Hope K. Warren
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Hope Keller Warren, 68, died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at her home.
She was a native of Washington County, Virginia, attended Washington County schools and Radford College. She was a graduate of Johnston Memorial School of Nursing, in Abingdon.
She was a registered nurse and was school nurse at Catawba College and later was manager of Total Care of Salisbury.
Mrs. Warren was a member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church and a member of the Rain Team of the church.
Survivors include her husband, Jeff Warren; a son, Dr. Jeffrey Warren, Memphis, Tenn.; three daughters, Kimberly "Kim" Hope Henry and Anna Susan Gilbert, both of Durham, N.C., and Mary Ellen Warren, Memphis; a brother, Walter B. Keller, Abingdon; a sister, Judy Thayer, Hopewell, Va.; and eight grandchildren.
A service of remembrance will be held Sunday in Salisbury, N.C.

Conley L. Boyd
Conley Lafayette Boyd, 86, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998.
He was a life-long resident of Sullivan County and retired from Bristol Door and Lumber Company with 47 years of service.
He was a member of Riverbend Baptist Church where he served as deacon and was a former music director.
He was an avid hunter and trainer of bird dogs.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Beulah Boyd.
Survivors include a son, Dwight Boyd, Bristol Tennessee; a sister, Mrs. Virginia Duncan, Bristol Tennessee; two brothers, J. Lee Boyd, Bristol Tennessee and Gene C. Boyd, Bristol Virginia; and one grandson.

MAVISDALE, Va. -- Nellie Clevinger, 83, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, in a Richlands hospital.

J. Thomas Deakins
KINGSPORT -- J. Thomas Deakins, 85, of 100 Netherland Lane, died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, in Indian Path Hospital.
He was a native of Blountville and was a retired school teacher from the Sullivan County School System.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and had served in a U.S. military government unit in Korea.
He was a member of American Legion Hammond Post No. 3, Charles DeWitt Byrd VFW Post No. 3382, First Broad Street United Methodist Church, Kingsport Masonic Lodge No. 288 F&AM, Jericho Shrine Temple, Kingsport Senior Citizen and the Survivors Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae B. Deakins.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Oscar (Frances) Bailey, Kingsport; a niece, Mary Faulkner, Fall Branch; and a nephew, Bill Bailey, Kingsport.

James F. Dorton
POUND -- James Festus Dorton, 73, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, in Dickenson County Medical Center, Clintwood.
He was of the Baptist faith and had served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Mae Stidham Dorton; a step-daughter, Jacqueline Fleming, Thornton, Ky.; two sons, Jerry N. Dorton and James C. Dorton, both of Wise; a sister, Mary Estell Mullins, Norton; and a brother, Lawrence Dorton, Pound; and two step-grandchildren.

BLOUNTVILLE -- Mary Retha Fortner, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, in
Johnson City Medical Center.
She was a native of Elizabethtown, N.C., and a member of Easter Star and Volunteer Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Claude Fortner; three daughters, Mrs. Jim (Jean) Wilson, Lewisville, N.C., Mrs. Robert (Juanita) Dishner, Winston Salem, N.C., and Mrs. Kenneth (Patty) Parrish, Kingsport; a son, the Rev. Don Fortner, Danville, Ky.; four sisters, Mrs. Neal (Faye) Darrock, Sandford, N.C., Mrs. Johnny (Louise) Jackson and Margaret Long, both of Hillington, N.C., and Vivian Kerns, Hickory, N.C.; two brothers, Albert Harrelson, Hillington, and Randolph Harrelson, Newport News, Va.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Betty Jean Hall, 62, of 6071 Rich Valley Road, Bristol, Va., died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Burke County, N.C., and a resident of Washington County for approximately 30 years.
She was the widow of Alexander Hall and a member of First Baptist Church of Lime Hill.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Hall, Bristol Virginia, and Lisa Hatfield, Salem, Va.; two sons, William Calloway, Bristol Virginia, and Ellis Hall, Bristol Tennessee; a sister, Gladys Spencer, Willowick, Ohio; a brother, John Clark, Hickory, N.C.; five grandchildren; and a nephew.

ELIZABETHTON -- Eugene Conard Kyte, 66, of 1324 Hillside Drive, died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at his home.
He was a native of
Johnson County and had lived in Elizabethton most of his life.
He was a retired professional salesman for the Orkin Exterminating Company, Bristol, and was a Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Cagle Kyte; three daughters, Shirley Anderson and Melanie Whaley, both of Elizabethton, and Teresa Wright, Bluff City; two sons, Jeff Kyte and Dennis Kyte, both of Elizabethton; his parents, Willard and Maude Stout Kyte, Elizabethton; three brothers, Jack Kyte and Sherrill Kyte, both of Elizabethton, and Willard Kyte Jr., Atlanta; and seven grandchildren.

Vernon Mulvaney
BIG STONE GAP -- Vernon Mulvaney, 83, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at his home.
He was a native of Whitesburg, Ky., and had lived most of his life in Big Stone Gap.
He was a self-employed electrician.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Big Stone Gap, and had held several offices in other churches.
Survivors include his wife, Cleo Haynes Mulvaney; three daughters, Joyce Jones, Dryden, Va, Martine Nichols, Big Stone Gap, and Patty Cooter, Church Hill, Tenn.; a son, James Mulvaney, Big Stone Gap; four grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
