Blanch B. Norris
GLADE SPRING -- Blanch B. "Granny" Norris, 87, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at her home.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., and was a Presbyterian.
She retired from Emory & Henry College where she was employed for 20 years. She was owner and operator of Norris' Grill for many years, and the widow of Jim Jack Norris.
Survivors include three sons, James C. Norris Sr., and Thomas D. Norris, both of Glade Spring, and Franklin E. Norris Sr., Meadowview; three daughters, Mrs. Charles R. (Renie) Church, Ms. Pansy
Smith and Mrs. Jimmy Wayne (Daisy) Hawthorne Sr., all of Glade Spring; a brother, Earl Morgan, Bristol Virginia; two sisters, Ruby Barker, Glade Spring, and Ruth Heniger, Abingdon; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary H. Nunn
Mary H. Nunn, 79, of Grand Court, Bristol Virginia, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, in Lonesome Pine Hospital, Big Stone Gap.
She was a native of Eckman, W.Va., had lived formerly in Weber City and Kingsport, and most recently was a resident of Heritage Hall, Big Stone Gap.
Mrs. Nunn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weber City where she retired as the church secretary, and was the widow of Joseph E. Nunn.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Robert H. (Karen N.) Gay II, Greenville, Tenn., and Mrs. James G. (Doris N.) Mayhugh, Port Orange, Fla.; a son, James A. Nunn, Casa Grande, Ariz.; three brothers, Robert B. Hughes Jr., South Boston, Va., Gerald L. Hughes, Bluefield, W.Va., and James C.C. Hughes, Abingdon, Va.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Thelma G. Price
LEBANON -- Thelma Gibson Price, 83, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, in Norton Community Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Russell County, the widow of Carl H. Price and a member of the Church Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, David C. Price, Roanoke, and Giles H. Price, Lebanon; two daughters, Linda Price Royster, Bristol Tennessee, and Judy Jessee Lewis, Bristol Virginia; a sister, Kathleen Hayden, Kingsport; a brother, Harvey Gibson, Kingsport; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

SALTVILLE -- Mary Clarice Flournoy Smith, 76, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was the widow of William Alfred Smith.
Survivors include a son, James A. "Jim" Smith, Raleigh, N.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Faye Smith) Tilson, Blacksburg, Va., and Kay
Smith Brown, Nashville; seven grandchildren, Lee Tilson Strand, Trey Tilson, Sarah Tilson, Jeff Brown, Steve Brown, Rikki
Smith and William Smith; and two great-grandchildren.

Lee Wyatt
OWENTON, Ky. -- The Rev. Lee Wyatt, 70, of 3430 Highway 22 East, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, in Owen County Hospital, Owenton.
He was a native of Bristol Virginia and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving as assistant chaplain.
He was a former minister of the Gratz Baptist Church and had served as a minister in Tennessee, Virginia and elsewhere in Kentucky. He was a social worker for the Department of Human Resources.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Howard Wyatt; a son, Michael Wyatt, Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Libby Wyatt, Newport News, Va.; a brother, Sam Wyatt, Bristol Virginia; a sister, Mrs. George Bevins, Bristol Virginia; and four grandchildren.
Funeral and graveside services will be held Monday in Owenton.

James F. Burton
DANVILLE -- James Farmer Burton, 85, formerly of 217 Fagan Street, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, in NHC HealthCare of Bristol.
He was a native of Danville, had made his home in Bristol for the past three years and was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Parrish Burton.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and retired from
Smith Seed, Danville. He was a member of Rising Street Senior Citizens, American Legion Post No. 325, and Ballard Pruitt VFW Post No. 647.
Mr. Burton was a member of First Methodist Temple, in Danville.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha B. Page, Bristol Virginia; two granddaughters, Laura Page and Hollyn Page, both of Bristol Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard L. Campbell
Richard Lee Campbell, 30, of 2111 Highway 126, Lot 25, Bristol, Tenn., died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Bristol, a member of the Bethel BaptistChurch and attended Virginia High School.
He was a former employee of Valleydale Packers and a student of Northeast State Technical School.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Waddell Campbell; a son, Ryan "Bubba" Campbell of the home; a daughter, Amanda "Mandy" Campbell of the home; his mother and father, Lelia Campbell and Lewis Campbell, Bristol Virginia; three brothers, Larry Campbell and Bill Campbell, both of Blountville, and Jim Campbell, Bristol Virginia; a sister, Debbie Moore, Bristol Virginia; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Hazel Ann Henson Cassell, of 208 Blackburn Drive, Bristol, Tenn., died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, in Cambridge House.
She was a native of Watauga County, N.C., and had made her home in the Bristol area most of her life. She was a retired employee of Monroe Calculating Company, a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and Bristol Women's Bowling Association.
Survivors include her husband, Guy E. Cassell; a daughter, Mrs. Danny (Ruth Ann) Payne, Bluff City; a son, Paul "Eddie" Cassell, Jonesborough, Tenn.; two brothers, Dean Henson, Roanoke, and Dick Henson, Bluff City; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

PILGRIMS KNOB -- Ronald Lacy Compton, 60, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, in Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy.
He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a member of Dismal Holiness Church and a graduate of Whitewood High School, Class of 1958.
He was a former employee of Herman Mining Company and a member of United Mine Workers of America Local Union No. 7025. He was a former employee of Buchanan County and a disabled truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Ollie Jane Keen Compton; a son, William Dennis Compton, Pilgrims Knob; an aunt, an uncle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. -- George S. Garrett, 64, of 108 Pineway Circle, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, in
Johnson City Medical Center.
He was a native of Washington County, Va., a U.S. Army veteran and a Baptist.
He was a retired truck driver, a member of the Teamster's Local No. 959, Fairbanks, Alaska, and a member of Kings Mountain American Legion Post No. 24.
Survivors include his wife, Mary N. Horne Garrett; two sons, Danny Garrett, Telford, and Wayne Garrett, Joensborough; his mother, Mamie Pendergrass Garrett, Peachtree City, Ga.; six sisters, Shirley Tatum, Stone Mountain, Ga., Betty Strickland, Sharpesburg, Ga., Thelma Hale, Fayetteville, Ga., Helen Arnold, Danville, Beulah Brock, Pensacola, Fla., and Edna Mitchell, Columbia, S.C.; two grandsons; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
