshall Long; three daughters, Deborah Compton and Lisa Music, both of West Dante and Connie Shortt, Lebanon; a son, Michael Long, Sandy Ridge, Va.; his mother, Rosa Holbrook Buchanan, Lenoir, N.C.; two half-sisters, Faye Yates, Chamberburg, Penn., and Sandra Edwards, Kingsport; a brother, Willie C. Long, Morganton, N.C.; two half-brothers, Ken Long, Westerville, Ohio and Eric Long, Jonesborough; a step-brother, David Buchanan, Greear, S.C.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Iva S. Moretz
Iva Shaffer Moretz, 80, of Bristol Virginia, died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, in Wellmont Hospice House.
She was a native of Washington County, Va., had lived in the Bristol area all of her life and had resided in Bristol Nursing Home the past two years.
She was a retired employee of the L.C. King Company and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three daughters, Lona Houser and Joan Roark, both of Bristol Virginia and Jeannie Hamrick, South Carolina; two sons, Phil Barker, Bristol Virginia and Ralph Moretz, Chesapeake, Va.; a brother, Warren Shaffer, Bristol Tennessee; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Sandra Lee Cook Ray, 52, died Monday in Bowman Gray Baptist Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Phillips and Gina Straight; her father, Fred Gray Sr.; a sister, Barbara Bland; a brother, Joseph Gray; a half-sister, Marty Willis; a half-brother, Fred Gray Jr.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Madeline Sinnock
SALTVILLE -- Mrs. Madeline Sinnock, 86, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, in Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie.
She was the widow of Carl Sinnock.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Massillon, Ohio.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Sue McKnight, Canton, Ohio; a sister, Anna Mae Smith, Saltville; four grandchildren; 11 nieces; and 11 nephews.

Mary G. Snapp
BLOUNTVILLE -- Mrs. Mary Gray Snapp, 84, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, in Indian Path Hospital.
She was a native of Bristol but moved to the Tall Creek area at age 11.
She was a member of Cassidy United Methodist Church and attended Sunnyside Baptist Church.
She was the widow of Herbert Roy Snapp.
Survivors include six daughters, Susan Snapp,
Johnson City, Cathy Hughes, Gray, Carolyn Scherer, Norristown, Pa., Esther Toohey, Boulder, Colo., Ethel Smawley and Mary Ann Reese, both of Kingsport; three sons, Herb "Jake" Snapp, Springfield, Doug "Mack" Snapp and Bill Snapp, both of Blountville; four sisters, Louise Gray, Kingsport, Helen Boucher, Billings, Mont., Jenny Akard Langham, Shalmar, Fla., Gladys Cornelius, Abingdon; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Perry D. Whitlock
BLUFF CITY -- Perry Dean Whitlock, 60, of 1795 Mt. Holston Road, died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Sullivan County and a member of the Mason Lodge No. 0547, in Piney Flats.
Survivors include three sons, Perry Dean Whitlock II, Bristol Tennessee, Charles D. Blankenship, Knoxville, and Randy Keese, Atlanta; a daughter, Joanna Cross, Bluff City; his father, A. Edison Whitlock; and three granddaughters.

BLUFF CITY -- Christopher Lee Wilson, 38, died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Bristol and had lived most of his life in the area.
He was a former employee with the City of Bristol Tennessee and attended Sunset Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Kay Wilson; a son, Donald Gene Wilson, of the home; a daughter, Christina Katherine Wilson, of the home; three sisters, Barbara Ann Doss and Vickie Lynn Childress, both of Bristol Tennessee and Teresa Jones, Hazard, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.

Minnie O. Booher
Minnie O. Booher, 86, of 430 Van St., Bristol, Va., died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Bristol Virginia and a member of The Church of God. She was the widow of Eldridge H. Booher.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances Milinazzo, South Mills, N.C.; a son, Allen Booher, Bluff City; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

Lowell M. Brown
Lowell Max Brown, 61, of 708 Portsmouth Ave., Bristol, Va., died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He had lived in the Bristol area for the past 16 years, moving from Baltimore, and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He retired from Morrison Moulded Fiberglass Company, formerly Strongwell.
