Edythe N. Foster
Edythe Nelle Offield Foster, 71, of 379 Sandbar Road, Bristol, Tenn., died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Sullivan County, had lived in Nashville before moving back to the Bristol area in 1945, after graduating from high school.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon O'Dell Foster; three daughters, Carolyn Yvonne
Smith and Sandra Jean Talbert, both of Bluff City, and Donna Nelle Morrell, Bristol, Tennessee; two sons, Donald O'Dell Foster, Bristol, Tennessee, and Daniel Scott Foster, Blountville; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Sidney E. Frye
SALTVILLE -- Sidney E. Frye, 75, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, in Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion.
He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, a veteran of World War II and a retired employee of W&L Construction Company.
Survivors include his wife, Willie (Worley) Frye; one daughter, Norma Collins, Glade Spring; two sons, Donald Frye, Bristol, Tennessee, and Joel Frye, Liberty, N.C.; one brother, Wesley Frye, Portsmouth, Va.; three sisters, Peggy Norris, Meadowview, Ruby Mason, Madison Heights, Va., and Mable Chapman, Wayne City, Ill.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Arvil N. Holmes
Johnson CITY -- The Rev. Arvil Nathaniel Holmes, 74, of 827 Clearmont Drive, formerly of Richlands, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at his home.
He was a native of Seaboard, Va., and had made his home in the Richlands area most of his life, moving to
Johnson City 11 years ago.
He was a minister, retired brick mason, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and was General Bishop of United Ministerial Association of America.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Witt Holmes.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Deal Holmes; four sons, Robert D. Holmes, Richlands, Frankie J. Holmes, Manassas, Donald E. Holmes, Norfolk, and Sid Smith, Roanoke; two stepdaughters, Miss Angela Deal and Mrs. Darlene Pritchard, both of
Johnson City; one stepson, Marcus Deal Jr., stationed with the U.S. Army in Seattle, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Helton and Mrs. Mary Puckett, both of Ahoskie, N.C.; three brothers, the Rev. Robert C. Holmes, Rosedale, and the Rev. Alvin L. Holmes and the Rev. Thedford Holmes, both of Richlands; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Hattie B. Holmes
SALTVILLE -- Mrs. Hattie (Bailey) Holmes, 89, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, in Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie.
She was the widow of Thomas Curry Holmes.
Survivors include five sons, George Holmes, Bristol, Tennessee, Mack Holmes, Clinchburg, Va., Lee Holmes, Claude Holmes and Justin "Wayne" Holmes, all of Saltville; three daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Bertha) DeBord, Saltville, Virgie Harris and Beulah "Kate" Frye, both of Bristol, Tennessee; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Walter W. Jones
HONAKER -- Walter Waymond Jones, 68, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, in a Lebanon, Va., hospital.
He was a native of Beckley, W.Va., a 1947 graduate of Beckley High School, had lived in Honaker since 1963 and was owner//operator of Walter's Gem Box, in Honaker, for 22 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of First United Methodist Church.
He was a former member and past president of Honaker Lions Club and a former member of Honaker Town Council, where he had served as Mayor.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rosa Keen Jones; one daughter, Mary Frances Hebert, La Fayette, La.; two sons, Walter Duane Jones, Abingdon, and Anthony "Tony" Jones, Wichita, Kan.; one sister, Myrtle King, Lombard, Ill.; one brother, Bobby Lee Jones, Hansonville, Va.; and one grandson.

Pearl M. Keen
GRUNDY -- Pearl Mattie McGlothlin Matney Keen, 91, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, in Buchanan General Hospital.
She was a native of Buchanan County and had been a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Christ.
She was the widow of Bill Keen.
Survivors include one son, Delford Matney, Grundy; one sister, Sallie Charles, Pikeville, Ky.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Henry S. Kelley
PINEY FLATS -- Henry Shuler Kelley, 74, of 6548 Highway 11E, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, in James H. Quillen Veterans Administration Medical Center Hospital
He was a native of
Johnson City, had lived in the area all his life, was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Bluff City VFW Post.
He was a retired mechanic and former owner of a service station in
Johnson City.
After retirement, he operated a small engine repair shop in Piney Flats.
He was a member of Edgefield United Methodist Church, where he served on the Official Board.
Survivors include his wife, Lourene
Williams Kelley; two daughters, Teresa Hennessee,
Johnson City, and Amy Moyers, Piney Flats; two sisters, Eloise Milhorn, Blountville, and Helen Ayers, Kingsport; one brother, Eddie Kelley, Orlando, Fla.; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Elzie E. Mullins
CLINTWOOD -- Elzie Edward Mullins, 90,. died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, in Wise Appalachian Regional Hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County, a charter member and deacon of Philadelphia Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and a retired businessman and rural mail carrier.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Virginia Mullins.
Survivors include one son, John C. Mullins, Clintwood; two brothers, Vilous Mullins and Chester Mullins, both of Clintwood; one granddaughter, Tammera Powers; one grandson, Christopher Mullins; four great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
