CASTLEWOOD -- Mrs. Lucy Bell Elam, 100, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, in Russell County Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Russell County and the widow of Hampton Elam.
Survivors include two sons, Vernon Elam, Lebanon, and Stanford Elam, Castlewood; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Ollie Mae Galliher, Abingdon; two stepsons, Ernest Elam, Nickelsville, and Willie Elam, Lebanon; eight granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; and ten step-great-great-grandchildren.

Harvey R. Hess
HONAKER -- Harvey Randall Hess, 36, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at his home.
He was a native of Richlands, had lived in the Honaker area his entire life, was a 1979 graduate of Honaker High School and attended Southwest Virginia Community College.
He was formerly employed as an engineer with Island Creek Coal Company.
Survivors include one daughter, Kelly Beth Hess, Blountville; his parents, Harvey Milton and Mary Sue Osborne Hess, Honaker; one brother, Jeffrey M. Hess, Honaker; his maternal grandmother, Dixie Osborne, Honaker; one aunt; and one uncle.

Ronnie Ingle
Ronnie Ingle, 24, of 150 Peters Private Drive, Bristol, Tenn., died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, in Wellmont Hospice House.
He was a native of Elizabethton, Tenn., and had lived most of his life in the Bristol area.
He was a 1992 graduate of East High, was on the football team, received the Coaches Award, Big 10 Conference Award, was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletics and was voted Most Dependable.
Survivors include his fiancee, Sonya Taylor; his parents, James H. and Ruby Music Gent; his biological father, Ronald H. Ingle Sr., Detroit; two sisters, Glenda Ingle,
Johnson City, and Michelle Gent, Bristol; one brother, Mike Ingle, Bristol; his maternal grandmother, Joann Music, Bluff City; his paternal grandmother, Wilma Waller, Birmingham, Ala.; his paternal grandparents, Jack and Emily Gent, Bristol; his maternal grandparents, Arthur and Ruby Mutter, Detroit; one niece; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

MEADOWVIEW -- Elizabeth Patterson Ingram, 54, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Saltville, had lived in Smyth and Washington Counties, and had lived in Meadowview for the past 19 years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, David L. Coffey, Aberdeen, N.C.; one brother, James Patterson, Emas, Pa.; five sisters, Lillian Anderson, Meadowview, Iris Cloyd and Mary Etta DeLapp, both of Bristol, Virginia, Patricia Goins, Hampton, Va., and Sue Bradley, Glade Spring; and several nieces and nephews.

Dewey Lester
DETROIT -- Dewey Lester, 66, formerly of Grundy, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, in Henry Ford Medical Center, Detroit.
He was a native of Buchanan County and had lived in Grundy most of his life prior to moving to Detroit seven years ago.
He attended Grundy High School, served for more than six years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a former janitor for Buchanan County School System.
Survivors include six sisters, Mrs. Charlie (Lillie) Stiltner and Mrs. Douglas (Pauline) Honaker, both of Roanoke, Mrs. Chester (Rosie) Lovell, Cedar Bluff, Mrs. Clarence (Bessie) Looney, Breaks, Va., Mrs. Jimmie (Roberta) Goff, Harman, Va., and Mrs. Buford (Lola) Ramey, Yorktown, Ind.; four brothers, Jack Lester and Roland Lester Jr., both of Grundy, Isaac Lester, Morristown, and Paul Lester, Muncie, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

Brown Lowe, 80, of Bristol, Virginia, died Friday, Jan. 30. 1998, in NHC Health Care Center.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Bristol, a homemaker and the widow of Jack W. Lowe Sr.
She was a member of Reynolds Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Kay) Barker, Bristol, Virginia; two sons, Mack Lowe and Jack Lowe Jr., both of Kingsport; six grandchildren, Mark Lowe, Stephen Lowe, Becky Davidson, Brian Barker, Emily Lowe and Kirk Lowe; and four great-grandchildren.

Daisy A. Mitchell
Daisy Alexander Mitchell, 91, a resident of NHC Health Care, and a former resident of 334 Elmo St., Bristol, Va., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, in NHC Health Care.
She was a native of Russell County, Va., and had lived in Bristol for the past 50 years.
She was a homemaker and a member of East Bristol Church of Christ.
She was the widow of Charlie Mitchell.
Survivors include two daughters, Hazel Leonard, Bristol, Virginia, and Eileen Hicks, Hildebran, N.C.; three sons, Bill Mitchell, Bristol, Virginia, Bobby Mitchell, Bristol, Tennessee, and Carl Mitchell, Wabash, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Gertie M. Morgan
Gertie Mae Morgan, 89, formerly of Candler, N.C., died Saturday, Jan. 31,. 1998, in a Henderson County, N.C., rest home.
She was a native of Newfound Section of Buncombe County, N.C., and the widow of Homer L. Morgan.
She was a member of Montmorenci United Methodist Church and very active in the community.
She was a former employee of Bon Marche and Ivey's Department Stores and retired from American Enka Corporation.
Survivors include two daughters. Dicie Crawford. Bristol, Tennessee, and Bette Morgan Case, Hendersonville; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday in Asheville with private interment on Monday.

COEBURN -- Ed Nixon Sr., 87, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, in Norton Community Hospital, Norton.
He was a retired employee of Clinchfield Coal Company, a member of UMWA District 28 Local 1256, and a member of the Holiness faith.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Nixon; one son, Ed "Buddy" Nixon Jr., Coeburn; one daughter, Faye Hughes, Coeburn; one sister, Mildred Shumaker, Winston-Salem, N.C.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a lifelong resident of Russell County and the widow of Emmett Porter.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Betty Jean Beutler, Castlewood; one sister, Mrs. Sara Ruth Jessee, Richmond; two brothers, Emmett H. Dotson, Pahoa, Hawaii, and Douglas G. Dotson, Lebanon.
