Mrs. Josephine Gaudy, 82, of 1017 Tween Hills Forest, Bristol, Tenn., died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She had lived most of her life in McKeesport, Pa., was a resident of Bristol for the past seven years and was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Anthony Gaudy; one daughter, Eddythe Carr; two sisters, Mary Raffle and Helen Donato; four brothers, Frank Del Signore, James Richard Del Signore, Dominic Del Signore and George Del Signore; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

COEBURN -- Rose Ellen Hammonds, 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, in St. Mary's Hospital, Norton.
She was a lifelong resident of Wise County and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three cousins, Evone Abbott, Coeburn, David Fields, Knoxville, and Charles Fields, Lenior City, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

JOHNSTOWN, Ohio -- Mrs. Alice Miller "Little Alice Miller" Horton, 92, formerly of Richlands and Russell County, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, in Johnstown.
She was a native of Russell County, and a member of Enterprise Baptist Church, Centerburg, Ohio.
She was the widow of her first husband, Earl M. Miller Sr., and the widow of her second husband, Elmer Louis Horton.
Survivors include six daughters, Gladys R. Hess, Newark, Ohio, Mrs. Allen (Emily A.) Stevens, Richlands, Lucille Myers, Glen Burnie, Md., Mrs. Ken (Oneeda) Hagan, Belleview, Fla., Mrs. J.P. (Betty) Hess, Yalaha, Fla., and Mrs. Bob (Charlotte) Lowery, Gahanna, Ohio; three sons, Earl Miller Jr., Denham Springs, La., Slagle Miller, Johnstown, and Gerald Lee Miller, Wheatland, Wyo.; one stepson, Orville Eugene Horton, Columbus, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Arnetta Harris, Columbus; 41 grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Judy F. Horton, 48, of Bristol, Virginia, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, in
Johnson City Medical Center.
She was a native of Hardin County, Tenn., and had made her home in Bristol for the past five years.
She was a member of Singingwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry A. Horton; one daughter, Mrs. Cornell (Janet) Bourque Jr., Lake Charles, La.; two sons, Wendell Horton, Schweinfurt, Germany, and Jerry Horton, Bristol, Virginia; her mother, Lillian Garrett, Savannah, Tenn.; three sisters, Rebecca Brown, Savannah, Joann Conway, Sutillo, Tenn., and Kathy Garrett, Waynesboro, Tenn.; five brothers, Larry Garrett, Collinwood, Tenn., Robert Garrett, Waynesboro, Steve Garrett, Toontown, Tenn., James Garrett, Savannah, and Donnie Garrett, Knoxville; and five grandchildren.

Marcelle Gilliam Melkowski, 77, of Bristol, Virginia, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, in Wellmont Hospice House.
She was a native of Wise, Va., and had lived in the Bristol area since 1946.
She was a University of Virginia graduate with a degree in nursing and was employed with Dr. Bernard Grigsby, the old Kings Mountain Memorial Hospital and Memorial Hall with 40 years of service.
She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and was the widow of John R. Melkowsi.
Survivors include four sons, John R. Melkowski III, Chris Melkowski and B. Kim Melkowski, all of Bristol, Virginia; two daughters-in-law; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren

Virginia Free Moore, 49, of 615 Prince St., Bristol, Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, in Bowman Gray Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C.
She was a native of Dix Hill, N.Y., a graduate of Arkansas College, had lived in the
Johnson City and Jonesborough areas before moving to Bristol where she has made her home for the past 18 years.
She was an employee of Federal Pacific Transformers, the widow of Michael David Moore and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Anne "Ginny" Moore; one son, Sean Michael Moore; her mother, Virginia Ziegler Free, Hendersonville, N.C., her maternal grandmother, Virginia T. Ziegler, Smithtown, N.Y.; one sister, Barbara Free Martinez, San Juan, Puerto Rico; and several nieces and nephews.

Anthony P. Oliver III and Corbin Oliver, infant twin sons of Anthony P. Oliver II and Janie Crawford of 1120 Anderson St., Bristol, Tenn., died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, in
Johnson City Medical Center.

CLAYPOOL HILL -- Harold Ratliff, 69, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, in a Richlands, Va., hospital.
He was a native of Buchanan County, Va., and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Thurman L. Roberson
Thurman L. "Scot" Roberson, of 220 Kilgore Drive, Bristol, Va., died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998.
He was a native of Pound, and a graduate of Pound High School where he was a four-year letterman and captain of the 1949 Wise County Championship Basketball Team.
He played Freshman basketball at Lincoln Memorial University and was a graduate of LMU and Hiwassee College. He coached the 1955 Hiwassee College Baseball Team and played semi-pro baseball for approximately ten years in Tri-County and Lonesome Pine Baseball Leagues.
He was a veteran of the Korean War as a member of Army Security Agency (ASA) serving in Frankfurt, Germany.
He was retired from Social Security Administration, Silver Springs, Md., and District Three Governmental Cooperative, Marion, and was a volunteer for District Three Governmental Cooperative's Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) as a safety inspector and a VICAP counselor.
He was a member of Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church, Bristol, Virginia, a Past Exalted Ruler of Bristol Elks Lodge and a member of Patton-Crosswhite VFW Post 6975.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bailey Roberson; one daughter, Regina Sue Roberson, West Palm Beach, Fla.; one son, Charles Scott "Chip" Roberson, Petaluma, Calif.; two sisters, Pauline Beverly, St. Augustine, Fla., and Geneva Slemp, Wise; one brother, Marshall "Bill" Roberson, Wise; and several nieces and nephews.

INVERNESS, Fla. -- Marvin Lewis Simcox, 66, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at his home.
He was a native of Bristol, Virginia, and moved to Inverness two years ago from Elkin, N.C.
He was a retired sales and serviceman for a dairy company, an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a member of Floral City Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Mildred "Millie" Simcox; one son, Marvin Lewis Simcox Jr., Richmond; one stepson, Eddy Burnette, Yorktown, Va.; six daughters, Brenda Kay Sequiest, Sheila Gay McDarris, Vickie Lynn Simcox, Tina Marlene Simcox, Michelle Dawn Amos and Rebecca Lee Simcox, all of Richmond; one stepdaughter, Shirl Foster, Killeen, Texas; one brother, Kenneth Simcox, Georgetown, Texas; two sisters, Marie Nola Williams, Lawrenceville, Ga., and Martha Ann Ottavi, Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
