TAZEWELL COUNTY, Va. -- Stuart B. Johnson, 52, of the Cliffield section, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at his home.
He was a native and lifelong resident of the Tazewell County area.
Survivors include three daughters, Patty Cantrell, Galion, Ohio, Rebecca Deel, Belfast, and Diane Ball, Pounding Mill; three sisters, Pauline Lester, Tazewell, Wilma Davis and Ella Johnson, both of Richlands; one half-brother, Thomas Chapman Johnson, Maple Gap; his stepmother, Jackie Johnson, Maple Gap; and five grandchildren.

MARION -- Gladys Elizabeth Bolt Kirk, 83, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, in Wellmont-Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Kirk; two daughters, Betty Lovejoy, Kingston, Mass., and Mary Helen Welch, Richmond; two sons, Harold Kirk, Marion, and Herman Kirk, Troutdale, Va.; three half-brothers, J.D. Bolt, Erby Bolt and Ben Bolt, all of Brevard, N.C.; two half-sisters, Ruth Rose and Anna Fay Leslie, both of Brevard, N.C.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two cousins.

HIWASSEE, Va. -- Chasity Ruth Lowe, infant daughter of Randall and Neda Newsome Lowe, formerly of Richlands, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, in a Roanoke hospital.
Survivors in addition to her parents include one brother, Noah Lee Justice of the home; her maternal grandparents, Noah Newsome, Oakwood, and Tom and June Adkins, Harman, Va.; her paternal grandparents, Ruth and Lawrence Payne, Cedar Bluff; her great-grandparents, Clinton Archie Hill, Cedar Bluff, and Gilliam and Sophia Damron, Grundy.

Mrs. Edith McCray, 76, of Bristol Tennessee, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, at her home.

Keith G. "Willie" Metzger, 91, of Bristol Tennessee, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home.

Jerry W. Morris
KINGSPORT -- Jerry Wayne Morris, 51, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, in Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was a native of Bristol Tennessee, and had been a resident of Kingsport for the past 13 years. He graduated from Blountville High School, was a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a master's degree in business administration.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietname War and employed by Holston Defense Corporation as an accountant.
Mr. Morris was an active member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher, and served on several committees.
He was a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, was formerly involved with Junior Achievement and Volunteer Kingsport.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. LaVerne Fullen Morris; one daughter, Susan L. Morris of the home; one son, Benjamin T. Morris, Kansas City, Mo.; his mother, Doris L. Morris, Bristol; one sister, Mrs. Ken (Janet) Maiden, Bristol; two brothers, James K. Morris, Church Hill, and Jeffrey Morris, Limestone; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard M. Parker
Johnson CITY -- Sgt. Richard M. Parker, U.S. Army, Retired, 67, of 913 East Chilhowie Avenue, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, in Bristol Tennessee.
He was a native of
Johnson City, returned to this area after retirement form the Army, was a 1949 graduate of Science Hill High School and a 1980 graduate of Steed College.
He served tours in Korea and Vietnam, was employed with Sears, Roebuck and Co. for 20 years and a member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a member of Rhea Masonic Lodge No. 47, Jonesborough.
He was Captain of the U.S. Army Rifle Team and was awarded membership in the Schultzenguilde Clube for marksmanship. At the time, he was the only person to receive this award not of German origin.

Elvin L. "Biggin" South, 70, of 429 South Road, Sharps Creek Community, Bristol, Tenn., died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and a retired employee of Haynesfield Nursery.
Survivors include one sister, Bonnie Wilson, Baltimore; four brothers, Burlie South, Bristol Virginia, Bob South and Jerry "Doug" South, both of Bristol Tennessee, and Joe South, Craigsville, Va.

Dolphis R. Stiltner
GRUNDY -- Dolphis Reed Stiltner, 79, of the Radio Center, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, in Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy.
He was a native of Pike County, Ky., a disabled coal miner and a charter member of the Harman Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Edna Mildred Looney Stiltner; four daughters, Mrs. Butler (Kathleen) Williams, Grethel, Ky., Mrs. Bruce (Loraine) Mayer, Hudson, Ohio, Mrs. Wayne (Emma Jean) Cline Jr., Breaks, Va., Mrs. Randall (Mary Janice) Skeens, Grundy; one son, Freddie Carson Stiltner, Allensville, Ohio; two sisters, Madeline Compton, Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Mageline Stiltner, Vansant; one brother, Claude Stiltner, Allensville, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

PENNINGTON GAP, Va. -- John Audia, 71, of the Dot Community, died Monday, Aug. 10, 1998, in the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville.
He had lived in Lee County for 61 years.
He was a retired school principal and was a World War II veteran.
He was a member of Planning District One Community Service Board and attended Gilberts Memorial Church and the Church of Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Geraldine Audia, Dot; three sons, Charles John Audia, Hickory Flats, Va., Roger Steven Audia, Woodway, Va., and Barry Allen Audia, Dot; five grandchildren; two brothers, Samuel Audia, Pennington Gap, and Joseph Audia, Woodway; and three daughters-in-law.

Alice Deskins
HONAKER -- Mrs. Alice Deskins, 73, of the Chestnut Ridge section, died Monday, Aug., 10, 1998, in a Lebanon hospital.
She was a native of Honaker where she spent her early life before moving to Elkton, Md., in 1957 and returning to Honaker in 1997.
She was a 1942 graduate of Lebanon High School.
Survivors include one daughter, Marie Cox, Honaker; two brothers, Larry "Bud" Deskins, Cleveland, Va., and Donald Deskins, Farmville, Va.; one granddaughter, Amanda Bostic, Honaker; and two great-granddaughters.
The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Wednesday at Honaker Funeral Home.
A memorial service and interment will take place at a later date.

William L. Dotson
CASTLEWOOD, Va. -- William Lloyd "Bill" Dotson, 73, died Monday, Aug. 10, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Dotson.
He was a retired manager of Piggly-Wiggly in St. Paul, for more than 30 years and was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army 36th Division, Company K, 143rd Infantry, and was awarded a Purple Heart from wounds received in France.
He was on the board of the Assembly of God Church, St. Paul and was a former member of St. Paul Fire Department.
He was a member and officer of the Moose Lodge in St. Paul.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Dotson, St. Paul; one daughter, Billie Ramsey, Greensboro, N.C.; one brother, James Dotson,
Johnson City; one sister, Mildred Dotson, Abingdon, and four grandchildren.
