CASTLEWOOD -- Roy E. Kiser, 86, of Route 1, Gravel Lick, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, in Abingdon Manor.
He was a shoemaker by trade.
Survivors include two sisters, Mildred Turner, Coeburn, and Pearl Dingus, Bluff City.

SWORDS CREEK -- Mrs. Leona Crouse Miller, 86, of Miller Creek section, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, in Columbia Clinch Valley Hospital, Richlands.
She was a native of Buchanan County and had lived most of her life in the Swords Creek area.
She was the widow of Roscoe Miller.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. J.B. (Roberta) Hylton, Canton, Ohio; six sons, Juston Miller and Huston Miller, both of Honaker, Harold Lee Miller, Preston Miller and Steve Miller, all of Swords Creek, and the Rev. Jessie Miller, Rosedale; four sisters, Rhoda Osborne and Gladys Stacy, both of Richlands, Mary Honaker, Honaker, and Stella Hunter, Nashville; two brothers, Glen Crouse Jr., California, and Virgil Crouse, Florida; 23 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

CASTLEWOOD -- Lee Roy Powers, of Crooked Branch, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, in Russell County Medical Center.
He was a retired coal miner and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Effie Powers; seven sons, Lee Roy Powers Jr., Alex Eugene Powers, Larry Wayne Powers and Dennis Darrell Powers, all of Tazewell, Jeffery Allen Powers, Jerry Lee Powers and Jimmy Darell Powers, all of Crooked Branch, Va.; one daughter, Judy Blackwelder, Statesville, N.C.; one half-brother, Swanson Eugene Sutherland, Dante; two sisters, Beulah Powers, Sandy Ridge, and Louise Jarvis, Statesville, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Fletcher S. Ramsey
CASTLEWOOD -- Fletcher S. Ramsey, 81, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, in Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon.
He was a native of Russell County, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a retired coal miner and a member of UMWA.
He was a member of Assembly of God Church, St. Paul.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Kay Ramsey Trent, Erwin, Tenn., and Karen Sue Ramsey Austin, Castlewood; one son, Terry Fletcher Ramsey, Castlewood; one sister, Lavie Willis, Lebanon; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

ELIZABETHTON -- Mrs. Helen V. Smith, 77, of Division Street, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at her home.
She was a native of Bristol, Tennessee, and had lived in Elizabethton for the past three years.
She was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis P. Smith; one son, Richard A. Smith, Elizabethton; three brothers, Worley Phipps, Columbia, S.C., J.C. Phipps, Medford, Ore., and Mack Allen Phipps, Richlands; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

MOUNTAIN CITY -- William M. Tugman Sr., 83, of 1518 Ackerson Creek Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, in Watauga Medical Center, Boone, N.C.
He was a native of Watauga County and had lived in
Johnson County most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Marie Tugman, was a farmer and a member of the Christian faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Forrester, Mountain City; five sons, David Tugman, Palestine, W.Va., Tommy Tugman, Kenneth Tugman, William M. Tugman Jr., and Rick Tugman, all of Mountain City; two brothers, Glen Tugman, Boone, and Ben Tugman, Winston-Salem; four sisters, Mary Moody, Boone, Ruth Watson, Ferguson, N.C., Carrie Canter, Winston-Salem; and Peggy Arey, Roanoke; 15 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Edna M. Whitley
KINGSPORT -- Edna M. Whitley, 85, formerly of 1002 Myrtle Street, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, in Hillside Manor.
She was a native of Wilton, Ky., and had made her home in Harlan, Ky., moving to Kingsport in 1995.
She was a member of Church of God, Coxton, Ky., and was president of the Willing Worker's Board for four years. She won the Senior Christianship Award and was a missionary and Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Virginia A. Hill, Hazard, Ky., Mrs. Beulah Helms, Middlesboro, Ky., and Mrs. Joyce Whitley, Pineville, Ky.; six adopted sons, Randy Finley, Darryl Finley, Jill Finley and Stanley Finley, all of Louisville, Ky., Quinton Lynn Finley and the Rev. Charles Finley, both of San Diego, Calif; five adopted daughters, Wynette Gordon, Arlene Finley, Quinelle Tentman and Vickie Logan, all of Louisville, Ky., and Joan Johnson, Pitt, Pa.; 40 adopted grandchildren; 26 adopted great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
