GLADE SPRING -- Ella Mae Reddix, 81, died Friday, July 31, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Elizabethton and the widow of Arthur A. Reddix Sr.
Survivors include one son, Arthur Reddix Jr., Glade Spring; three daughters, Elvena Bowers, Elizabethton, Carolyn Avery and Lucille Dykes, both of Bristol Tennessee; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Harold Stevenson
BANDY, Va. -- Harold "Eugene" Stevenson, 49, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, in a Salem Virginia Veteran hospital.
He was a native of Tazewell County, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietname War, and a 1967 graduate of Richlands High School.
Survivors include four brothers, John Stevenson, Cedar Bluff, Ronnie Stevenson, Bill Stevenson and Jerry Stevenson, all of Bandy; seven sisters, Mrs. Karen Monk, Claypool Hill, Mrs. Thelma Altizer, Bandy, Mrs. Frances Blankenship. Mansfield, Ohio, Mrs. Gladys Alvis, Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Margaret Crawford, Keedysville, Md., Mrs. Violet Young, Frederick, Md., and Mrs. Sue Spencer, Amonate, Va.

Brady Thomas Sr.
GRUNDY -- Brady Thomas Sr., 81, of the Little Prater section, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, in Buchanan General Hospital.
He was a native of Dickenson County, a U.S. Army veteran, was employed in many different occupations among those were 20 years of service with the United Mine Workers of America, and 12 years of service with the Meadows Coal Company as maintenance mechanic. In his early years, he was a heavy equipment operator for a logging company in Kentucky.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Renie Hurley Thomas; five daughters, Sandra Kay Turner, Henderson, N.C., Mrs. Jerry (Joan) Pendergrass, Kittrell, N.C., Mrs. Gurvis (Patsy) Coleman, Prater, Va., Wanda Thomas, Pleasant Garden, N.C., and Judy Thomas, Bristol Tennessee; five sons, Clifford Thomas, Big Rock, Brady Thomas Jr., Randleman, N.C., William Stuart Thomas, Clermont, Fla., John Keith Thomas and Wayne Thomas, both of Grundy; one sister, Nancy Hackney, Safety Harbor, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Johnson CITY -- Ernest W. Cooper Sr., 80, of 1808 Hillsboro Ave., formerly of Orchard Drive Extension, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, in
Johnson City Medical Center Hospital.
He was a native of Nebo, Va., had lived in
Carter County for more than 50 years, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Elizabethton.
He was a former member of the Elizabethton Optimist Club, a former owner of the Happy Valley Motel and had served on the Board of Directors of the Happy Valley Credit Union.
Mr. Cooper retired from North American Rayon Corporation with 48 years of service in the production and planning department and was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Hammond Cooper.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. W.W. "Skip" Cooper Jr.,
Johnson City, and Dr. Jim F. Cooper, Charleston, S.C.; one brother, Donald Cooper, Bluefield, Va.; one sister, Grey Coleman, Nancy, Ky.; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Glenna D. DeBoard
Glenna Dean DeBoard, 43, of Bristol Virginia, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Bristol Virginia, owner and operator of High Point Grocery for 11 years and Eagle Ice Company for six years. She attended the Scenic Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, James David "Nookie" DeBoard; one daughter, Dara DeBoard Saul,
Johnson City; her mother, Blanch Keith, Bristol Virginia; four sisters, Ackie Cunningham and Betty Harmon, both of Bristol Virginia, Agnes McKinney, Bluff City, and Gaynell Wessner, Gray; one brother, Wayne "Bud" Keith, Melbourne, Fla.; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

CHILHOWIE -- Ola Mae Kress Edmiston, 65, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, in Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion.
She was the widow of Elder George Howard Edmiston.
Survivors include two sons, Eugene Winebarger and James Winebarger, both of Chilhowie; one brother, Everette Kress, Chilhowie; four grandchildren, Ronna W. Keith, Saltville, John Winebarger, Jessica Winebarger and Melissa Winebarger, all of Chilhowie; and one niece.

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- Charles W. Edwards, 70, of Starlite Drive, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, in Takoma Adventist Hospital.
He was a retired educator from the Greeneville City School System and was a member of New Ebenezer Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Edwards; one son, Chris Edwards, Greeneville; his mother, Linda Edwards, Harriman, Tenn.; one brother, Max Edwards, Rockwood, Tenn.; four sisters, Hope King, Kingsport, Joy Hambree, Lexington, Ky., Ellen "Susie" Houser, Blountville, and Dawn Hood, Rockwood; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

WISE -- Nola Dotson Griffith, 86, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, in Autumn Care Health Center, Salisbury, N.C.
She was an active member of Indian Creek Freewill Baptist Church until she moved to Salisbury in 1994.
She was the widow of Gayther G. Griffith.
Survivors include two daughters, Lillian Aldridge, O'Fallon, Mo., and Gaythleen Mullins, Greensboro, N.C.; one sister, Nannie Adkins, Coeburn; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Bluff City, a retired employee of TPI and was of the Baptist faith.
