JONESBOROUGH -- Billy Joe Humphrey, 61, of 216 Miller Road, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at the home of a daughter in Piney Flats.
He was a native of Sullivan County and had lived in the area most of his life. He had lived in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., for 15 years.
He was owner and operator of Tennessee Valley Church Furniture Company.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany.
He was also a member of Watauga First Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Humphrey; a daughter, Tammy Milhorn, Piney Flats; his father, Haskell Humphrey,
Johnson City; a brother, James Humphrey, Piney Flats; a sister, Cordia Humphrey,
Johnson City; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

William H. Lane
HILTONS, Va. -- The Rev. William Howard Lane, 79, of Route 1, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, at his home.
He was a native of Scott County, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of D.A.V. and retired from T.E.C. in 1975 with 26 years of service.
He was a member of Hiltons Independent Church of God where he was pastor for 35 years.
He had also pastored Starnes Bend Freewill Baptist Church and Holston View Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Dana Ruth Lane, Hiltons; four sons, Herman Lane, Kingsport, Robert N. Lane and Michael Dale Lane, both of Hiltons, and Paul Lane, Bristol Tennessee; three sisters, Mrs. Jim (June) Rose, Kingsport, Mrs. Lionel (Ruby) Johnson, Hiltons, and Mrs. Eugene (Nancy) Blalock, Gate City; two brothers, Robert E. Lane, Kingsport, and Harvey Lane, Knoxville; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

PAINTLICK, Va. -- D. Wayne Lilly, 61, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, in a Richlands hospital.
He was a native of Bluefield, W.Va., and was a 1955 graduate of Pineville High School.
He attended Morris-Harvey College, and was a claims representative for Farmers Insurance Group.
He had lived in the Paintlick area the past 24 years and was a member of Soul's Harbor Church, Rosedale, Va.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dora Maggie Lockhart Lilly; two daughters, Ms. Deborah Ann Lilly, Richlands, and Mrs. Dow (Stephanie) Henderson, North Tazewell, Va.; two sons, Gregory Wayne Lilly and Scott Lilly, both of Lebanon; a sister, Mrs. Brenda Carter, Wilmington, N.C.; a brother, Jerry Arthur Lilly, Hurricane, W.Va.; and six grandchildren.

PORT RICHEY, Fla. -- Dr. Richard M. Slyman, 58, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, in North Bay Hospital, New Port Richey.
He was a native of Spruce Pine, N.C., and moved to Port Richey eight years ago from Orlando.
He was a member of the Tampa Bay Presbytery and a life member of Sertoma.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Slyman; a son, Richard Mark Slyman III, Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Elizabeth Slyman Thornton, Atlanta; his mother, Sadie Slyman, Bristol Tennessee; and two brothers, James Slyman, Knoxville, and Ernest Slyman, Kew Garden, N.Y.
A service will be held Sunday in Port Richey.

BIG STONE GAP -- Ollie Snader, 92, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, in Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Big Stone Gap.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Big Stone Gap.

ANNISTON, Ala. -- Gladys Hinchey Snead, 70, of 5506 Blueberry Lane, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, at her home.
She was a native of Abingdon and had lived in Anniston for 33 years.
She was retired from M & H Valve and was a member of Edgewood Congregational Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene F. Snead; two daughters, Pamela S. Slaton and Karen S. Soleman, both of Anniston; a son, Michael E. Snead, Anniston; three sisters, Dorothy Stewart, Memphis, Pauline Minnick and Shirley Johnson, both of Abingdon; two brothers, Charles Hinchey, Poca, W.Va., and Donald Hinchey, Abingdon; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday in Anniston.

He was a member of the United Methodist Temple, Beckley, and a member of Pound Masons Lodge No. 59 AF & AM.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Carol Vanover; a daughter, Kathryn Foster, Asheville, N.C.; a son, Benjamin Vanover, Beckley; his father and stepmother, the Rev. Roy Vanover and Itly Vanover, both of Pound; two sisters, Judy Kiser, Pound, and Janice Moose, Boone, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

Glenn E. White, 62, of 408 Glenway Ave., Bristol, Va., died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Man, W.Va., and had lived in Gary, Ind., before moving to Bristol, where he had lived for the past 28 years.
He was a former assistant controller at Enterprise Fabricators, and a graduate of Indiana State University.
He was a member of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lora Jean Hall White; a daughter, Karen White Widner, Bristol Virginia; a son, Glenn E. White II; a sister, Lois Snider, Bridgeport, W.Va.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

BANDY, Va. -- George W. "June" Asbury, 68, of Route 1, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, in a Tazewell hospital.
He was a native of Tazewell County, a member of Boyd's Chapel United Methodist Church and was employed 53 years in the timber industry.
